Review summary

All excited about the cruise until you really look at the ship and taste the food. Our cabin steward was awesome, waiters were great, ports were good. The ship at first glance appeared very nice, until you really looked at a ship in need of refurbishment, worn, stained, all the seats in the dining rooms and buffet were way to low. Food was good, but nothing special, unless you wanted to pay more for it. Deserts were of no taste, just cake or jello, etc. no flavor. The ice cream machine was awesome and available at all hours. The cruise director was Horrible, however his staff was very good and attentive, shows were ok. The comedy clubs was good and bad (Geechy Guy).

No, I did not leave the Christmas ceremonies, they were one of the reasons I chose a December cruise. But I did not appreciate the way Kevin conducted them. People who enjoy Christmas celebrations like that, usually like them to be somewhat traditional. Joyful and happy is good. Disco dancing to religious carols is not. If he did that up on deck or in the nightclub, then no problem.

Did you leave the tree lighting after you witnessed all that? I love Kevin, he makes things FUN. That is what Carnival is known for....

I also cruised on the Splendor Dec. 6-13, and I was also not impressed with the cruise director Kevin. We had a Christmas tree lighting one night, and a Christmas Carol Sing on another night, in the lobby. He conducted each of these like it was a disco dance. Not every Christmas song is conducive to prancing, stomping and gyrating, yet that's what he did. It was very distracting.

We were on the Splendor Dec 6-13 and had Kevin as our Cruise Director. He was awesome! Who did you have?

It will be going in for a major overhaul at the beginning of March. It will be made into one of their 2.0 ships
