Worst cruise taken out of 11 cruises by ennory

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Dining room seating assignment was incorrect . We specifically requested a table with our in-laws but our seating assignment was not even in the same dining room

The promised on-board credit of $50 was never rec'd.

The smoking in the casino was absolutely intolerable.

There were very few on board activities during sea days.

Fun on the Splendor by babschase65

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

The Splendor, by Carnival, was on of the fleet's "Fun" ships.

There were many offerings of entertainment, activities, and fun.

We enjoyed the trivia games, the comedians & the theater entertainment of the comedian/juggler.

The staff were all friendly, helpful, and professional.

Relaxing by helingbear

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

No worries, no cleaning or cooking. Very relaxing trip. All the crew members were very nice. Always saying hello. I really enjoy movies over the star, especially the beach chair looking up with no heads in the way. No matter where you sit, no heads. The popcorn was a good idea too! I didn't like the popcorn for some reason, it had a sweet flavor I didn't like. On the other hand the pizza was good, the crust was nice & crispy. Most of the food I had was very good. I been to these area, but it was another port, Boston was a far walk though. Maine & Canada was alright, Mostly the town & restaurant. Not much to do except maybe taking the excursion. But if you like to walk, this is one way to go.

Food was not was not as good as last few carnival cruises,  would like to see more dance lessons and activities during sea days.  Enjoy the dinner first seating mastered singing,  our waiter at table 428 from the entire table was very please with his services,  he accommodate all of us for bringing all our meals and had a very big smile.  This is from the two of our tables,  all in all enjoy the cruise, the Asian and Latin group was fantastic.  I would definitely recommend my friends to go on ship again.  My cabin gay in 2223 was fantastic

CHOOSE ANOTHER SHIP by ceg34

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Upon arrival in my cabin it was necessary to call housekeeping to clean the balcony.  The glass on the balcony had assorted schmutz stuck to it including stenciled letters apparently left by previous occupants.

This obscured the Oceanview were you seated on the balcony and necessitated having to stand until it was cleaned.

Shipboard activities during days at sea we're sadly limited. No seminars or recommendations on upcoming ports as there were on Cunard cruises and I don't play bingo or fold towels into terrycloth animals, which was available.  I rarely gamble so the casino held I little interest for me.

Culinary offerings on the Lido deck were plentiful but boring. The hot dogs were tasteless, the hamburgers were hockey pucks, the pizza was palatable. The best meal of the day was breakfast with an excellent omelette station. Meat offerings at the Carvery station were consistently tough, poorly carved with obviously dull knives. The food in the Main Dining Room was entirely sub-par. Meat and seafood dishes were consistently overcooked totally disregarding any request for medium rare. Any steakhouse entrées could be ordered upon payment of a $20 premium per entrée.

Entertainment offerings left a good deal to be desired, with family Comedy and adult Comedy being the same performances by comedians sorely lacking in wit. The only difference was the adult comedy performance held later in the evening was liberally laced with F-bombs and sexual references.

The music in the dancing venues was of a higher-quality playing Jazz, Motown and Salsa rather well.

Their photographers are very accommodating.

Booking excursions is made very convenient with tickets delivered promptly to your cabin.

Nice Calm Fall Cruise by karlawebb

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

We enjoyed this cruise.  Usually known as the party boat, this cruise was an older crowd and was very comfortable and easy.  High recommendation for people wanting nice scenery and low key atmosphere on the boat.

Very Relaxing Trip by dviator

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

We made it easy! Booked the flight, airport transportation and all excursions before we left. The transportation to the ship was over an hour late, but the hostess was trying her best to correct it. The onboard experience was great! We took the early dining seating for the first time; never again. We were rushed and the waiters didn't interact with us at all. We were not called by our name once. The food was great; in the dining room and out. All service outside the dining room was also. We got there a week or two early for the changing of the leaves; a little disappointing, but still very nice and the weather was perfect.

Great vacation by janerpt

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

This was my first visit to the Northeast. It did not disappoint. The Splendor offered a great way to view great ports and scenery. The staff was very friendly, the variety and quality of food was outstanding' and the balcony suite was roomier than other cruise lines in past. My overall experience was 4/5!  Thanks Carnival for a memorable vacation.

Carnival Splendor by carolynabrandt

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Had a really good time

We are basically morning people so wished there would have been more early entertainment for us.  It seemed like shows didn't start until 10:00 PM or piano bar didn't start until 9:30 PM and movies also started too late for us.

On the Disney cruises we have taken there were always 2 shows (1 at 8 and 1 at 10)

On the Disney cruises they had movie room where they showed movies at different times of the day

The food was good and plenty of it but seemed the waiters were over worked with too many tables to attend to but they did a great job making sure we always had what we wanted

Cabin was always kept very clean

And will probably checking into doing another New England cruise

Wonderful Cruise by shakeykmd

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

We had a wonderful cruise on the Carnival Splendor.  The ship was so clean, the service very attentive and the food was excellent.  The Lido deck had a wide and varied selection to offer.  This was much more extensive than other cruise lines we had recently sailed on.  We could not have asked for anything more.

Poor exiting experience. by lab9090

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Deembarkation was a disaster.  Too many people were allowed off at one time with a very long walk to the baggage pickup area.  After exiting custom control area, people were at least six abreast like cattle when going to the exit area for busses, etc.

I will not use the Carnival Line again for another reason: no smoking on any balcony.  Why not?

Beautiful Trip by keithsherry

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Our trip was a history lesson... visiting Boston and seeing Paul Revere House and walking the cobbled streets was like taking a step back in time. We rode the tall ships out into the Boston harbor and traveled past the Boston Tea Party Museum.

In Portland we cruised into the harbor and were just off the coast of former President George W Bush Sr. home. We were able to pull a lobster trap and get a lesson about lobsters. Then back to Portland at the Porthole for some wonderful fresh lobster...ummmmm.

Halifax and Peggys Cove was breath taking. The fishing village was like looking at postcards. Every picture I took here could be an advertisement.

St John and the Bay of Fund was interesting.... seeing the sea caves was a chance of a llifetime.

We had time to tour in New York and see the Statue of Liberty and Ground Zero... just humbling!!!

I would recommend this trip.

Not the best by maxi1205

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

The steward and main dining service was great. The ship was clean, but on more than one occasion I had to wait for cups or glasses to be restocked. The ice cream machines were empty far too often and tables on Lido sat with dishes on them too often.

Great cruise from close to home! by Faye2328

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

While this was my fifth cruise, it was the first one I have taken without having to fly to get to the ship. Leaving from New York was very convenient, although the terminal employees were definitely New Yorkers- rough, brass, loud, rude, and not very helpful. We were not directed as to where to leave our luggage until we had schlepped it all the way upstairs. At that point a rude woman yelled at us to bring it back down. Okay- that could have been handled differently.

We did not let that dampen our spirits. The rest of the cruise was wonderful. The Splendor is getting old, but the staff was amazing. The cabins were clean, the food was great, and the entertainment was awesome. We did miss having Bingo every day, but we managed to find other things to do. The ports were perfect- Boston, Portland, St. John, Halifax- all wonderful small cities.

All in all, a very relaxing non-beach cruise.

Great cruise by llbanddjb

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

We celebrated our 45th Anniversary on Carnival Splendor and had a great time.  We didn't mind the decorations or the pink, infact my  husband enjoyed this decore better than some he called circus like.

We were upgraded to a "Spa Cabin" and loved the access to the spa area.  Now we are spoiled.  The ship kept very clean, the workers go over and above to make your vacation a good one.  The room always clean, everyone passed had a smile and "hello" and I certainly appreciate that.

We were on deck 10 forward and had to learn a good way to get to the back of the ship for our lunch and dinner time.  Once an easy was learned we used it for our travels back and forth.

The food was good and not to be complained about.  The entertainment was very good - we enjoyed each evening.

I do wish the photos were better priced.  I only purchased one.  If they had package prices I'm sure they would do better with sales.

We certainly enjoyed each stop and were blessed with great weather - Halifax had drizzle, but a good day.
