When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. We tried very hard to have a positive attitude as we did spend probably 10k with cruise, air, excursions, etc. but we did not come home with that ah ha moment like we have had in the past. It was an average trip, still better than being at home for Spring Break in the colder weather and being on the ocean is my "happy spot" but just very disappointed overall at the experience.

There were a couple Port of Miami workers directing customers on to ship that were simply rude.

I work hard as does my husband to be able to afford a balcony room for the 4 of us. Our cabin was above deck 5 where everyone walked around the ship. We look forward to the balcony and privacy for those peaceful moments to get away from the crowds. We did NOT have that at all--and it was above the smoking area-- nasty. Also a night club and lounge area was below us, we heard the thumps of the music until 2 or 3 AM; even on the night before we disembarked--our dream vacation was not so much of a dream. I think a "warning" or pop up should have to be acknowledged before booking this room--we tried to make the best of it; but, it was hard.
Ship tip
Buyer beware....do research before you book your cabin as Carnival doesn't care.
Megan's bay beach break--beautiful-- not as relaxing as had to get own chairs, etc.
I didn't feel like I was a tourist or guest; not as welcoming as some of the excursions.
Best port to sail into. We had a catamaran booked but it got cancelled due to weather so I seriously cried-- it just ended the trip with such disappointment. I know no one could help that as safety comes first but we had to jump and figure out another excursion as Carnival let us sit in the room for one hour before they told us it was cancelled and most of the good excursions had already left. We did a beach break-- the beach was ok--old, rocky--not the resort type of beach we usually go to but the food buffet was one of the best I've ever had.
Good; only had one gangway open so very crowded but we got to disembark early as we had an excursion booked. I felt sorry for the rest of the people--it was going to be a long process since one gangway was not open.
I did my own booking for our upcoming cruise. I spent a lot of time researching the ships and room locations before booking. If it turns out not being what we wanted then it will be my own fault. Sorry your vacation wasn't what you hoped it would be.
Too bad you didn't research ahead of time. Not fair to say Carnival doesn't care. U do have some control over where u stay and to know where smoking areas are yourself.
Don't generalize that Carnival doesn't care. I have a great pvp through carnival. She worked hard placing us away from those things. She even explained why she wouldn't recommend certain cabins. You are right about 1 thing-- do your research.
