Review summary

Over all it was a ok cruise and definitely not worth the jr suite upgrade.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Having up graded to a jr suite embarkation was awesome not having to wait in lines. Once on board there was little direction of what we were supposed to do and where we needed to be to get our cabin

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food was mediocre to fair at best. The dining room gives the initial appearance of a 5 star venue but food quality was not great.

Service and Staff

Was not impressed with cabin steward. After hearing loud banging all night on Saturday, in the morning I figured out that it was the glass shower door. It was broken and every time the ship rocked, the glass would sway out and then slam into the tub . It would slam back and forth loud enough it kept us awake and then became worried about it breaking. I informed IMade our attendant who told me to stuff a towel between the glass and the tub so it wouldn't bang? It stayed this way the entire cruise.

Cabin / Stateroom

Very little privacy in this cabin due to its location. The window while nice allowed for anybody outside to see in including looking through the door to the balcony. The window curtains had to be closed which made the cabin dark and feel small.

Ship tip

There are very few amenities associated with being a "suite guest" as the sticker on our Sail and sign cards denoted. Due to time we booked all early seating dinners were filled and automatically we got late seating. We read online that a suite guest could change those arrangements. We tried and were successful once but were told they could not do it again. The only benefit we realized by being a suite guest was no waiting on embarkation day but we did have to wait like everybody else to get to cabins and account cards. Also the ship was so full EVERYTHING we did or tried to do had a long wait. Unless you have a need for the extra space of a jr suite it is not worth the upgrade.

Not sure what you mean by the window and people seeing in. This is a balcony right? Where were the people that could see into a window? And where was this window in relation to the balcony?

I noted Carnival food is not that great, for the prices they are charging you would think they hire better chefs. some items are good. RCCL , Princess, and NCL have very good food, on their newer ships have not sailed on their older ones.NCL had a lot of complaints, they listen, did an amazing job with the food. I would have stopped by guest services and called CS when I returned home, try to receive some compensatation for the shower/ put the towel fix situation. Not a appropriate answer from an employee.I never book suites. Hardly ever in the room , only to shower & sleep.

My aunt and uncle also had a jr suite on the Magic and sounds like they had the same problem with the location of the room. Theres was right at the front of the ship and when people would go out on the deck they would constantly look over into their balcony . And to listen to the door leading out to the deck opening and closing was a pain.
