Review summary
The chef needs to improve his skills as most of the food was awful. The ship was not well maintained...door of cabinet housing refrigerator came off the hinges, refrigerator was not working, one of the lifeboats was constantly being worked on, ceiling showed water marks in many areas, metal gleamed only at eye level, above that, it was pitted, unpainted or rusted, carpeting was threadbare, window and door in room filthy, balcony chair and railing paint specked and arm rests of chair were greasy! Guest Services hung up on me when I called and asked question, everything pricey and mercenary, invitation to hear a talk on toxins was merely a come on to buy a product, photos ridiculously expensive, no bargains in shops, unable to understand a word of the announcements and because they did not pipe into your room, you didn't hear them well, either. Several pipes dripping (hopefully water) on me as I walked under them, entertainment mostly mediocre, some amateurish like the girl hosting the boring "Family Feud" audience participation skit who could not refrain from saying "Snap" every other sentence. Inability to accommodate gluten free food anywhere but in the dining room and that had to be ordered a day in advance and often you received something totally different than your order. Pumpkin pie on menu turned out to be a tiny bowl of watery pumpkin filling ...no crust! One disappointment after another.

I went to your profile to try to compare any of the other "4-6" cruises you have been on to your review of the Splendor. There were none. Although some of the issues you addressed sound justified (such as the door falling off the hinges), others are common on other cruise lines. First, there is more than one chef onboard so it would be his crew of cooks that are to blame "IF" the food was as bad as you say. Photo's expensive...and your surprised? They are on all the cruises I have been on ($35 for an 8X10). Were the pipes that were dripping on you out on deck? If they were, that was most likely condensation. If it wasn't on deck, since pipes are not exposed in passenger areas, you were somewhere you weren't supposed to be. Announcements are not normally "piped" into cabins UNLESS it is an emergency announcement. Heck, I don't want to be disturbed by an announcement of the days happenings when I already have a copy of the Carnival Capers in my hand. I could go on but why bother. If you have been on "4-6" cruises as you state in your profile, some of these issues you have experienced before. You should look for a job as a mystery shopper because it sounds as though you are REALLY good at picking things apart!!
