Review summary

Great 1st cruise! We enjoyed being able to see all the ports that this cruise offered. Loved Kotor the most. Very easy way to see Europe with a family.

Loved the organization of the process. We did hand over paperwork that had our cabin number on it and thankfully we remembered it because we needed to know it soon after

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The Sunset grill (outside on deck at the back beyond Oceanview cafe) was the worst service on board. The staff were not attentive at all. Many times I had to get up and order myself from the bar. It was a real surprise. Cuizine was also a big disappointment. Our server was quiet and not very enthusiastic at all. She was also not attentive to us. The female Sommelier we had there was not very accommodating or overly friendly compared to the ones we had in San Marco.

Onboard Activities

The pool is terrible!!! Waaaay too small for that size boat. We expected more of a resort-like pool area (large with swim up bars). Our son liked the basketball court. Maybe having a crew member frequent the court to ensure all kids are included on a game would be a suggestion. My kids also enjoyed bingo! Wish there were more head sets for the silent disco night. You should have had staff monitor who was using them and for how long when we saw many kids not even using theirs and we didn't have any it was a disappointment.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
It was what we expected on a cruise ship. The gold acrobatic duo (from AGT) was the best. The magician was terrible. Rock music shows were great.

Service and Staff

Everyone was very friendly and usually happy and pleasant. Martin cleaned our room. He was just okay. He didn't seem to go above & beyond. He answered one of my early questions incorrectly regarding where to eat dinner. We thought Oceanview Cafe was the only option for dinner and wondered why nobody else was dressed up! Cruise Director Paul was knowledgeable and friendly.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Yes the ship was always clean yes. Room curtains and carpet seemed very dated though. The layout was good. Although having somewhere outside in the front that is open (no windows) to look out would be good. The relection lounge was nice, but hard to get a seat when there was something to actually see...plus you were looking at it through glass. Felt like there was not an outdoor option to that. We liked to lounge in the rooftop deck at the back. The grand staircase was very pretty. The martini bar was cool with actual ice on it. Having more unique things like that would be good for future ships. Something we don't see everywhere.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
It was pretty small for 4 people but we managed to make it work. Beds were surprisingly very comfortable. Good use of space and making a cabinet out of nowhere! Missed not having a full length mirror. Also missed not having an iron on room. Curtains seemed quite dated. Wish we could have heard important announcements in the cabin! We should have been able to turn that on or off ourselves. Also having the daily printed info sheet was good but why don't you have all of that same info on o t.v. channel too?

Ship tip

Make sure you book your dinners in San marco early (1st day!) or you will end up eating super late for the entire trip!

Ports of call

Barcelona, Spain

Loved Barcelona!!!!! We did a bike tour and it was amazing.

Valencia, Spain

Took a taxi to the beach. Was great. You should consider an arrangement with a hotel there...that ship guests have access to a private part of their beach and also access to their pool for the 4 hours we are there

Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy

Did an excursion. Letesha was the guide. She was great. Beautiful cities!!

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

4 out of 5
Did an excursion. Allesandro was the guide. He was terrible!! Did not care to share info. Did not seem enthusiastic at all. Rose was the tour guide for the actual walking tour. She was full of knowledge but not overly great either. Didn't make learning the history fun. Noth were not organized in directing us and navigating where we went in the massive lines at Vatican/St. Peters Basilica and Collesium.

Kotor, Montenegro

Amazing gem of a port!!! Loved the natiral beauty. Loved the fewer crowds. Loved this place a lot.

Split, Croatia

Very busy port. Would have liked more options on where to go when not doing an excursion. Pretty place though

Venice, Italy

Did the excursion. Thankfully!! City is just so busy. Discovered on our own to walk to Rialto bridge after glass blowing shop. Guide should have told us that though!
