Good time by barbieed

Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We had a nice time, everyone was pleasant.  We spent a lot of time in the casino and the dealers were excellent and extremely nice.  My only complaint was the food on the ship was  mediocre at best.

Great family vacation by Beccabellemom

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We loved the staff and all the activities they had on the ship. The kids day camp was a bust so our daughters stayed with us the whole time. There was plenty to do and good options for the food. One of our favorite things was the nightly shows. The performers were great! It was our first cruise and we diffently want to go again.

We had a great time on our cruise.  The carnival staff was phenomenal and the food was superb.  I highly recommend this cruise line.   This was our 4th cruise, two with carnival and two with another line.  This past cruise was the best.

We loved our vacation.  This was the first cruise my family has been on together.  All of the Carnival employees were fun, friendly and very nice.  The ship was beautiful, the food was fantastic and we could not have asked for better service.  I will be a returning customer.

Cruise to the Bahamas by caabell

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

What I liked best on this cruise was the friendly, helpful people that ran the cruise, especially Steve, the cruise director.  With lots of things to occupy oneself with, the time went by while the waves crashed, the winds blew, delicious food was consumed as were lots of drinks. We went to the Kennedy Space Center and enjoyed that insightful visit, which brought back many memories and much inspiration about what our country has accomplished.  The port of call in Nassau included a short tour and an underwater look at the coral reefs and fish.  Unfortunately our planned horseback ride on the beach had been cancelled because of the weather while we were in Free Port.  We were delighted with the whole trip and would certainly recommend it to others who would enjoy the trip to the Bahamas on the Carnival Pride.

Cruise out of Baltimore by mcangelier

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Favorite part of cruise was service from our room steward and all of the waiters.

Worst part - entertainment.   Shows in theater were bad.   The only music in lounges was guitar - also bad.   Long time cruiser - first time on Carnival.   Won't be back.  Serenity pool area was great; however, the mats on the chairs were soaking wet each day.   Too bad they can't be brought in at night.

first cruise by martink243

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I loved the food, the service and the friendliness of the staff.  The ride was very smooth.  I felt as if I was sitting in my living room for the most part.  The entertainment I saw was excellent.  There was always some activity to suit every need.  I wish they would make accommodations for single travelers.  Having to pay double for the cabin had always dissuaded me from cruising.

The good, the bad, and the really, really ugly. by flyersfan1129

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

First, let me say that I really WANTED to like Carnival. We had only ever cruised on Disney, but with my husband in a new job, he was unable to get the time off for our Disney Cruise. So, I pushed the DCL cruise up a year, and looked for an alternative cruise for my son and myself. The Pride sails from Baltimore, which is an hour drive from our home. This cruise was the same days as our DCL, with the added bonus of a stop in Port Canaveral, which would give me a day at WDW. My son has always wanted to go to Atlantis, so I booked this and was really excited to see a new ship and visit new ports. I organized a FB group, bought door decorations, Command Strips, Cruise Cash and booked our excursion to Atlantis. I also bought Faster to the Fun so we could board early, and counted down the days. On our embarkation day, my husband dropped us off at 10:30, as we had the FTTF. We sat in the terminal and met a really cool family that we ended up eating with just about every night. We sat and talked. And sat, and sat, and sat. And sat some more. We didn't board until about 12:45. Our cabin, 8207, was ready, so we decided to sit on the balcony for a few minutes....but our balcony was covered in paint chips. One look up showed that the paint was coming from the ceiling, which was a nasty mess of peeling paint. The ceiling on the balcony next to us was peeling apart, almost like it was wet cardboard, and there was some sort of general ickiness falling from that. I called Guest Services and asked to be moved, or to have the balcony cleaned. Moving was not an option as the boat was at capacity, but I was told the balcony would be cleaned. OK, great! I unpacked our day bag loving the three closets and drawers, even though they were showing some wear. The bathroom shelves were covered in dust, but I just whipped out my Lysol wipes and the problem was solved.

After we unpacked, up for a soda and a burger from Guys. Yummmy! These are some of the best burgers I have had in ages, and the sautéed mushrooms....heaven. During our seven days, we would discover that the food on Carnival is head and shoulders better than most of the food on DCL. Sadly, that is the only area in which they are even close to DCL. After lunch, we explored the ship. The teen club was empty, not even a crew member. Off to the video prize arcade, soon to be my son's favorite hangout on the ship. He checked out all the gamesand then, after I tore my son out, we headed back to the cabin, where I discovered that all of our bags were delivered, and that I had forgotten shampoo and conditioner. In my defense, DCL supplies spa level amenities, so I think it was some sort of mental block on my part. I decorated our door, and then we changed into our dress clothes for our dinner at David's. This was my son's birthday dinner, and I was so excited about it! This; however; was the beginning of the downfall of our Carnival experience. The waitress, whose name I have now blocked, seemed distracted, and more interested in the young men around us. Despite noting his birthday on the reservation, and mentioning it several times, we received nothing. Not a cupcake, no 'Happy Birthday ' song, nothing. Ok. No big deal. The food was AMAZING, and my son was thrilled with his steak. When the meal was over, I handed our waitress my Sign and Sail card, and off she went. For well over half an hour. My son wandered to the men's restroom, while I waited. And waited,And waited. She finally returned to tell me that she had lost my Sign and Sail card, but that she had spoken to her manager, who had called Guest Services who had voided the card and already had my new one ready. OK. Off to Guest Services to pick up my new card. And yeah, no one at GS had any clue what I was talking about. So I waited about 20 MORE minutes while they did what I was told had already been done. By this point, I was so furious that as soon as I had my new card I walked away. I was sure I would get a call from someone, with an apology, or something. A spa coupon, a box of candy, something. Yeah, nope. Nothing. After repeatedly calling GSand speaking to the manager at David's, who informed me she found out about the incident AFTER I left the restaurant, I was given a credit for one of the charges at David's. I was also told that Carnival doesn't 'compensate' for mistakes. Umm, pumpkin, this wasn't some spilled milk, this was your employee losing what amounts to my credit card, waiting 40 minutes to tell me, and then lying to me about how she handled it. Anyway, this new card/folio haunted me all week. Nearly every time I used my card, the crew member chose the old folio number, and would tell me loudly that there was a problem with my card. By the end of the cruise, I resorted to using my actual credit card.

As if this was not enough, our wait staff in the dining room seemed just as distracted. Our waiter served my son the wrong soup, and while this would normally be just annoying, the soup he served my son was peach soup, and my son is allergic to peaches. So that evening ended up with my son heavily sedated on Benadryl andme getting no sleep while I hovered over him with an  EpiPen. Once I was sure he was OK, I went to GS to reduce the gratuity for our waitstaff. (Sorry, when you almost kill my child with your careless actions, I am not tipping you.) We ate the remaining meals at the table of the family we met while boarding, who were seated alone at an 8 top, as we were. (And yes, I gave that wait staff a tip in cash). That is the all the ugly..well almost, but since the rest was on debark day, I will save that.

The entertainment on the ship is amazing...the comedy shows, the trivia contests(I won the 80's music and movie music games, and have the ships on sticks to prove it) were lots of fun. Not fond of the casino, because of the cigarette smoke, but no big deal.

Nassau, and Atlantis, were the real reason for this trip, and that resort, and the mega watt smile on my son's face the entire day, are the only reason I gave the cruise two stars. OK, I also got a day in WDW, so I did get my Disney fix. We also met a ton of new friends, and my son and I spent a lot of quality time together. As our last day approached, I was sad to be leaving and ready to just let Carnival off the hook. And then I got my final bill. That showed I was being billed $210 despite only $250 of my $300 in Cruise Cash being applied. Mind you, this was at 8 AM and we had to vacate our room at 9. I called GS, and the rep said she would call me right back. Yeah, 30 minutes later, no call back. So I leave my son, head to GS and that is when it got REALLY, REALLY ugly. I will, spare the details, but the lowlight was the GS rep telling me "This is your fault because you lost your Sign and Sail card." That is when I flipped. Seriously. I did end up with a credit on my card for the unused Cruise Cash. My son and I were also OFF the ship by 9:25 AM. (Self assist). Oh, and did I mention that our balcony got cleaned? Yeah, on Friday afternoon.

Gay couple - would not travel with Carnival Cruises again by paulf721

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

My husband and I went on this cruise for our honeymoon. Neither of us have ever been on a cruise before, nor to the Bahamas, and everyone I spoke with said that Carnival was a good cruise line for our first cruise. Of course, everyone who said that to us was heterosexual, but I would assume that cruises would be a fun experience for everyone. The first night of the cruise at the "Welcome Show," the Director asked for a couple from the audience to participate in a game show. My husband and I raised our hands, and the staff member choosing couples from the audience gave us a strange look and kept walking. We had another experience at the "Love and Marriage Show" where, again, they were looking for newlyweds to participate. As we were getting on stage, the cruise director asked the couples to get in two lines "ladies in the front line, guys in the back line." We got in line with everyone else, and were told we had to make out passionately to choose the couple who would compete in the game show. The show was supposed to be 18+, but there were dozens of kids in the audience, and we did not want angry parents yelling at us, so we walked off stage. No acknowledgement from the host. The "Identity Crisis" gameshow became extremely transphobic when Caitlyn Jenner was given as the last name to be guessed by the contestants, and lots of questions about gender and other questions were answered rudely by the audience and echoed by the Cruise Director when he referred to Caitlyn with male pronouns. We were told by our travel agent that because we were on a honeymoon we would receive a special gift delivered to our stateroom, which never came (perhaps because we were registered in the system as two men and it over-rode the coding as a Honeymoon cruise?). There were incredible hostesses in the dining room, waitstaff, our steward Jun, Laurie from the piano bar, and the couple who sang every night on board, who were extremely friendly, personable, knew us by name, and most of them either referred to us as a couple. There are some great staff on the ship, but these other issues that occurred almost every day soiled the experience for us. I would not travel with Carnival again, and they really need a diversity expert to help them figure things out and advise staff on making activities and the cruise experience more inclusive before they can dream of folks like me recommending our fellow partnered and married friends to travel with Carnival.

I would recommend Carnival.  The best part was the ship and the crew did their job making you feel welcomed and safe.  Happy  The cabin size was very comfortable, the balcony was huge and enough chairs. The variety of foods offered was great.

Great family cruise! by Cruiser98160717

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We had a great time on our cruise!  The ship was beautiful and very clean.  The staff was very friendly and helpful.  The schedule of activities was impressive.  From bingo to beer pong there's something to do all day long, which was good because you're on the boat more than you're in port on this cruise.

The food was good, although the buffet could use more variety and the layout of the stations was difficult to navigate. Dinner in the dining room was great food and fun, and the seaday brunches were fantastic!

Our sons also loved the movies on the big screen by the pool.

This was the worst cruise ive been on and the worst booking experience by brandimar1984

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The pride was dirty, food selection was very little, staff wasn't helpful. This is my 6 cruise and probably my final cruise. Also when booking I was mislead by rep and booking agent. I was told that I would receive a $50 giftcard for . The agent knew I wasn't  a member but told me I could give it to someone who was a member or get a guest pass to use my gift card. I called this morning to collect my gift card and I was told that I can't have it because I'm not a member. They had no problem lying to me to get my money from my booking. I got off the ship 4 days early and was charges $300 to get off while still in the United States

held up all my cash right before thanksgiving by mbr82769

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Please let your customers know to not use a debit card master card or visa for their sail and sign account.  Carnival not only held up duplicate charges throughout the week that I was sailing but then also took the full invoice amount and left all the same items that were on that invoice separately holding in the account since the time period so basically holding double the amount of money in my bank account so I could not access my available balance.   This is not just a couple of dollars..... this is $1,113 in transactions each separately billed throughout the week sitting on hold when they already took their $1113.00 sail and sign balance and its been long posted and been taken out of funds day after we arrived in port...COULD YOU PLEASE RELEASE MY MONEY SINCE MY ACCOUNT IS NOW NEGATIVE AND I NEED MY MONEY FOR THANKSGIVING DINNER.  SOOOOOOOO PISSED. LACK OF COMMUNICATION FROM SUCH A BIG SUCCESSFUL COMPANY. LOST  A CUSTOMER. GOOGLED NOW AND SEEN THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE 2005 TO DIFFERENT FOLKS.....  WHY NOT INFORM THE CUSTOMER OF THIS POTENTIAL HAVAC ON THEIR FINANCES IF THEY CHOOSE THIS PAYMENT METHOD.
