Review summary

Let me start by saying this was our first cruise, our normal vacation is an all inclusive resort. We will continue to do the resorts in the future. I get it, you are on the boat for 2 days where you either drink yourself silly, gamble, watch shows, go to the spa, eat, or go to a pool and literally rub elbows with other cruisers. My point is, most of this costs money and in order to occupy yourself for 2 days, you spend lots of it.

I just didn't enjoy the confinement aspect of it. Yes the boat is big but, I like being able to go anywhere and do anything I want while I am on vacation. I like big pools and being able to go to the beach at any time of the day.

I will say though that, Kevin the Cruise Director kept us thoroughly amused. He was a hoot. We loved it when he came on the loud speaker. It was our comic relief. It really wouldn't have been the same without him. So, thanks Kevin!

Watch the channel about excursions right away. We didn't find out until the night before the Amber Cove Port that there is basically nothing to do there.

That's awesome. And yes, I will be quite tipsy the entire cruise hahaha. Drink package is totally worth it.

Fortunately my cruise was a gift from the company I work for. They send a few couples every year so I am not sure what they paid. I would assume with airfare it was around $3000. My husband and I usually get a package deal to Riviera Maya for $2000 depending on the season, the grounds where we stay are beautiful and there is plenty to do without getting bored.

If you are a drinker, and plan to be shwasted the entire cruise definitely purchase the drink package, it will be worth it.  Have fun everyone! I also forgot to mention that the bartenders and housekeepers are phenomenal they will remember your name after only one encounter.

Our first cruise is in 12 days. We typically do all inclusive resorts but it gets.boring towards the end. We got a balcony room, the booze package and faster to the fun passes. I think it'll be a blast and about the same overall cost.

I'd love to know how much you paid for your cruise. I'm going on my third cruise next week, and my cruise fare, flights and drink package were all cheaper than staying at a resort.

and that's with airfare too!

I agree. We could stay at a 5 star all inclusive resort (alcohol and food) for the cost of the cruise alone. But, my husband wants to try cruising so we will be taking our 1st cruise in 6 months.
