Review summary

There are no telephone in terminal in Venice. We we found a greeter who was able to contact the hotel and schedule time and pick up location for us. The Port of Venice is very large and may have eight or more large cruise ships in port at one time. We booked two nights at the Crowne Plaza Venice East-Quarto d'Altino. The hotel provides a Cruise Package with Airport and Cruise Port pick up. The hotel sent a Mercedes van to pick us at Parking Lot #3 near the entrance to the port. When we checked out of the hotel at about 9:00 A.M. the hotel had four vans loaded with passengers taken us to the airport in a convoy. The hotel is about twenty miles from the City of Venice and about 10 miles from the airport. There is a train station about 1 1/2 blocks from the hotel that has regularly schedule trains to and from Venice St. Lucia and other stations for about two Euros each way. The water buses can be boarded at the St. Lucia station.

Bought three day Water Bus pass from ACTV from the ticket shop at entrance to the port for 40 Euros. The shop also sells 1 day and 2 days passes. The pass can only be used on ACTV. Make sure the pass is validated before boarding the water bus. There are validating machine at all boarding areas. When leaving the terminal go left away from the people mover across the road there is a bridge not visible from inside the port. Half way across the bridge the ACTV stop can be seen below on the left. The water buses passes about every ten to fifteen minutes. There are a couple of stops before stopping at St. Marks. The route in Line 2 which continues on to other stations, the St. Lucia station and other stations and back to the Maritime Station the Port Area. Water buses lines can be changed at any station. A map of the routes can be picked up at the major stops
