Review summary
We booked this cruise for the point of departure (Galveston), the length of the cruise (back to back 21 days), and new itinerary that visited new ports. It was advertised as a "Journey Cruise." We enjoy all the ports of call but after a while the islands started looking about the same. We mainly explored on our own and only booked 4 ship shore excursions. The ship seemed a little tired in decoration and layout. Our balcony room was comfortable and we spent lots of time sitting on the balcony enjoying the peace and quiet. My biggest complaint was the ventilation on the ship. The smoke from designated areas often filled surrounding non smoking areas and we avoided these areas completely. They were doing some painting on the ship on several days, and the fumes came through the a/c vents making our room very noxious. Our neighbors were also bothered by this. The quality of the food in the dining room and buffet were standard but lacking in vegetable choices...especially on the buffet. This cruise was what we expected but we had a very relaxing vacation. As a very positive point, I was impressed in the care that was given to medical emergencies and there were several. We returned to a port at midnight to evac a passenger, and the US Coast Guard met the ship in open waters to evac another.
