First cruise honeymoon/birthday by kittykahos

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I enjoyed most of my first cruise the only parts that I have to say that I frowned upon were that we boarded the ship late about 2 to 3 hours late ( less time to get situated) missed out on show's and things to do we missed a port completely RAN into and I mean straight into the storm the boat actually tipped on its side for like 10 minutes our bathroom door slammed shut broke off the handle snapped the screw in half and was jammed shut got home super early less time for our last shows and foods now for the good parts we did book excursions we went to forever Florida omg Soooooooooo much fun but was disappointed that carnival didn't pay for more things at this port after this we had a hot stones massage it was nice but the ladies after were trying to push products onto us they were nice don't get me wrong but pushy as all get out learned allot for Nassau we booked the native quest for the amount that we paid for this excursion I would have expected bigger samples you get like a tiny itty bitty sample but overall it was fun and educational after this one we walked around and it was like every 5 seconds "want your hair braided" " hey lady want your hair braided" this one guy ran up on us kind of ambushed us started putting a bracelet on my wrist before I could say no and kept looking around like someone was going to jump him put it on my wrist gave my newly Wed husband 2 bracelets and was like "help the needy children the crippled children" still looking around like that so my husband builds out 23 dollars about ready to have the guy the 3 dollars the guy snached it all and ran off so needless to say we made our way back to the boat again with the hair braiding every 5 seconds we were glad to make it back on the boat after we board later in the day there was an announcement that we were skipping our lasts port that one was going to be the all inclusive free booze and food exclusive beach paid extra for this one and we skip it I would just like to say that if I knew earlier in the day that we water going to skip this port I would have upgraded to the Atlantis package I wanted to go there so bad but was too expensive since we had got our monies back from Freeport I would have upgraded to Atlantis the staff was wonderful I didn't like that after a certain hour that you couldn't get drinks except from the room service we paid for the bottomless bubbles and they do not explain that that program doesn't work on room service so we had to pay for the drinks that we paid for on that program now admittedly we did get our money back for the excursion that we got in Freeport plus 11 dollars I do not think that was satisfactory for me

Nice family cruise by kcathyd

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Although we went through hurricane Hermine, the Captain an excellent job.  I suggest everyone always eat in the family dining rooms, as you feel you have a better food experience.  Also Guy Fieri Burgers are Delicious, and that Ships Burrito stand, impeccable; everyday, need to stay opened longer though.

All and all a nice trip.

First cruise, First tropical storm at sea. by lewallenk

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

First cruise, 3 generational family of 4.  Top notch steward service, very friendly and attentive.  Ship staff also very professional.  David's Steakhouse, great food and service, worth the extra expense.  Alchemy Bar, top notch cocktail service by Gabriel.  Give him a hint at what you want and he gives you a helluva cocktail.  Sushi restaurant also very good but costs extra. Normandie Restaurant, good service, so-so food but small portions.  Guys Burgers and Pizza Pirate also very good.  Buffet service was so-so, long lines so that by the time you had your plate full and found a table, your food was already cold.

Incoming ship was 3 hours late arriving therefore the Carnival was late loading the next cruise.  People waited outside in the Baltimore heat for several hours, no one informed the people of what was happening.  After a couple hours, someone brought out of two containers of water but not enough for everyone.

Booked two connecting balcony suites back in March, verified on the Carnival website ship layout that they were connected.  Reservations were messed up and didn't find out until we were on board that the rooms were on opposite ends of the ship, forward and aft.  Customer Services only wanted to send an inquiry to the booking agent to find out what happened.  Suggested to Customer Service that perhaps the couple in our suite would swap rooms which they did.

Son had a haircut and beard trim while on board but the barber shaved his beard instead.

Hurricane Hermine.  Captain decided to cut cruise short on Thursday evening and eliminate the Freeport tour.  Headed straight from Nassau, Bahamas to Baltimore and into Hermine.  Friday, the weather turned to the worse, heavy rain and winds.  Ship was rocking and rolling in all directions, leaning over left and right as much as 45 degrees.  Rocked so far to the right that I was tossed out of bed.  Glasses broken, trash cans moving from their location under the sink and hit my wife's foot.  Some passengers had their television tossed to the floor even though they are braced down to the shelf.  Rain came in our Deck 7 balcony door and wet the carpet completely.  Informed the staff but it was still wet that evening.  Weather and waves didn't clear up until we reached the Chesapeake Bay, protected on both sides with a land mass.

Most passengers agreed that had the Captain stayed on course and went to Freeport that we would have trailed behind the storm and missed the worst of it. If not all of the storm, allowing it to proceed further up the Eastern Seaboard. Cruise personnel did reimburse the off-shore excursions fees promptly.  Carnival reimbursed 20% of 2 nights stay for the inconvenience.

I feel that all of the passengers should be reimbursed more for the inconveniences experienced on board,  Perhaps a deep discount on future cruise.

Overall, we had very little fun onboard the Carnival Pride. felt more like a senior citizen cruise instead of family oriented.  We may plan another cruise in the near future.  Perhaps on one of the larger newer class ships.

Baltimore cruise by mlmetzler

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Cruise was average.  The boat itself could have been cleaner and better kept.  The food was average.  Carnival's private island half moon cay was beautiful along with grand Turk.  We didn't care for Freeport too much and the stay there was rather short.  The staff was friendly and helpful.

Sad cruise by marylandgirlnow

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We have sailed on about a dozen cruises.  This trip on the Carnival Pride was the worst we have been on.  Service in the dining room was poor, quality of the food has gone down, entertainment was not scheduled every night, ship needs a redo.

Top Notch Service by BMoreCruiser7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The service on the Carnival Pride is top notch. The staff is very attentive and they go out of the way to make sure you have a great cruise! On day 2, our cabin steward Made surprised me with a birthday card with 3 gift cards to use on board at the Spa, Pixels and towards a bottle of wine. The staff in the Normandie dining room encouraged my husband and I to take a dessert to go when we had previously  decided to just share a dessert,  they insisted we take one for later. The staff on the Pride rocks! The ship is clean and well maintained. Grand Turk and Half Moon Cay were some of the most ports I've ever been to. Freeport doesn't have much to offer but the other ports certainly make up for it. I loved this cruise and will definitely sail with Carnival again!

Best Cruise Ever! by milliejbrown

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Carnival isn't known as  "The Fun Ships" without cause.  There were so many fun things to do on the ship.  The food and service were commendable.  I'm hoping my entire family will consider a Carnival cruise for our Family Reunion in a couple of years.  was soooo helpful.  Best cruise ever!

Didn't want it to end! by mznicole08

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was our first cruise and we couldn't have picked a better cruise line! the cruise director, Steve Schwartz, was the absolute best, and all of the crew members were so friendly. Everyone made sure that we were taken care of and we had a great time. The shows were spectacular and there were always activities to do from when you woke up and past midnight. We're definitely going to be back on Carnival!

Seen Better by asglantz

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I've been on other cruises, this one left a lot to be desired. The boat was in disrepair (not unsafe, but I expected better) trash was left to pile up in smoking areas. The adult only pool and bar closed at 9 pm. Very little info on taxi rates to advertised shopping in Freeport, which was a major hassle. Restaurant food was OK, staff was OK, nothing impressive. My shower backed up one day, I was unable to reach guest services by phone after multiple calls. Finally went down and spoke to them in person, they said they would send someone to check it. No one ever showed up (shower fixed itself 2 hours later). I would not repeat travel with carnival.

Carnival Pride: an old ship with poor service by fred59422095

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Let me start with the bottom line--my wife and I will never take another cruise with Carnival Cruise Lines.  We have been on many cruises on several different cruise lines, but this cruise was going to be very special; we were taking our two kids and their families on this cruise to celebrate our 50th anniversary.  We selected this cruise because even a year in advance no both cruise on any cruise line met our very specific needs (a unique configuration of cabins for the 10 of us and set dates for the cruise).  We didn't care about the ports of call.  This was an opportunity for all of us to be together and celebrate.  We looked forward to this cruise for a year and were very excited when we finally were embarking.  Then it all began to unravel...

1. The cabins were relics of another era and desperately in need of updating both in terms of decor and facilities for modern travelers.  For example, our suite had only one outlet that was inconveniently located.  This in 2016 were everyone has electronic devices that need to be re-charged.

2. After paying a considerable premium for a suite and all of the extras that normally come with a suite we were quite surprised to find out that paying for a suite got you nothing but a slightly larger cabin than the balcony cabins that each of our kids had.  No dedicated steward, no complimentary laundry service, no stocked minibar (not even a free bottle of water- had to pay $3.75 for a liter of water), no complimentary hors d'oeuvres before dinner, nothing but but the room.

3. We had made a specific request for a table for 10.  Much to our dismay, when we arrive for dinner on the first night we learned that our group was split up and assigned to different tables.  After some discussion with the manager he was able to get us a table for 10, but with some conditions: we had to dine at 5:45PM and had to vacate the table by 7:00PM as it was reserved for another large party at 7:30PM.

4.  Our dining service team was not ready for prime time.  Did not speak English ver well and had difficulty communicating with us.  Asking a simple question such as "How is this dish prepared?" was met with a quizzical look.  And then with an "I don'y know" followed by a disappearing water who does not return for 10 minutes.  After tasting an appetizer and finding it not to your liking requesting a different appetizer only to have it served after your main course.

5.  There's an old joke about describing a dinner at a fine restaurant- "The food was terrible, and the portions were so small."  Our experience was no joke; the food was mediocre at best, the portions were small, and there was no attempt to make an attractive presentation (visualize a small crab cake served on a white plate with a small cup of roumelade  next to the crab cake; not even a bed of lettuce!).

6.  There was a separate charge for everything (except soft serve ice cream and pizza).  Even with the unlimited soda and juice package, there was a separate $5.95 (+ 15% gratuity ) for a drink that was literally a combination of two juices poured into a glass (no alcohol).  The reason, it was a "specialty" drink.

7.  To top it all off, our luggage was lost after disembarking.  Carnival staff were not at all helpful.  We kept getting a "Did you look over there?" response to our requests for assistance.  No help trying to find our luggage.  After an hour we are finally directed to the office, where the Carnival staffer initially told us "Somebody probably took your luggage by mistake; they usually return it in a couple of hours." Her expectation was that we could or would hang around for a couple of hours.  We told her that we had a plane to catch and asked if Carnival would ship it to us when they found it.  Her response "Well you could always come back and get it."  Really? From New Mexico.  What part of we have a plane to catch did she not understand.  We filled out a lost luggage form and left with a Carnival phone number to call on Monday.  The good news is that the person at Carnival HQ was courteous and very helpful.  We are hopeful that our luggage will arrive in New Mexico in a couple of days.

I could go on and on, but I've vented enough for now.  Oh, despite all of this we had a wonderful time celebrating our Golden Anniversary with our whole family.

My daughter and I have been on this cruise 4 times before this, this was the best so far. We had an amazing Cruise Director, and as you know for those who cruise alot, they can make your cruise unforgetable! Hopefully you all will be fortunate like us and cruise with either Schwartz or Leigh!

Great Cruise by kimop527

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The cruise was very nice.  The food was exceptional in both the Lido deck and the main dining room.  We were really impressed by the way the staff treated us like family; and the cruise director Schwartz, was no exception!  The comedians were hilarious; and the onboard production shows were ok.  The only thing we really did not care for was the short stay in Grand Turk,  We were also a little disappointed with the glass bottom boat excursion we took in Half Moon Cay.  The person giving the tour was very dry in her presentation and she gave off a temperamental vibe which seemed to put everyone onboard in a somber mood.  We all felt that the excursion was not worth $44. Other than that, the cruise was good and we would recommend it.

My 1st Carnival cruise, better than expected. Good food, clean, nice room and service. Limited entertainment quality...very slow embarkation and disembarkation. very cold on the ship as the AC was very strong.

Faster to The Fun by SRLee

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The food and activities were tremendous.  The drinks were somewhat pricey. Although the cruise was billed as "Bahama", the port side docking time at Nassau was less than that at the Florida Port Canaveral.  The time at Freeport was even shorter.

The Carnival website says canned carbonated beverages are allowed on board. Being only a water drinker, our bottled water were confiscated.

Overall, the cruise was enjoyable.  On boarding at Baltimore, there was no sign to indicate where "Faster to The Fun" ($59.95) should line up.  Likewise, our suitcases did not make it to our room even though "The Faster to The Fun" promises they be in our room when we were aboard.

The boarding was more orderly - but the disembarkation was very chaotic.

Lot of sea time.... by slenahan15

Really liked the relaxation of extended sea time.  Baltimore port was very easy to get to. Easy parking. Florida was nice, Nassau was nice, Freeport a little seedy.

Best Vacation I have been on by Behappy27

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The Carnival Pride was an Excellent experience.  The staff was extremely friendly, the onboard activities was plentiful to keep you busy while you were at sea.  I highly recommend attending there shows, especially the comedy shows, And also you must try The Chef's Table, will be one of the best culinary experience's you could have.  The sushi restaurant on board is excellent as well, and 24hour pizza was very good especially after drinking in the casino all night.

Carnival Pride by aangel525

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I wanted to write a short review.  We took Carnival Pride out of Baltimore Md last year and it was great!  My husband and I took our honeymoon to the Bahamas,  Well we decided to take our son and my mother in law (it was their first cruise) back to the Bahamas on Carnival Pride.  I hate to say this but our room was not ready when we got on board of the ship.  There was dirty sheets and towels on the floors.  4 our of the 7 dinners we had in the dining area was bad.  Service was bad, I got food that came out wrong and came out cold and had to send it back.  I had booked a private island beach with BBQ lunch and when we got off the ship in the Bahamas they gave us a wrist band and it said Hamburg or Hot dog and a drink?  I paid for a BBQ lunch and wasn't excepting to have that.  Very disappointed.  If I would have known that I would have not paid the extra for the food and drink.  It was about $200 for 3 adults and 1 child.  I would have brought snacks and drinks with me.  For my mother in law and son's first cruise they didn't  have a good time.  I am not sure if I will be taking Carnival Pride again.

great excursions & staff!! by angela39087414

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

the staff was very friendly and gave great dinner time performances! the excursions were a little pricy, but delivered an almost flawless experience for the 6 of us :)

the cabin wasn't very clean, we were missing some ordered items, it was also incredibly outdated and small for the 4 of us. Our Mothers room was much cleaner and updated....
