Review summary

The cruise was really fantastic and lovely overall. We loved the staff, some of the entertainment, the destinations, etc. Main thing that was lacking was the Kid's Club and kid's activities.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Super quick and easy embarkation at SF!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Overall, the dining experience was wonderful with lots of options at the buffets and restaurants. We LOVED our restaurant dining staff, including Jigson, Jimmy, and Ching. They took amazing care of us and got to know us so well throughout the cruise, and they were always extra considerate with our young kids.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The pools were somewhat small and there was only one small indoor pool for this cold cruise. It was by the outside pool where smoking was allowed, and smoke often came inside this area which was awful. The fitness center was great, the mini golf was fun.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Some entertainment was phenomenal (especially Eden Parker, the piano bar musician, who we listened to daily). Some of the comedians were great, others were a bit less so. The main show cast was lovely but the shows were a bit too cheesy/over done.

Children's Programs

1 out of 5
The main thing we were very disappointed by was the Kids Club unfortunately (not great activities, care seemed lacking, no way of contacting parents, didn't feed them lunch so we'd have to pick them up, etc.). Also, kids entertainment was often scheduled during our dinner time (we had the early 5:30 dinner option because of our young kids), so we had to miss many of the kids' show options, movies, etc. Our kids (ages 4 and 7) were pretty bored on the ship and didn't want to attend Kids Club.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Services staff was truly phenomenal, especially Jigson, Jimmy, and Ching at dinner and Merwin (room steward). They were fabulous and caring people. The cruise director, LiA, was outstanding!!!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Overall, it was all great. The main problem here were that the smoking areas let the smoke seep into many other areas that were often family-friendly areas. Again, the kids' pool was right next to the outdoor smoking area, which was awful. Another problematic ship layout part was that to get from the dining room (dinner) to the theater (shows after dinner), you had to walk through the smoke-filled casino -- this seemed like a very poor design!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was really great overall. Our TV was broken but someone came out and fixed it quickly. I wish there were more hangers in the closets!

Ship tip

Bring extra hangers for your clothes and have a wonderful time!
