Review summary

This was our second time on the Splendor. I was impressed by the improvements they had made from just a year prior. Embarkation, debarkation, and tendering in Cabo were drastically improved! Night and day difference! Food was still not the best maybe even a little worse. The nightly shows were not impressive. Infact at least 1 of the shows was exactly the same as last years cruise. The singing is terrible. Piano bar is awesome! We spent most of our time in comedy club. Drinks are reasonably priced now. Room beds were really comfortable!

Embarkation

Wasted our money and bought the faster to the fun tickets to board early. People just started boarding and they weren't checking there passes. Very unorganized.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Food was ok. Same breakfast everyday. Fruit choices weren't the best. I would have liked to been able to have watermelon and pineapple. Bananas were green. Room service food was not good. I liked the dinner menu. Food was always good and the portion size was bigger then other cruise lines. They have really good pizza! The Indian and Mongolian grill food areas must have been because the lines were always long. Too long for me to wait. The coffee bar had really good dessert for a small fee and there drinks were really good.

Onboard Activities

I really enjoyed the comedy club. They had good comedians but they were only for 30 minutes at a time. We were really disappointed in the night shows. You used to get "vegas" type theatrical shows. The singing was terrible and the shows were simple. Pools were clean. Miniature golf area was nice. Night club was nice.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Room stewards were good. Waiters were all friendly. Ship personnel were really nice.

Ship Quality

Ship was clean and easy to find your way around

Cabin / Stateroom

We had an extended balcony. What a huge deck! A lot of space. I felt like we had a suite. Bed was comfortable except there was nothing between the two twin mattresses to join them. One mattress was higher then the other so it was awkward. A small television is in the room. Plenty of storage space. Lots of windows!

Ports of call

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

5 out of 5
Cabo has good food, drinks and shopping. At the end of the board walk is a nice beach. Wish you were offered more time here. The ship is very unorganized so it took a good hour plus just to get a tender.

Mazatlan, Mexico

3 out of 5
Mazatlan is run down. We got an open air taxi down to the Golden Zone. Shops are all the same. Ate at Panchos. Really good food and drinks. Beach is nice. Parasailed there and that was nice.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

We did the snorkeling excursion and it takes you to Yelapa. This is well worth the money. Free food and drinks is are provided. We saw whales and dolphins! Snorkeling spot is ok. Water isn't too clear. Yelapa is a real authentic Mexican village.

Disembarkation

Terrible system! Faster to the fun was no help. The crew had people go to different areas of the boat based on your zone. Seemed like it was going to be a smooth experience. However, they didn't stick to there rules. People who were in zone 10 would go to zone 1 and get off sooner making others wait longer.
