Review summary

This was our first 2-week cruise and we loved it. I thought I would be glad to get off the ship after 2 days of rough weather (I get nauseous when I can't see the horizon), but Monday morning the bay was calm and I was sad to leave (again).

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Much better than last time. Showed up at our assigned time and went right on without any lines.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We really enjoy the Normandy Dining and at our assigned table, we made some great friends.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
We were very disappointed that the library and chapel have been replaced by a game room. All other activities were great.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The shows were great, the comedians were okay.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
I do not know how the workers can be so happy all the time.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
It's getting old, but it is a beautiful ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
Getting on in Baltimore our cabin was cold and would not heat up. We called the front desk, they came out and adjusted something (rebooted our electricity) and it seemed better, but we were heading south and it wasn't as cold outside. On our return to Baltimore, the room got cold again.

Ship tip

Floor 5 fore is directly above the Taj Mahal and you can hear them rehearsing in the afternoon.

Ports of call

Frederiksted, St. Croix, U.S.V.I.

5 out of 5
Excellent scuba diving, nice little town

Basseterre, St. Kitts

5 out of 5
Excellent scuba diving

Fort-De-France, Martinique

5 out of 5
Great boat ride to Bat Cave and snorkeling, but the glass boat turtle viewing was not great (we prefer to be underwater with them). Larger town and we had a very nice walk after lunch.

Bridgetown, Barbados

2 out of 5
To be fair, we were there on a Sunday and nothing but churches were open. Walked about 5K to the George Washington House/Garrison, a UNESCO World Heritage site, but the house was closed and the fort is active and visitors were not allowed. Generally disappointed, but the walk was so bad (had to walk in busy, narrow streets often). I would use a tour next time.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

4 out of 5
America's Cup Regatta was great, but the walk into town afterward is a bit dicey (again narrow roads with plenty of traffic). The boardwalk/beach was nice though.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

4 out of 5
Took a taxi to the Escambron Marine Park/Beach for snorkeling. The waves were rough and the visibility was down, but the underwater park is great and we found (and chased) a turtle. Nice (long) walk back to the ship, with a great walking path next to a separate bike path.

Grand Turk Island

5 out of 5
We love scuba diving at Grand Turk. The beach is right there so we grab a quick lunch and then swim until departure time.

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
Our ship was delayed by over 24 hours. It took several hours to get the ship emptied, then traffic was terrible because of the arriving passengers had to be diverted to a different parking lot.
