Average cruise by Geoff

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I had my first cruise with Costa Altanica, a 3.5 star ship. Carnival legend is rated 4.5 star. I have high expectation for this 1 extra star but disappointed. The decor and layout are eerily similar to Costa. Disco bass is so far-reaching. Even on Deck 4, i could still hear it and bothered. The food in buffet has varieties but the formal dining choices are limited. The dancing/singing formal show was mediocre. The last night's show was anti-climax. Comedy show really shined. I laughed out loud quite often. Tea time was disappointing. Costa has organic tea in more than 20 varieties. They offered regular tea bags. The distance between ship and some shores is too far, e.g., Belize. It's waste of time. The wireless is at snail speed and your charge is pretty high for that. You still use tube TV rather than LCD in stateroom? For the money I paid, I was expecting some up-scaled treats and got very few of them.

Trip of a lifetime - first cruise by WillB

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had never been on a cruise before so didn't really know what to expect. The food was awesome, all kinds of fun stuff to do on the ship (but I doubt if anyone ever really wins anything in the casino without spending 2-3 times what the prize is worth), and the ports were a lot of fun. Book shore excursions through or local tour operators once you arrive (check tripadvisor for recommendations) because Carnival's excursions are 2-5 times the price. Ship was very clean, staff was very friendly and helpful, and the room stewards do a great job keeping your room clean - they deserve the gratuities that are added to your account. Oh, and they leave you a very cool towel animal every night :-) Would have liked it more if the ship didn't leave Roatan so early - they could have stayed another hour or two without delaying the return time to Tampa. My only gripe was the debarkation process in Belize - we got up early and went to the tender meeting place thinking we would be on one of the first tender boats, only to have to wait almost two hours while Carnival debarked people who had booked shore excursions through them first. We arrived an hour and a half before many of the people who were allowed to debark before us - could have used the extra sleep... Otherwise it was a good experience. I even put a deposit on our next cruise since they have a deal on the last day where you get an onboard credit up to $200 on your next cruise depending on duration. It's a $100 deposit, is good for up to 2-3 years, and can be refunded at any time if you decide not to use it.

An Outstanding Cruise! by TracyC3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

It was a wonderous experience. The service was excellent and loved the atmosphere and activities planned for a daily basis. The port of calls were great. Only negative was the rockiness of the waves...being my first cruise ever I was not prepared for this so was seasick the first day but after that it was GREAT! Love it All!!!!

Average; not the best but not the worst. by DebbieV1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall service not as good as we had to clear our own tables and wipe them. Cleanliness of room not good. Food was good. Debarkation process needs to be improved as there were miscommunications during that process.

Wonderful Honeymoon by PaulS27

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We recently sailed on the Ledgend. We were on our honeymoon and had the most wonderful time. I would recomend the cruise to anyone. There were so many things to do on the ship. If you are bored while on a cruise you havent left your room. There is so many options as far as food. You can always find something different to eat.

Great Anniversary Celebration by MeganC

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My overall impression of the Carnival Legend was very positive. Every time I passed a crew member, they were smiling and seemed to be having a great time. Megan, the assistant cruise director, and Wee Jimmy, the Cruise Director, were so upbeat and positive and that was very motivating. I loved getting back from dinner every night to see what the schedule for the next day was, and of course, to see what friendly towel animal was waiting for me on the bed. I only have a couple of complaints about the ship: First, bring your own drinks on, and put them in your carry on. One bottle of wine is allowed, and you dont want it getting taken by putting it in your checked luggage. Drinks on the ship are $6+. Second, Carnival has a tendency to sell you something every chance they get, which got annoying. Don't take anything at face value because there's probably a catch. For example, the last night on the ship you have an opportunity to get "$500 off your bar tab." We were excited because that's about how much we spent. Come to find out, it's $500 off your tab, starting at 10pm on the last night. Still worth it for a couple of drinks, but still felt like false advertising. Overall my experience on the ship was a great one. I would definitely go back, and now that I know the tricks, I'll be more prepared. For example -- bring walkie talkies so you can talk to friends/family members on the ship so you dont have to use your cell phone. See you on the next Carnival cruise!

A nice relaxing cruise by JenA3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall cruise experience was great. Unfortunately, it was not clear which excursions were handicap accessible and had to make some last minute changes. The cruise excursion desk was helpful in making changes, but there was some disappointment that we only found out because we inquired for wheelchair assist. We had 4 staterooms and 2 had temperature issues. One was like a freezer inside and the other the air went out. These rooms were side-by-side.
