Some disappointing weather in Grand Turk but Half Moon Cay made up for it. Absolutely stunning. Overall a great experience, especially for a first cruise 🚢 🇧🇸🐬🧜🏻‍♀️🏝

Surprised and dissappointed at the lack of appropriate and effective communication for the Deaf on this cruise. by msice

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Bermuda

I traveled with a group of 23 people. 7 of these people were Deaf. Each Deaf person filled out a Special Needs form that stated they were Deaf and would require a interpreter while on the cruise. This was done more than a year and a half ago. I followed up on the request multiple times as the Deaf had questions about embarkation and the safety drill among other things. I would speak with the travel agent and the travel agent then followed up with Carnival. We were given a form letter that stated the responsibility of the interpreter which we fully understood and accepted. We were aware that the expected interpreters would have to be shared. The 7 Deaf included 4 women and 3 men of various ages and only 2 were a couple. We had discussed prior to the sail date that we would probably have to split up and some people go to one activity and others to another. We were shocked and dismayed to arrive on the ship to find there was only one interpreter available for all 7 of the Deaf for the entire week. Unfortunately things just continued to go downhill from there. We had a very difficult time contacting the interpreter throughout the week. When we were able to get in contact and request interpretation for a event, The interpreter was either late or didn't bother to show up at all. On one occasion when the interpreter didn't show up for a requested activity, security was called on one of the gentlemen after he tapped a woman on the shoulder to ask her to move a little to the side because she had stepped in front of him and he couldn't hear what was happening and now couldn't even see the stage. Needless to say we were very disappointed in the inability of Carnival to furnish the Deaf with the appropriate services required by law to ensure effective communication. Not only were they not able to fully enjoy a cruise that they paid for and looked forward too, I was not able to either. I spent most of my time either at guest services, trying to track down the interpreter, talking to the person in charge, on the phone with the travel agent, trying to interpret for some of the activities, and trying my best to bridge the gap in between. Carnival dropped the ball in this case.

I cruised to Bermuda from Baltimore MD on this ship and although it is a smaller and older ship I still had an amazing time. All of the staff was great friendly and very attentive and remember most by name or drink they as having. Shout out to Karen, Astley and Chipo in the Casino who was very professional and friendly. The food was excellent over all a great experience 😁

HAD A BALL! by kikihickson

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Bermuda

I had soooooo much fun. This was my 3rd time on the Pride and the ONLY thing I had a problem with was that at night mostly (i was mostly out of the room) that is was soo creaky. I was in an interior with a bunk bed and i was on the top bunk (so it might have been me lmbo). The Staff was AWESOME, the Cruise Director was AMAZING, and the food was GRRREAT. What was even better was that i met sooooooo many GRRRRRRREAT people. I couldnt have asked for a better cruise vacation. I cant wait to cruise on her again (2020).

My wife and I were... by Dogzbone

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Pride

My wife and I were both first time cruisers and we loved the ship. We were celebrating our 20th anniversary and received a very nice treat of chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of bubbly from John Heald. The ship on a stick was a nice touch! We were in cabin 8133 with two other people. It was cozy but not overly cramped. The extended balcony made a nice getaway from the occasionally over crazy lido deck. Food was outstanding! Waitstaff were generally quick and attentive. The dining room shows were great topped off by our very own serenading of the “Happy Anniversary “ song! Crew was very friendly and ready to assist whenever needed. The Fun Squad was just that...fun. I appreciated that they were there to make sure you had a good time if you wanted it and not in the “in your face you’re gonna have fun whether you like it or not” way. The only real gripes I have is that bingo isn’t worth the price to play and the casino is so smoky that it was wafting into adjacent areas. Once while playing trivia in the Piazza cafe the smoke was so bad we left immediately after the game was over. Overall it was a fantastic trip and I would love to see what the ship looks like after dry dock in February.

Loved the cruise and all the ports. Would love to go back to Balitmore, but with the ship being what it is. We really wouldn't care to go back on her, Sad but it's true. Maybe after dry dock, but for me it just wasn't the Sunshine.

Just got off the ship.... by tunicam28

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Pride

Just got off the ship. It was ok. Most of the staff were friendly and professional. Our cruise director Cookie with very good. My biggest compliant would have to be the smoking. It was impossible to get away from it even in the non-smoking areas. There is smoking at one of the pools which was filled with people smoking cigars as well. The casino (which I expected) but that smoke came into the sports bar since one door was attached to the casino. The lounge area where they had trivia was always Smokey from the casino. I've been on other Carnival ships and the smoke seems to be contained to the casino. This was definitely not the case with the Pride.

Very Nice Cruise by sunshine2371

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Overall, we enjoyed this cruise. However it is time that the Carnival Pride gets updated. The paintings are very faded, the décor is old and it generally makes you feel old when you look around the ship. Things are rusty, and in some cases broken. But mostly, it's well taken care of. Definitely worth the cheap price, but if you want something new and updated, look for another ship.

Wonderful cruise by rosevoigts

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)

We had a really great time on our cruise with our one year old son. There were some things we wished would have been available for children his age, such as daytime babysitting, changing tables, and kid friendly healthy foods. We loved all of the staff onboard, they remembered our son’s name the entire trip and always accommodated us with a high chair in the dining hall. Turks and Half Moon Cay were great, all you needed to pay for was the chairs on the beach in Turks and half Moon Cay you can use your carnival room key to pay for drinks right on the beach. They also provided lunch there which was convenient and a huge plus for the entire day on the beautiful beach there. Freeport, you either need to pay for an excursion or a taxi to get to a private beach. We paid for an “excursion” which was a taxi ride to the beach and then we needed to pay to get on the beach, which was an extra $8 per person. I wouldn’t suggest getting any excursions which say drinks are included, ours stated that and the taxi driver gave us $5 bahama currency which didn’t even pay for a water bottle at the beach bar. My suggestion would be to pay for a taxi to a beach and be ready to pay a fee to get on the beach and for drinks. The one perk which we enjoyed on the beach we went to was they had complimentary paddle boarding and kayaking. They also had zip lining and jet skiing available for an extra fee. The beach we went to was called pirates cove. The cruise ship itself was very clean, the staff were always friendly and hard workers, and the director was extremely fun and energetic. We would love to go on another cruise based on our first experience with carnival pride.

Wonderful Caribbean Cruise by Angel56414

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Best trip of my life! We loved that our island 'transportation' was also our hotel. The all inclusive food was amazing, the on board entertainment was amazing, and the room was amazing. I have never slept so well in my life. The soft mattress, and motion of the boat knocked me out right away. The staff truly treat you like royalty. I can't wait to take another cruise!

PLEASE STAY AWAY by mil2892

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not travel on Carnival Cruise Lines. Biggest rip-off I have ever experienced. This cruise was for a family reunion, which I paid in installments for over a year. When the date finally arrives, I drive to the port. While I am driving into the parking lot, an attendant stops me and tells me that I have to check my luggage, which I soon discover is a lie. Attendant was obviously trying to get more tips. After I get to the boarding area, I am told that I cannot board ship without my passport, which is still in my luggage. Even though the paperwork that Carnival sent me clearly states that no passport is necessary if departing from and returning to same U.S. port.So this was the second lie... So now they will not allow me to go to the baggage area to retrieve my passport, saying that they would locate it. Mind you, this was at 1:00 for a cruise departing at 5:00. Long story short, they claimed that they could not find my luggage in four hours and still refused to let mego on and find it. I suggested they have security accompany me in the event I couldn't produce it and they refused. I eventually was denied boarding and forced to miss my family reunion. As for the rip-off portion, Carnival refused to refund any of my money, saying that this was my fault and that I should have purchased trip protection.I sent them all of the paperwork showing that they were at fault, and they still refused. They offered me a $300 credit on another cruise, but I wouldn't go to the corner store with Carnival. I am in the process of taking legal action, which I am assured that I will win. But it is ridiculous for a customer to be treated this way. I would implore you to select another cruise line with much better customer service.
