Review summary

Overall not bad. We had a wonderful time in Puerto Rico, St Thomas, and Grand Turk. Amber Cove was OK, but brand new for a port and just a place with tourist shops and a Zip line. That place needs more variety.

The ship was great. We had the largest cabin we have ever had and it was just an ocean view.  I'm sure it was because this ship is wider than a Panamax ship so it can't go through the old Panama Canal locks. We loved the extra space.

We did the anytime dining plan which worked out well for dinner. The food was good to excellent, but overall not over the top like you get on Celebrity or Disney type cruising. There were no special buffets like a party on the pool deck or chocolate extravaganza, just the basics. Didn't expect more so it met expectations.

Liked the "dive-in theater" at the pool. Never watched a movie, but it looked fun.

Overall, good cruise with friendly staff who worked hard when you showed your appreciation. I would do Carnival again.

Largest cabin we have ever had. Be sure to go to customer service and ask for an adapter if you need more than one power outlet.

Ship tip

The Mongolian Grill was awesome.

Nine of us were on that one too. Everyone had fun. Some did the zip line but not me. We love movie nights, eat early to get seats. Some ships have upper deck n loungers. It's so nice to feel the sea air. Doing Elation 3/5 and Magic 3/20 with kids.

The Zip line in Amber Cove was not free but since I didn't go I don't know the price.

As for in port excursions, we did our own adventures in St Thomas and Puerto Rico. Just walked off the pier in St Thomas and we went with 10 other people that our driver rounded up and went on a two hour island tour for $25 each. Actually had her drop us off at the beach by the airport and pick us up an hour later after the tour.

Puerto Rico was the same method. Nice air conditioned tour of Old San Juan for $10 per person.

Just an FYI... I was on the same cruise.... The chocolate extravaganza was on the last sea day at 12:30pm in the Lido towards the aft pool. It was delicious! I agree though that they need a pool deck party!

I loved it! The stingrays in Gran Turk was amazing! In Puerto Rico we took a guide tour once we got off the boat there are different tours you can see without booking it with the ship. In St Thomas we went scuba diving and it was amazing. I loved the huge tv out by the pool. It is like swimming and watching a movie. The food is great too. The ship is gorgeous and there is so much to do. I love Carnival Splendor
