Review summary

Although I was stationed in Alaska over three years. This was our first Cold Cruise. This State is beautiful and amazing. There is so much more to see and wish I could live there. Excellent cruise and I highly recommend everyone try this. We were lucky to have great weather at each port. No rain or snow. The weather was nearly 68 degrees with a mild wind. What luck!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
This was a quick and easy embarkation. The wife and I paid $40 dollars for a shuttle from the embassy Hilton Hotel to the port. Our port call was at 1100 o'clock AM. we may have stood in line for about 15-20 minutes all together. we boarded and off we went.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
the dining rooms were excellent! The longest line we stood in was the Mongolian which was 10 minutes. I actually time myself and it was worth the wait!.

The Gold Pearl Restaurant

5 out of 5

The menu was fantastic! Everything from chicken, steak, and seafood. The soup and salad were tasty. What made it more enjoyable was the waiter Dedy. Great service!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The Spa pool was amazing! There was a Raffle on the Lido Deck. Seven-game event to win raffle tickets on the Lido deck. I was only able to complete six events. Luckily that was enough for me to win one of the drawings. Woohoo!

Thermal Suite

5 out of 5

This thermal suite reminded me of the Carnival Dream. My first ship roughly ten years ago. Most enjoyable Thermal Ever!

Cloud 9 Spa

5 out of 5

The Spa was worth every cent! I had a great time relaxing in the steam room, messages and enjoyed the warm seat lounge.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The magic show and comedy show were spectacular! this was definitely a fun ship to be on.

Children's Programs

We didn't have any children that cruised with us. We did see an arcade with lots of games. There was a secure place for kids to play while the guardian spent the night socialized.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room steward was awesome! Our lead waiter "Deby" was phenomenal. He's been on Carnival for over 18 years and his knowledge and recommendations were on point!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
There were a few rust spotting with panels bending. The ship was well maintained overall. The lobby bathrooms never required attention as they were well kept up. The layout was easy to navigate. We had to remind ourselves to use the outer elevator when the center gangways were used at port.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The wife was offered this room for her gambling. This was our second interior room on Carnival. Overall, I didn't mind the inside cabin vs the suites or balconies we usually spend. Plenty of room with a king-size bed. don't be fooled, two twins placed together but still nice. I'll post a picture.

Ship tip

Magnets, I bought small round magnets and screwed on the nobs. We used them to hang book bags, clothes, hats, lanyards, along with sticky notes for each other as a reminder.

Ports of call

Easy, safe, fast and we didn't have to wait long for our baggage or room key.

Cruise Tracy Arm Fjord, Alaska

We had our first excursion booked through Carnival. It was cancelled on arrival. Our ship was lone hour behind schedule due to the 80 mile head winds and 30 foot waves. We were reimbursed and given free tickets for the next port excursion.

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

We had a great time. We rode the gondola up and down. The few was Devine. We purchased all kinds of gifts for our family. The mine excursion was awesome.

Juneau, Alaska

We stopped for a bite to eat at the Crab shack. Wow! best sea food ever! There were so many gifts shops and outlets. We had a great time visiting Juneau.

Ketchikan, Alaska

Let me first state this. The BERING SEA was the BEST EXCURSION ever!! I highly encourage everyone to go. Educational, informative, adventure, and amazingly fun. live sea creatures up close and personal. touch or don't touch its up to you. all types of Crab, star fish, rock fish, octopus, plus up close to 50 bald eagles flying overhead, piercing the water to catch fish. spectacular excursion.

Victoria, British Columbia

5 out of 5
This port was a quick on and off the ship. We were giving roughly three hours for a mandatory stop into Canada. Everyone wants our dollar plus had to pay Canada taxes while on the ship at port.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
BOOM! it was that fast. Carry your bags or have mark you baggage either way. fastest US Customs check ever. I think it was a quick glance and Welcome back to the United States of America.
