We were expecting a premium experience because of Celebrity’s reputation and advertising but the actual experience didn’t live up to the hype.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Easy boarding, smooth and streamlined
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Main dining room food was just so so. Repetitive, uninspiring menu. cutbacks to specialty items like lamb, lobster, steak etc were so very obvious. Lobster was offered only once during a 13 night cruise.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Pool area was tired and in need of an update. Hot tubs looked dirty and worn.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
With the exception of one singer, the shows fairly amateurish.
Children's Programs
No children
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
With the exception of one individual in the dining room, our waitstaff and room steward were amazing.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
Common areas were in decent shape. Some areas were recently updated.
Cabin / Stateroom
2 out of 5
Shower was dirty, worn and in need of an update. Shower curtain was moldy. Bathroom sink smelled of mold. The ship was planned for the “ Revolution “ during COVID and was skipped - it very obviously needs an update. The railings on balcony are peeling and everything looks generally old and in need of an update.
Ship tip
Don’t expect a premium experience. It’s a pretty basic ship and cutbacks to amenities are evident.
A beautiful port, but because tenders were required we were an hour late disembarking and missed an hour of our excursion. There were 3 tender ports in this itinerary and all had some issues with disembarking.
Nothing much to see in this port, you need to book an excursion if you want to see something interesting. It’s an hour and a half to Florence so you spend most of your day just travelling.
Tiny island. Not much to see except the Shipwreck Beach, which is closed to tourists because of landslides. Even though this was widely reported in the news for the last six months, Celebrity did not advise us that the beach was off limits until the day before the excursion.
This was a beautiful port but the experience was pretty much ruined because there were 4 ships in port at the same time and the crew couldn’t get passengers off using the tenders. We had to complain strenuously just to get off the ship more than two hours after we anchored at noon!
Wouldn’t go back to this port, it was possible to tour it in an afternoon. Very small but quaint. There were shuttles to take you in town, which did make it easy to walk around.
Total screw up with airport transportation purchased through Celebrity. We were booked on a bus that would not deliver us to the airport in time for our flight. We were moved to an earlier bus, but on the morning of departure there was no record of us on the manifest and they could not accommodate us and our bags. We finally made it onto a later departure and made it to the airport just in time. Poorly organized by Celebrity and the tour bus operator.
