Wonderful cruise by turfmole

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Overall the ship, staff, and food was A+.  This is a great cruise if you just want to get away for a few days for R&R.  Personally, I was looking for dance opportunities which really didn't exist on this ship....oh well.  Nothing ventured, nothing gained.  My only criticism is I was 'taken in' by the oldest trick in the book by the young man who did my foot analysis in the gym/spa area.  He had me stand bare footed with my hands folded behind my back.  He then pushed my hands with one of his fingers and I began to fall backwards.  Next, he had me stand in a pair of support inner soles and did the same experiment...ie. clasp my hands behind my back while he pushed down with several fingers then both hands.  I didn't lose my balance.  I was so impressed I bought the in-soles on the spot.  My son, who is a chiroprator told me I was 'had' by the oldest trick in the book.  When the guy pushed down the first time, he actually pushed down with one finger at the same time pullin back, which took me off balance.  The second time, while I was standing in the in-soles/inserts with hands clasped behind my back, the guy pushed down (not out)  with almost all his might and I did not become off balance.  Buyer be ware!

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Although the Constellation is about 12 years old it is kept so neat and cleann it looke like a brand new ship.

The crew were always cheerful and friendly.

The entertainers went to the extremes to be good and entertain.

The food and staff were excellent.

Great itinerary but 3 star service on the Celebrity Constellation by VictorK

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

My wife and I are long time cruisers (over 30 cruises in 10 years) adn we have tried most of the cruiselines (several ships in each line). This was our first Celebrity experience and I have to say that for a ship that is rated 5 stars, the service and food are not more than 3 stars.

The food was very standard at the restaurants and poor at the food courts.

Service around the ship was almost non-existant. Specially at the food courts where very few people are employed.

I wanted to do this itinerary and I had few cruiseline choices and we chose the Celebrity to experience it. we were disappointed.

Celebrity Constellation Istanbul, Athens and the Greek Isles by AWender

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

A very good overall experience. The staff, especially the wait staff and the cabin stewards were extremely friendly and hard-working. The cabin stewards even folded our clothes every day! We would leave the room a bloody mess, and when we returned, it would magically be neat and organized. Likewise, the wait staff in the dining room was friendly and attentive.

On the negative side, most of the information supplied about the ports of call was focused on the Celebrity excursions which they were intent on selling you. It would have been helpful if they would have provided more useful information on the ports of call aside from the focus on the Celebrity excursions.

If I were planning this cruise for Celebrity, I would eliminate the Bodrum and Marmaris ports of call in Turkey, and, instead add more time in Athens. We decided to fly to Athens at the end of the cruise, so as to have more time there.

Also, because of the number of ports on this 12 day cruise, there was very little down time--it was a bit of a grind.

These criticisms aside, all in all, it was a wonderful experience, and I would highly recommend the cruise.

Overall a good time by scoperguy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Had a good cruise. Was in Aqua Class, which means I ate at Blu regularly Went to the Tuscan Grille one night--the ribeye was OK but not great Went to Ocean Liners and had good meals there twice Unfortunately my stateroom bathroom had a sewer like smell intermittently during the cruise and also the individual in my stateroom before me had a gastrointestinal explosive occurrence which was not entirely cleaned up upon my arrival. Housekeeping did a great job to clean the bathroom and their supervisor was awesome. My bags didnt make it on the ship till the 4th day and the Concierge was exceptional in her demeanor and in helping me with this situation. Overall the food quality I think has gone down a tad, but it is still quite good. The # of activities on board seems to have diminished a bit as well.

Great itinerary, ship and service, but they nickel-and-dime you to death by fiftiescouple

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

This is a good cruise line but definitely not "all inclusive". They nickel-and-dime you to death. This was dissapointing, so we'll probably try other cruise lines in the future. We had a lovely time with Celebrity Constellation and the ship was modern, beautiful and clean(I give it 5 stars), but in general we felt they were trying to squeeze every penny possible out of the customers. At every turn they were trying to take your picture or sell you into using one of the "selective" restaurants available. Using just the 24 hr. cafeteria would have been fine for both my husband and I since they provided decent food and a lot of variety. The San Marco restaurant for finner dining was very nice and the food was also decent, although we would only give the food in general a 3 or 3.5 stars. We're not big eaters, so this didn't matter to us too much. I feel that any good hotel nowadays should provide free wi-fi to stay in touch with family via your own phones at the very least. The only way to get it on the boat was to pay an excessively expensive fee to use their own computer area. We chose to go without and rely on my husband's work phone only using 3G, which was very spotty while at sea. The technician tending the area, btw, was less than friendly. Maybe he was tired since it was the end of the day. I give this area one star. (Don't count on using the wi-fi cafes in the ports since you'll probably won't have time to spare after the excursions.) If you're a drinker, you should pay the $50+ per person daily fee to drink all you want. If you're not, you're better off not drinking at all. The prices were excessive but the martinis were great. My husband and I limited ourselves to one drink a day, but personally I would have enjoyed wine with my dinners and a couple of drinks later during the show or while we listened to music in one of the bars since we were on vacation. They need to definitely include sodas and bottled water for free in the cafeteria, and the bottle of water in the room should also be included. They only included water, tea, coffee and juices in the cafeteria. I give this area 2 stars. I would have also enjoyed a massage, but the cost was three times what I normally pay for it, so I passed. I felt that everything on the boat was way overpriced, but the merchandise in the stores was worth looking at. They also had a gallery with paintings that I enjoyed. I give this area 2 stars. The activities and entertainment were great. " Alejandsome" was an outstanding Cruise Director, very funny, friendly and articulate both in English and Spanish (he is Argentinian). I give this area 5 stars. The excursions were outstanding but we didn't use the boat's. We used icruise.com and were very satisfied with the limited size of the groups and the expertise of the guides. The excursions were the highlight of our cruise experience. They are worth every penny and you really miss out if you don't take them. In general, Celebrity Constellation's crew was diverse, well trained, friendly, approachable and professional. I give them 5 stars.

Loved our 12 day Baltic Cruise!! by DonnaMS

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

This cruise provided an excellent opportunity to get a "taste" of many wonderful cities located on the Baltic. We used the tour site recommended by Cruises Only to book our excursions and we were VERY HAPPY we did!! The groups were much smaller than those offered by the cruise line (22-23 people per bus) and the itineraries were better planned. Would highly recommend using the link they provide to book your excursions. Also, for those who are more "independent" travelers, like us, we just booked the "Hop On/Hop Off" vouchers for several of the cities instead of booking an organized excursion. I did my research ahead of time and knew what sites we wanted to see. We particularly enjoy exploring places on our own and at our own pace. We booked tours for Berlin and St. Petersburg which is a necessity. For those "seniors" who are signing up for tours/excursions, please be aware that there is a lot of walking on many of them - particularly in St. Petersburg. Unfortunately, some of the people on our tour had canes and some difficulty walking and keeping up the pace. When the tour indicates it is "strenuous," please take that seriously if you have any limitations in walking or stamina! And... we would highly recommend taking an extra 2 days in Amsterdam. We bought an IAmsterdam card which gave us access to their buses and trams as well as admission to some museums and 1 boat cruise. Again, if you are more independent, you will enjoy hopping on and off their very efficient public transportation and walking, walking, walking. We loved our time in Amsterdam. Also... do not automatically book your pre/post cruise stay in Amsterdam with the cruise line!! I did some research into B & B's in Amsterdam and found a small one just on the outskirts of the city limits but only a block away from a bus and tram stop. We paid about $100/night for the room and breakfast which is a lot less than what the cruise line was booking. Again.. this would be for the more independent traveler. We had a wonderful experience with Celebrity. We've cruised 7 times before on 3 different cruise lines and found Celebrity to be excellent. Food was great and the entertainment at night was outstanding. We particularly enjoyed the lectures they provided by a PhD in Balkan history and monarchies. We're not much for other organized activities but enjoyed our sea days for reading and relaxing. This cruise was the last one for the Constellation in the Baltics. Our weather was beautiful - warmer than usual - and it was less crowded than during the summer months. Would highly recommend taking advantage of lower fares at this time of the year.

The beef was not tender In the cafeteria not enough variety in cold cuts IE no corned beef or pastrami I found the drinks really expensive. and the tours also to expensive for me as I was treating my sister. I have cruised many times also with celebrity and always enjoyed them. And would have given them a hire rating.

Love Scandinavia and Russia by topcat1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

There was nothing to not like about the trip. Although where we docked, for Berlin, was about an 11/2 hour bus ride to Berlin, it was enjoyable to learn more of the history of Berlin while on the bus. Estonia was just beautiful and quaint. Stockholm was a little bit of an issue since we could not dock there do to high winds getting into the channel, so we had to go to another close port and be tendered in. That was a slow process since the ship had only 2 tenders running initially. Russia was fantastic and a surprise. It's so progressive. The Tzars were filthy rich. Food, service, and staff on ship were great.

Crossing the Atlantic to the Island of the Flowers by KaeandBobWise

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Transatlantic

We had a very relaxing and interesting cruise, with plenty of activities on board during the ten days at sea. My wife, who always says she has no artistic ability, took up watercolor painting with the help of several workshops and some advice from fellow artist-passengers. The island of Madiera was a beautiful port of call. We could have happily spent two or three days there. The service and amenities aboard ship were top-notch, just as we've found with Celebrity in the past. Unfortunately, the bow and stern areas of the boat deck were closed off, so you could only walk the boat deck by staying on one side or passing back and forth through the elevator lounges. There seems to be a general trend in the industry toward minimizing public spaces, which I regret. I want to travel on a ship, not a stack of balcony cabins.

My Transatlantic Cruise with the Constellation by Heyman

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Transatlantic

We had a wonderful time. the stateroom was excellent, very clean. We also had a nice table at the dining room with people we enjoyed. The meals was good at the first week but after we noticed that the food was blend. We missed the escargot (Snails) other wise it was A OKAY. In any case I love to cruse with Royal Caribbean and Celebrity (this is my first choice)

First Family Cruise by kmills

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall, we had an enjoyable experience but we would not be rushing to book another cruise with Celebrity. The places visited were lovely and we arranged our own excursions which worked really well. However the days at sea we found too crowded and stressful. The pool space and amenities were not sufficient for the number of people. We were also not impressed with the constant pressure to spend, spend, spend on extras, especially at the gym where classes were extra and the cost to use the Persian Garden was totally ridiculous. We just felt like Celebrity were trying to squeeze as much money out of guests as possible. The kids club was good, although hey did not play outside at all.

Very Nice Cruise by joeym

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Celebrity Constellation is a very nice ship. Service was very good. Stateroom was clean and comfortable for 2 adults and 2 children. Kitchen was super clean and food was delicious. Shows were great. The pool deck area was too small. The pool was very small and needed updating. Tips: Book excursions through the cruise line. They take care of the details like transportation to and from. Find a ship with enough amenities to keep you busy while at sea. Constellation was nice, but did not have all the extras (zip line, rock wall, multiple pools, etc.)

Great cruise- so so on the ports by Ncottone

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Celebrity is an amazing cruise line and we had a blast. If you are a bit more of a drinker, I highly recommend paying the $55 + gratuities per day to pay for all-you-can-drink. Completely worth it for the amazing martini bar, wine with dinner, beers and bloody marys on the pool deck, etc. It's a really great deal considering the martini bar is roughly $10-$12 per martini. The staff is, of course, all friendly and amazing. We decided to do a short excursion in Jamaica to the Duns River Falls. We had a great tour guide and driver over to Ocho Rios but upon arrival at Duns River Falls, the wait was horrendous. There had to be about 1000 people there (I'm not exaggerating here). We waited in line for at least an hour in a crowd of people in the hot weather just to get a tour guide for the falls. One girl passed out literally right in front of me and an ambulance was called. The crowd was just too big and very disorganized. They aren't equipped to handle that many people at one time. The Duns River Falls is gorgeous and we enjoyed climbing it but again we were climbing it with hundreds of other people so it sort of takes the "nature" aspect out of it. Bring a water proof camera if you can. Otherwise the guides on the Falls take pictures and a video of your group and make you do weird cheers... if you're into that, cool. We weren't... And had no desire to pay $40 for a DVD of our climb with a bunch of other tourists in the video we don't know. Now if you are with a large group of people and you all go together, maybe it would be worth it. On to Grand Cayman. Gorgeous island and much more wealthy than Jamaica. We did the Island tour and beach day excursion. The Island Tour included a stop at what they called the "Rum Factory." The Rum factory turned out to be a 15 minute stop at a gift shop that sold rum cake and their native rum in various flavors. You can sample cake and rum and then buy it or other touristy junk. We were hoping to see them actually making the rum cake in a RUM FACTORY as they advertise. This tour also included a tour of what they call "Hell." Welcome to Hell signs are everywhere... a Devil pop-up, etc. It's of the funky rocks that were created somehow naturally and it looks of someone's version of what Hell would look like. Again, this is a tourist trap. 3-4 gift shops with t-shirts, stickers, hats, etc., with various sayings of "Welcome to Hell". We had 15 minutes to "tour" it. Not impressed. We did stop at this very wealthy metro area that had a gorgeous tower with the largest underwater scene made of small tiles. And the mall area had some fun stores but we really felt like we were in a city in the US. There were quite a few Americans and Canadians working in the stores there. It was a pretty area. Then we got to the beach. Beach and water is gorgeous of course! But they bring ALL the tourists to this same beach from ALL the cruise lines that are in port. It's majorly overloaded with other tourists and they are severely understaffed at the bars and the restaurant. Lunch was not included in our price of this excursion so we paid for our own lunch. It ended up being the equivalent of $50+ for our lunch. We had a cheeseburger, a panini sandwich, and two bottled waters. $50!?! The cheeseburger was not worth $25! A bit pricey for the food and it wasn't very tasty either... beware. Pay for the excursion that includes lunch and you may get a break on the food and it's less of a wait as well. They had a buffet set up for the groups that had lunch included so it was available immediately. In retrospect, we would have toured Grand Cayman on our own and just walked around the city. One more point to make about this stop. Grand Cayman doesn't have a dock so every ship has to take smaller boats back and forth from the cruise boat to the dock. When we were ready to head back to the boat, we saw a gigantic line of people waiting to get on the smaller boats and head back... as we were heading to the back of the line, very upset about having to wait, someone said, "Celebrity- go ahead of the line!" Celebrity had cold towels, juice, and water waiting for us on the dock, and they were running several boats back to our ship. The gigantic line was for Carnival! We were SO excited and relieved to not have to wait in that long long line! We will definitely be back on Celebrity!

I was disappointed with this cruise. I been on many cruises and this was my firist disappionting cruise. I like to cruise. Little things like we were set at the wrong dinner table. WE were the only two there. It was an empty table. A mistake, we were to set one more table over. We just didn't go to the main dinning the next night. We went on the last night and they set us correctly. It was a nice group and a much better dinner. Your shows were to late for us so we didn't get to see any. Better TV ads about the cruise would have helpted.

excellent cruise by Papasdream

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was the best cruise we have had in many many years. Everyone went out of there way to make you feel comfortable and welcome. The food choices in the dining room for dinner could have been better but the food was very good. I think the best part of the cruise was the Captains Club. We got breakfast with free drinks and cocktail hour with appetizers before dinner every night. The first night we went to the martini bar and for 4 drinks it was $50 and we thought that was going to be every night but then found out about the Captains Club and since we were Elite members we got a lot. The shows on the ship were absolutely wonderful every night. We could not have asked for a better experience.

Making Memories by Lela

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Having cruised on many occasions, we can confidently state that Celebrity X is by far our best experience. The staff is professional and pleasant, activities are diverse enough to satisfy from teenagers to older travelers, dance music varied to everyone's taste, food was good, rooms have plenty of storage space. Kudos to Arthur our stateroom attendant and Sheldon the waiter assigned for evening meals. Our favorite line is Celebrity X, however, because of timing or port choices, we've cruised other lines knowing that the overall experience will not stack up to Celebrity. I refer to vacations as "making memories" - thank you for making this vacation one which we will always, in retrospect, smile upon.
