Always appreciate a brand new ship from Carnival! by DavidT1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Europe

We had a pleasant surprised when we discovered that we had two separate baths in our stateroom, one 3 piece and the other 2!! Bathrobes were also a nice addition as part of the standard offerings in the stateroom!

We know the Vista is a bigger vessel than the last new ship, Breeze that we were on a few years ago but somehow the Vista layout does not flow like all the other vessels we were on. There are more specialty areas and amenity but they seem a bit segmented.

The sky ride was fun and thrilling and a wonderful water park for the kids and young at hearts!

The main dining room however lacks luster and wow effects...not like all the other Carnival main dining rooms. The low ceilings in some area actually felt tight and uncomfortable. There is not white table clothe anymore except one feast night, and wait staff no longer sit the diners and placing the napkins on their laps.

We did not see wait staff do their nightly dance or routine anymore except for the very last evening!

All in all we had fun, regardless of what were said above. The entertainments were great, Playlist performed wonderfully well in all the productions, and Jamie the Cruise Director worked tirelessly to keep the energy going day in and day out! Main dining room served delicious food every evening and we love the afternoon pasta served at the Italian restaurant for sure, not to even mention the wonderfully tempting burgers and pizzas!

As I said we had fun on this fun ship and made friends along the way!! Happy

All the ports and staff on the ship was great.   Our main dinning room staff was excellent.   Jaka, I Made & Charing.    They made our dinning very enjoyable.

Overall experience by alarson8000

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Europe

All the crew members were friendly and corteous. The excursions sold by Carnival are very expensive . With my big group of 11 we had to purchase our excursions outside of Carnival to save quite a bit of money. Breakfast menu needs to be changed a little it was the same food choices for 10'days. Overall it as a great cruise 😍

Same ole Carnival by AZSuperman

The Vista was just okay, As a Carnival regular cruiser it was nothing spectacular.  The Carnival Excursions were nothing to write home about.  The crew was not very friendly.

Amazing staff, service, and experience. by scottelder02

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

The Carnival Vista is an amazing new ship and staffed with the most amazing and hard working staff. Everyone was super accommodating and there are so many things to do on the ship! The cities we visited were breathtaking and all so different. The only down downside was not being able to visit Turkey.

A Lifetime Adventure by alexlocam34

Carnival Vista and totally nailed it.

A group of 35 Costa Ricans living in the USA and in Costa Rica decided to get themselves on this journey through the Mediterranean. We decided to use Carnival due to its quality service on past trips, and because of its newest Vista Ship.

When we arrived to Barcelona our minds were blown away when seeing that humongous ship at the port. But the best part was just about to begin.  Once we got on board. We could easily witnessed that all our expectations were about to be exceeded. Carnival's crew is simply amazing and the ship itself is a masterpiece that holds all you want and more on a dreamy cruise.

The ports of call, the food....you name it, made all of us live a "Life Time Adventure"

Carival Vista Barcelona to Athens by daveandwendy1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

This was my husband & my 11th Cruise & we have sailed most with Carnival this ship was quite different in many ways mostly good.

A few issue's but I am sure in time hopefully these kinks will be fixed.

Start with a positive LOVE LOVE LOVE the Havana Suites & area it was so nice having the extended balcony & private pool & bar for the busy sea days. Worth the extra $$.

The dinner open times was ok for us since it was just the 2 of us but we did have to wait for regular dining room at prime time but they accommodated us nicely just have patience they are trying. The food was good but not the best we have had on previous cruises with Carnival maybe it's due to the length of the time on ship ?

We tried most of the alternative dining (up-charge) we LOVED the Italian, the Steakhouse was good but not GREAT! JiJi's Kitchen is very good (be hungry).

We felt less FUN ship on this cruise by far which was ok since we spent so much time out on excursions nearly every day but we tried to find the fun & it was tuff FINALLY the Comedy Club had a 56 year old black man that we cannot remember his name he was hilarious if he's playing GO! The bike's, rope course & water slides are so much fun. We felt like kids. LOVE the self serve tap beers in the Brewery both taste great & only $4 a swipe. Really nice staff.

Negative is the spa which makes me sad they need to get better with the scheduling & hire more experienced (seasoned) massage therapists for sure. The up-selling is a little annoying when all I wanted was a blow dry & style 7 a massage they just kept trying I guess that's good for carnival I just want to chill on my vacation not have to be sold constantly (picture's, spa,).

All in all this was a great trip.

Cheer's to Carnival Vista Happy

Best Cruise Ever! by Cruiser69132082

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Europe

The ship was fantastic with a TON of amenities. The crew was amazing, friendly and extremely FUN! DJ Blendz is my new favorite DJ. Lots of food choices and my room was perfect. I especially liked the towel art I received each day. It may be corny to some but I LOVED IT! Would definitely recommend Carnival Vista to anyone.

Awesome Time! by csnisthal

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Overall, we had a great time on our cruise.

A few notes:

We stayed in Barcelona a few days before the cruise. This way we didn't feel rushed getting to the ship on time and got to get used to the time change. We also got to explore Barcelona which was awesome.

On the first day, we got duped into going on a Spa Tour when I wanted to make a pedicure arrangement. Don't do it! It took an hour of our time when I felt like we could have been enjoying something else on the ship.

Check-in took over an hour- allow yourself enough time to check in.

Food for the main dining room was just OK. It is cooked for the masses and watered down to appeal to thousands of palettes- so don't expect anything to blow you out of the water. One cool thing is you can try multiple appetizers or dishes if you want. We felt very rushed and didn't get the best service. Also, Formal night is packed and we waited over an hour for a table.

At first we weren't going to try the other restaurants that charged money because we didn't see the point in paying for food when meals are already included- but we were glad we tried them! JiJi's, the Italian restaurant, and Steakhouse were absolutely delicious. It was nice to have asian food at JiJi's in the middle of the trip to break up the monotony of european food the entire 10 days! I live in San Francisco and have had some of the best different types of Asian food (burmese, indonesian, cantonese, etc) and this restaurant definitely did an amazing job at capturing the flavors.

Mambo Magic, the house band in the Havana Lounge, was absolutely amazing. They played a wide range of Latin music and absolutely were awesome. We watched them every night! The vibe of Havana Lounge was also awesome and the bartenders made great mojitos.

We had a balcony room which I felt was worth the price. It was nice to wake up to different scenery each morning and we watched a thunderstorm out at sea one night.

We booked excursions through both Carnival and United Shore excursions. The United Excursions were smaller groups, better service, and better planned out. I really recommend them! For the Pompeii and Amalfi Coast, we only had 6 people in our group- that made for an amazing experience, rather than being on a 50 person tour bus. This will not always be the case but they will almost always be smaller because most everyone books through Carnival.

The carnival shore excursions were absolutely awful and I will never book an excursion through them again. The groups were always 50 or more people, and even though they required a lot of walking for long distances, senior citizens were on the tour and would slow everyone else down. We were in a group of 50+ people in Rome, and there were a group of 5 senior citizens that slowed the entire group down. Because of that, we had to rush through everything and it made for a less than great experience.

Barcelona by sweetpeagrumpy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Europe

This was a good cruise.  There are a lot of stops, did wish we had a cruise day in the middle just to break it up some because we were on the go all the time.  Never been so wanted to see as much as possible.  Food menu in the dinning room was not as good a Carnival has been in the past.  I think they are trying to push you towards the specialty dinning.  Sad since you pay so much for the cruise to begin with.  Over all had a great time.

Excursion packed 8 day Med Cruise by bosfl1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Europe

The excursions were the reason for the trip..pick wisely!!

Large amount of walking on uneven walkways. .heat issue in August..

Excursions by Carival are 50 people on large bus..moved around based on bus access which means dropping off further..from site.

excursions smaller number 6-9 with smaller vans that can get closer to site.  Only problem is guide difficult to find...on site only 5 min before pick up..

We had excellent cabin. Great assistance in cruise arrangement.

Thank !!

Very Good Med Cruise by hal70broox

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Europe

The ship is new and large. The ports were why we choose this cruise. Barcelona is a great starting point and is a great city to explore. The stops in Sicily, (although warn you the beaches in Sicily are not like the Caribbean at all. Stony and volcanic sand), but still nice. Naples is great with Pompeii nearby, Rome has so much to offer, Pisa was interesting and Marseilles, France was great. The peoples of Marseilles were quite friendly and we did not encounter any problems. Military and police units are quite visible in Marseilles. Mallorca, Spain was quite spectacular. Beautiful place. Quite ritzy. Took a trip up into the mountains which was also great.

Carnival Vista is an interesting ship and offers quite a few amenities not found on other Carnival ships. All of the water works areas are great for both Kids and Adults. The gym/spa area is nice. Warn you that the locker rooms at the gym are quite small, only offer two showers, no steam room, but does offer a sauna. The workout equipment is pretty decent as well. If you want a steam, you have to opt for the Thermal Suites which carries a charge and is co-ed.

The food onboard is pretty decent. There a all kinds of specialty restaurants and the Lido deck offers all kinds of food on the buffet lines. The Dining Rooms were good also. One of the best meals we had was on the first formal night which had lobster tails on the menu. The second formal night offered a great steak that you would normally have to pay to enjoy.

All in all, a good cruise and would recommend it.   Hal

No pampering here! by captooling

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

While the Vista is a brand new ship it is hard to tell .. very low key décor  no Grand atrium as on other ships in its class or size.. a very casual feel.. Don't get me wrong.. its nice but NO wow!  the food was days..  good... not great.. the breakfast menu  at the buffet was pretty much the same all 8 days.. the only exception was GUYS BURGER JOINT  ! excellent!!  on a scale of 1-10   a " 11"  it was that good!  the dining rooms are run in  a American dining experience  theme... witch means no table cloths  no pulling chairs out .. and all with the feel of a American chain restaurant .. No pampering..  The price was attractive and service overall good but I'll stick to other lines I can be casual staying home..

Vista Rocks by Cruiser32533481

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The cruise ship was amazing. The staff on the ship were always helpful and smiling and asking did we need anything. I've read other reviews about the stuff being rude and grumpy and unpleasant. I have to strongly suggest that this is nonsense and one bad experience with one individual should not tarnish and entire fleet of crew. Superb service.

The food was good in most cases although somethings should stay open all day. Given the amount of money we spend on these cruises, all inclusive should mean all inclusive. You need to be more transparent with your drinks packages and the limits of 15 drinks / day. it's not fair hiding information or not making it completely transparent. Also, it was a pleasure for us to pay our gratuities as they staff deserved it but a lot of people were not aware on the ship that they would have an extra charge of 300+ dollars / person at the end of their cruise.

The wifi is crap and drops consistently. It's also a rip off in this day and age and should be included for free. There should be a pool for adults although it's a bit late now. The Lidl deck pool should have been designed much bigger and less seating area in that area or some form of transforming pool to deck area for films in evenings. I didn't particularly like the pools as kids were always bombing etc. Which is 100% cool as they're on their holidays enjoying themselves but it would have been nice to just relax for 2 minutes without getting kicked, punched or water in your eyes.

These are all minor grumbles. Overall, the experience was amazing. Sitting on a balcony in the middle of the meditarranean sipping a beer, looking at the stars is an experience I will never forget.

Highly recommend this cruise!  The ship was very clean and the staff very friendly.  The ports we visited had much to offer.  I would highly recommend booking excursions prior to sailing.
