Review summary
Our review is (solely) based on our particular tastes, enjoyments and experiences and never intended to persuade/dissuade anyone from patronizing a business.
We're in our early sixties and have only cruised eight times; we don't consider ourselves amateurs any longer but realize we're not experts by any stretch of the imagination. This was our first experience with Celebrity. The ship (Eclipse) was tastefully decorated, immaculately kept and had a design flow which made, from our particular stateroom (7th Deck, Forward), getting to areas/events of interest quite easy.
The entire staff was always polite, courteous, helpful and, based on our experiences, greeted everyone with a positive and upbeat attitude - smiles were plentiful. They were expedient and cheerful whenever we needed something.
Honestly, we enjoyed this Celebrity cruise, the food, staff, people, entertainment, ports, accommodations, service and the activities for the most part; however, there were some aspects we were not overly enthused with but respected nonetheless.
We've only (previously) cruised with Carnival and Royal Caribbean and, compared to that with Celebrity, we found (in our opinion only) there to be a distinct difference in the age groups and the entertainment venues.
Although we are in our early sixties, we still enjoy seeing and participating along with younger people in upbeat and late night activities. On this particular cruise, we found that most retired after the last evening show (around 10:00 p.m.). That is not to say there weren't activities to be found, there were but most were short-lived and none, to the best of our knowledge, lasted into the early hours.
Do not be inclined to believe we are wild partygoers, we are not but we (occasionally) enjoy being around a younger crowd who are dancing the evening away and having a fun time - we just didn't find that happening on this particular cruise, that's all.
The reason we've even mentioned these aspects is quite simple......if you are the type who enjoy dancing the night away, having a cocktail (or two), interacting with a younger or more energetic crowd, you might want to explore other available options as two weeks aboard a ship is a stretch.
Did we have a good time? Yes. Did the Celebrity staff/crew meet and or exceed our expectations? Yes. Was the cruise well orchestrated, organized and interesting? Yes. Did the quality of food, service and entertainment meet our likings? Yes. Overall, we really enjoyed this cruise. In all fairness to Celebrity, if you're looking for a cruise that'll provide great service, good food, restful and clean environment and accommodations, good entertainment, interesting ports and a crew & staff who (constantly) demonstrate that the customer comes first ( actually, I believe they emphasize safety first but you know what we mean ) we don't think you'll be disappointed with Celebrity.

Ship tip
WE STAYED ON THE 7TH DECK FORWARD AND IT WAS GREAT. THEATRE, POOL, SHOPPING, CASINO AND MOST VENUES WITHIN A FEW MINUTES WALK. THE STARBOARD SIDE WAS NICE.

Thanks for your detailed review. I enjoyed reading about your experience. We are like the others on your cruise who retire after the show although sometime we do take walks around the ship or peak in at a lounge act. Perhaps if we were on your ship we would have met you and decided to dancing somewhere on the ship, who knows, laugh, laugh.
