This was 8th cruise we have taken with Carnival and we’re pleased overall with this crew & the cruise itself. We did not like the boat due to the lack of bathrooms and the overall set up & decor.
Embarkation

This was very easy & took very little time at all. We chose 11:00 time slot
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Food in the main dining room as well as Masala Tiger was great but the deserts at the buffet were a mixed review. I appreciate the 50 year’s options added back to the menus. Breakfast at main dining room was mostly good. The burgers at Guys were greasy & burnt and the bacon was tasteless. They skimped on fries every time.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Cruise Director Andy was a blast. The comedy was mediocre this time. This boat left lots to be desired for activities after going on the bigger boats. I asked about alcohol tasting and was basically made to feel like an idiot for asking. Other boats with Carnival are already doing this. The manager in the shops was a bit of a jerk & acted like we didn’t matter. I waited 30 minutes to buy a hat after he skipped me to sell a purse to someone else. The casino allowed smoking everywhere giving me a sinus issue in order to stay. These slots were never loosened up. This was per lots of people. Sorry but the singers in some of the smaller areas were so off key it was hard to hang around. I really felt bad for them. The fitness center was nice but it was a waste of time attending the mini-facial party. What a joke. Photographers were very nice but told after waiting 30 minutes in line that the pictures being taken were not part of the package we pre-purchased. The shows were rock & roll themed & were great. We always enjoy the Love & Marriage Show. Andy made this even more enjoyable.

Ship Quality
4 out of 5
This boat needs more variety in the shops department. This boat severely lacks restrooms, especially by the restaurants/dining areas. The decor is hideous & reminds me of Pepto Bismol. I don’t see us ever cruising on this particular ship. The layout was a nightmare. You had to go up or down to maneuver getting to dinner. You only had 10 minutes to get there once they informed you. The place the comedy was held had big pillars blocking the stage. I’m some seats you couldn’t even see the stage.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
This bed was awful. It never made a king sized bed because the gap was too big. It made having relations with my husband nearly impossible. It felt like I was sleeping on a cot. The set up was terrible as I hit my knee every time I got out of the bed.
Ship tip
Don’t expect much if you’ve been on a bigger ship.
It took till 9:30 to disembark and cost 14.00 a person to take bus to town for 2 hours. Dropped off with no idea of where to go or what to do. Very few things open. Went to get Ice cream and husband used 50 US. Got 40.00 Canadian money back with no time & no where to spend it. This was a very sad waste of time.
I’m really sad we got this over Skagway. There’s really not much to do yet as the port is so new. Don’t waste your money on the lift. The area to see from is about 50 feet wide. The hike is a joke.
We loved the Coffee Grind right off the boat. They have the best coffee, brownies & scones I’ve ever eaten.
We did husky excursion and had time to do some shopping afterwards. Great town with beautiful views
Thanks for the review. I was on the Splendor in May for the second time and thought it was the perfect size for Alaska. It is large enough to have everything you need without being overwhelming. There are restrooms near the dining rooms and 4-6 on each public floor. The entrances are sometimes behind an initial door that you have to enter to see the separate Men & Women signs. Icy Strait Point is excellent for whale watching tours and just enjoying the beautiful scenery.
