Review summary

The Splendor is a beautiful ship and meticulously maintained.  All the decks, restaurants, rest rooms, gym, common areas ... everything was spotless and always being cleaned by the pleasant crew members.  This is not an Ad for Carnival, just the truth.  Carnivals logistics and customer service was outstanding. The only issue was the wi-fi service aboard. It took us a couple of days to realize that the signal was best in the center common areas of the ship, and not too good in the room.  The New Years celebration was really nice, and we finished in the Red Carpet lounge till 2:30am.  My wife and I truly enjoyed the voyage and are reserving this ship again for next new year!

All you can eat.... different buffets at different times. The Carvery is very good. We also enjoyed the Indian buffet.

Service and Staff

All crew members were friendly and were happy to answer questions and give you directions on the ship.

Ship Quality

Impeccably maintained! Kudos for Carnival!

Cabin / Stateroom

Take a three outlet connector and a multiple outlet power strip to connect chargers and other electronic gadgets. Only one outlet in cabin. We loved the Balcony Stateroom. Very roomy, three closets, plenty of drawers, and you can slide your bags under the bed to reduce clutter.

Ship tip

We were on board for 7 days and still missed some areas in the aft area. It is a large ship and it is fun to explore. Liquor is cheaper in Cozumel than on board.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

Very friendly people. We did the buggy island tour excursion and loved it.

Belize City, Belize

Carnival's private beach is not too good, many shells and rocks in sand. Port shops have some nice trinkets and clothes.

Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

Carnivals private beach is great, but forget about snorkeling there. I only saw one large Angel Fish. Next time we will take an excursion to the west end where the nice beaches and snorkeling can be found.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

The port shops are a large tourist trap area, but nice trinkets and jewelry is available, as well as some nice eating joints. We were not interested in the ruins excursions, but they may be nice for those who like it.

For serious picture uploads, just go to the main ship areas and the signal is great. Carnival offers 3 tiers of Wi-Fi Service.  I had to do some real work on the ship, so I selected the maximum service for $99 unlimited use for the entire cruise.  The basic social media program or the intermediate may be enough for your needs, and cheaper.
