Review summary

This is an old ship. It shows its age but is very clean. Loved it for Alaska. Crew was great. They need to make some of the stops a lot longer.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Dinning room could use some additional help. Workers were very busy and it was apparent that they needed more help to provide better service. Food at steak house was excellent, and Guys Burgers was the usual. Buffet was good and like the Pirate Pizza. Dining room meals were just OK, but we never left hungry.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
To be honest, we didn't participate in them a lot. We took this trip to see Alaska so we skipped a lot of the onboard activities. Hot tubs were too full so I never used them. I did a facial but wouldn't do it again. Nothing amazing and the after sell was annoying.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
Shows were boring. Comedians for first half were OK and the second set was better. Very annoyed that my 17 year old son was not allowed in the R rated shows with me with him. He can see rated R movies with an adult and felt that I should have been able to let him in. This was the only thing to do at night as a family. He was too young for casinos and wanted to hang with his family including two older brothers.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff was friendly and hard working.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Very clean but it shows its age. It needs to have a makeover. The layout and size is great.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Very clean and layout was nice. Needs to be updated with more than one outlet! Love the aft wrap balcony. Deck 7 was great. Rarely took an elevator.

Ship tip

Ship is warm even in Alaska. The aft balcony had no wind so I was wearing t-shirts most of time. I thought it would be colder. Worth the money for the aft wrap around. Spent a lot of time watching wildlife from the balcony. Had to leave door to balcony open at night because the room was way too hot.

Seattle, Washington

We explored on our own and it was a fun city to visit.

Cruise Tracy Arm Fjord, Alaska

So glad we did the excursion. It was amazing.

Skagway, Alaska

We did the train and the Wilderness Ocean Raft. My sons LOVED the Wilderness Ocean raft which was high speed. We saw a ton of harbor seals and bald eagles. It was a great excursion. The train was OK, but we didn't see any wildlife and was kind of boring. My 17 year old fell asleep. He wasn't the only one sleeping on the train. But the views were pretty incredible.

Juneau, Alaska

Loved this port and wish we had more time here. Why leave at 3??? We did a helicopter to dog sledding and it was the highlight of the whole vacation. Did a quick stop at Tracy's Crab Shack which was excellent. Barely got to shop as we had to get back on ship.

Ketchikan, Alaska

We took a private tour through Emerald Forest Tours which was a last minute booking that turned out to be one of the best excursions. Hans took us to see a waterfall. We did a hike. We saw a bear with her cubs, tons of bald eagles, and starfish at the beach. It was great way to see everything in a short time. We had to be back on the ship at 12:30. They need to make this stop a lot longer. I could have spent many more hours here.

Victoria, British Columbia

The hours of 8-midnight was ridiculous but the city was beautiful. We walked around downtown and sat outside at a pub. I wish we had more time to actually explore the town.
