Review summary

In whole this was a great experience and we are already talking about where we want to cruise next. We now know that less is better when it comes to packing. Fly in a day early and buy water and sodas to take on your cruise will save you money. Read excursion reviews before booking excursions. Your attitude will have be a big factor on how you enjoy your cruise. Relax and enjoy your vacation, don’t sweat the little stuff and remember it’s all little stuff. Can’t wait for our next adventure.

Embarkation

Embarkation was quick and easy we had purchased FTTF which helped getting us passed some of the lines.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The main dining room was great. We chose anytime dining and found going early @ 5:15 was the best for service and getting in and out quickly. We did go once at @ 6:15 and it was extremely busy and service was slow taking almost 2 hours to complete meal. Food was always hot and delicious. We ate one night at the steak house and the meal, service, and atmosphere were great there. We were celebrating our anniversary and were brought a wonderful dessert with champagne on the house. Would highly recommend. The buffet was good but not exceptional. Barbecue was really good and so was Tandoori and the burrito bar. The Pizza Pirate open all night was always good for a midnight snack.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We danced with MarkQ the cruise director on several occasions on the lido deck and sang karaoke with him as he danced on the bar. He was a lot of fun and the shining star of the cruise. We had fun in the casino, played put put golf, bingo, and watched out door movies on the lido deck. All were fun and worth trying. The productions put on stage were well performed and produced.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Had fun and we enjoyed all performances

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The crew is amazing and work hard work to make sure all or needs were taken care of. Our room steward was quick and friendly leaving notes for us and making us wonderful towel animals. The waiters always called us by our names and asked how we were doing

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Ship was clean and well cared for, the only strange thing was getting to the golden pearl restaurant at the back of the ship on the 3rd deck cannot be accessed from the 3rd deck from the front of the ship. You must access from deck 5 to the back of the ship and then go down to the 3rd deck

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Cabin clean when we arrived and our stewards keep it clean for the cruise despite all our messing it up. Location was great close to all the fun and food on the 9th deck. It was usually quite except for a drunk pounding on another cabin door one night. Liked having a balcony but didn’t use it as much as I thought I would. I would book this cabin again

Ship tip

Anytime dining and go early , 5:15-5:30, or go late. Try to make it early to all activities.

Ports of call

Long Beach (Los Angeles), California

3 out of 5
Arrived @ 11 and was extremely busy with people arriving and leaving at the same time. Stayed an extra 2 days and went to Disney. Used Long Beach airport which was quick and easy in and out

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

5 out of 5
Liked Cabo took the boat to the arch, beach, and shopping excursion. The boat ride part was great the rest was a waste of time and money. The beach was disorganized not enough lounge chairs or umbrellas took almost 1/2 hours to get more setup. The provided lunch was more of a snack 3 tacos and a drink. Shopping was one store in town with fixed tourist prices. Would not recommend this excursion

Mazatlan, Mexico

Port is ok we did an excursion on a hop on and off double decker bus. The first stop driving in town to old mazatlan they have an old church was nice to tour. Went from there to a place to shop, eat, or go to the beach. After that the last stop is a place where locals cliff dive for tips. Was ok but wouldn’t do it again.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

5 out of 5
We did the dolphin signature swim which was my wife’s favorite part of the whole cruise. Spent probably 45 minuets in the water with the dolphins. The picture package is expensive but worth it, $178, for @ 80 pictures and a video. They do not allow you to take your own pictures and the pictures included both me and my wife. Would highly recommend and would do this excursion again.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
It wasn’t too bad, you need to be out of cabin before 8:45 am and it took until 10:15 before we were through customs and released. We had faster to the fun and could of left earlier but we’re staying a couple days in Long Beach so we were in no hurry. Ended up having to wait until 2 pm to check into hotel with all our luggage and exhausted from the cruise this was the worst part of our trip.

Great info!

We both share the same opinion. Great job. I totally agree. An older ship but it had so much character that’s missing in the new ones.

I learned pack light also, I now do laundry if need be. Worst vacation should still be better then best day at work. It's all your outlook

Just an FYI, you can no longer bring bottled water onboard. Soda and water must be in a can. I've never seen canned water, so we just pre-order bottled water through the FunShop online before we go, and it's waiting in our cabin when we arrive. We also get the Cheers package, which gives us unlimited bottled water throughout the ship. Glad you enjoyed your cruise!
