The rocking ship by Happilyretiredi

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

St thomas was beautiful. Weather was great.

The crew on the Glory were very courteous and made us feel welcome

However the ship itself needs some work. Many areas not up to what our last Carnival cruise ship was.

The food was good except for the desserts and they all were very dry and bland.

Noise and vibration by cba

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The "Glory" is and older ship. It is well maintained, easy to get from one place to another-the bigger ships require much more walking. There is no "WOW" factor, which is a big draw for the newer ships. The food was very good, the stops were great, but the noise and vibration in the back of ship on the lower level was unbearable. Carnival was able to move us on the second day because we were the first to complain and the ship was nearly full. The same thing happened on part 2 of the back-to-back cruise. Again we were lucky because there was a no-show.

Food was great (especially the evening restaurant).  Shows were great as well, particularly the dance shows.  Excellent service through Carnival.

gym had great equipment.  Spa was expensive.  Comedians were pretty good - enjoyed the family shows.

Disappointing by snowbabylakitcyahooca

Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Some of the cruise was great. We have cruised many times. Weather well not so great but the break was good. Nobody controls weather. 2 ports we could not stop in due to weather. The frustrating part was I purchased the liquor package prior to the cruise. During the cruise they said my credit card went off line. It took 2 days to get back however they would not let my utilize the liquor package during that time. When guest services was asked the one guy said well that is the rule. 2 days later we asked another lady and she said that should not be happening as the package was paid in full prior to departure. She would refund us the days we did not use any liquor which happened to be the 2 hottest days. On the last night of our cruise we got our final bill which was ok because we did purchase various items for the family. When my credit card statement came in they charged a different amount to my card which was more than I owed. $60 is not much but the principle of it all. We have not been refunded any. We did not want the whole amount back but felt like we should be entitled the days we did not drink. On that note they would not charge it to our cabin either. So as yes water is healthier it is not quite as fun!! Overall very disappointed in the run around of getting answers then them not following through. We have cruised other lines before and do not feel like we will do carnival again. Felt like they got out money and that was it. Just very disappointed.

get proper ports by connollyjames2

Travelled a long way to get told that we could not port at the two places we really wanted to see ,don't think the port were strong enough to take such a big ship ,the one at Grand Turk was just a jetty...never again.

Disappointed with the Glory by emilymehedin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We have been on multiple Carnival cruises before and this one was so different.  We spent 5 of the 7 days at sea (missing two ports of call).  The first port was cancelled before we even boarded the ship.  The second one we missed we were very late and pulled up to the destination and sat and then had the Captain, say sorry we can't go now.  The boat needs refurbishing (which it's going into dry dock) in February 2017.  Just not the same overall vibe as the Breeze on this ship.

Could have been better by carleysauntmsncom

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I thought that the ship was great, and the wait staff was fabulous.  Super friendly and went out of their way to make everything clean and great.  I felt that there could have been more to do during the day on the ship, especially for non drinkers and non gamblers.  The pools were always super crowded if the sun was out, and was really hard to find chairs together.  The weather was really bad on our cruise and they cancelled two of the 4 ports we were scheduled for, but that wasnt the fault of the ship.  We would love to try a different cruise during a time with better weather, because so much of it would have been better if the weather was better.

The weather was bad which was uncontrollable and we missed 2 port stops was stuck on the boat, 4 days out of  7.  I feel like carnival could have given more compensation for the inconvenience. 4 days is a long time on a boat in rough waters ,don't get me wrong they tried to have more activities to keep people entertained, but with that many people on board, it was to crowded to enjoy much. Can't bring bottled water with u, but they allow bottles of juice, didn't understand that one until i got on board and saw they charge for water. And even though you're paying 12.95 per day per person gratuity, everything you buy on board is charged a gratuity also, and then they expect more tips. Ran into some rude staff members as well as nice ones.

Our Family Vacation by Stubbas

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The staff we encountered during our cruise was just wonderful. We missed 2 ports due to weather. I was not happy that cruise staff sold us an excursion just an hour before telling us that we could not dock in Turks and Caicos when on goggle it was reported that the port had been closed for past 3 days. We were refunded but it made our children upset. I also did not like the salt water pools on boat, it was stated pools were salt water. The salt water pool upset my childrens eyes so they could not swim. Due to port closings we were stuck on boat for 5 of the 7 days and my son were rather bored. The kids club was separated into 2-11 year old, 12-14. My son who is 11 went and felt so out of place. He said all the children were much younger. That is too much of an age span. I would like to travel with Carnival again but my youngest didn't have fun at all.

Great ports to visit by thomaskogut

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We swam with stingrays in Grand Cayman, zip lined in Roatan, cave tubed in Belize & swam with dolphins in Cozumel. All were fun & exciting, which made a memorable trip. Nice cabin, our fold out bed was broken upon arrival but was repaired. All the little extras cost you, so be prepared. A great time.

Carnival Glory, January 2017 by chefmargo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Lots of things to do on board. With a family of 5 it was nice to have options. Dining in the Golden Restaurant was probably one of the most fun just because it got my whole family to sit down together and we could discuss the days activities. We tried so many different foods and with a couple of picky eaters, this was a great chance for them to try something and not feel like we wasted our money if they didn't like it.

The ports were a nice variety. Grand Cayman was a flat island - Roatan had both rustic and tourist-y areas with varied topography. Belize is a place I would recommend booking some sort of excursion - the city is a little rough. Cozumel is Mexico and that is always a fun place!

The shows in the evening were great.

If you are early to bed, make sure you get a room far enough away from the lobby. We heard the band playing and I have a difficult time sleeping anyway so that was a little bit of a challenge for me.

I was a little disappointed that there wasn't any part of the ship that offered country music. They offered just about everything else - that would be a suggestion.

Remember to account for the tips and for the extra charge if you want unlimited beverages.

Christmas was lost on ship by karkhema

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

While we had a very good time, Christmas was lost in the cruise. Yes there was a Christmas tree lighting (Hanukkah Menorah Lighting also), Christmas songs, but there was just too much going on that the 16 of us just missed being at home.

Long lines for food on the Lido deck was a pain, as well as always out of silverware. Felt like a herd of beasts, no one seems to walk to the right on the cruise. So much so that I would not go on Lido deck during busy times.

First night dinner we found out our party of 16 was seated all over the place. The Maitre D was helpful but not friendly at all. He did make arrangements for us all to sit together at a different restaurant at an earlier time. Again helpful but not friendly!

Dinner in the restaurant was awesome. Food was very good to excellent with good choices. Our waiter Armon aka "Tiger" was genuinely friendly, funny, caring, and always there to make sure we where very happy! Tiger made us look forward to dinner every evening. AWESOME

Room service for breakfast is minimal, starches, grains, cereal, fruit, and drinks. No protein, VERY Disappointing!

Our cabin steward was Arvin and he was great. Another genuinely friendly, smiling member of staff doing his best to make sure we were happy with our cabin. Always checking when would be a good time to clean, update, etc to not interfere with our time. Just GREAT!

We attended numerous shows and productions. They were all fun to attend, entertaining, and funny. Everyone enjoyed them. LOVED 'EM

Our room was on deck 1 Riviera, room was relatively spacious, bed was comfortable and ocean view window. A/C worked well, but there is not a temp setting, just a dial for cooler or warmer. Water temp in shower was too hot at first but Arvin had it fixed while we were at dinner the first evening.

Noise was a big issue for our room! Every night you could hear and feel mechanical things going on the deck below, made it hard to get to sleep.

The seas were less than accommodating on our cruise, no fault of Carnival but it was at times very difficult to walk anywhere. Something you just have to put up with...

Overall our cruise was good, not great, and I don't plan on a Christmas cruise again.

We enjoyed on time together and had plenty of good times, so I will plan a cruise again in the near future.

Fun by TheJennyC

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

It was a great family vacation (entire local family went) but it was also a honeymoon for myself and my DH. All stops were awesome. Only issues we had - gratuity comes out daily now, not at end of cruise like it used to, and when we didn't come out for a day (DH and I were spending quality time together and "resting") housekeeping decided to contact security to "check on us". When the security officer realized she kept pushing the door so she could come in the room and then when I explained to her that we are on our honeymoon and resting after a long day of spending time together she didn't want to hear any of it and then shoved past me to see my husband to make sure that he was alive and well. She did not apologize once and she was nasty the entire time and that kind of put a damper on our honeymoon Cruise. When it was brought up to the guest services desk the only thing they did was set up the Security Supervisor and all he did was say sorry and walk away. We personally believe that more should have been done especially since the security officers shoved me to get into the room but Carnival Guest Services didn't seem to care about any of that. So we are very much so considering not using Carnival for our yearly cruises anymore. Besides horrible guest services and the security officer everything else went well. If you go on the Glory and are a Dine at your own time person, make sure you are seated in Tigers section (Armon) he was PHENOMENAL!!!!

Great First Cruise by robertpowell198

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was my first ever cruise and my wife and I had a great time.  The only thing that could improve was the desert and there should be a few more things for adults to do during sea days.  Overall I would rate this a 4 out of 5 and will definitely use Carnival again.

Amazing Family Cruise by lotto4u22

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Our Cruise was excellent and anjoyable. It was a first cruise for My husband and my son and they loved it. Our only concern is that carnival should include WIFI AND GRATUITY WITH THE PRICE and they should have a PET FRIENDLY CRUISE so people can take their lives as well.  Thank you to our main person Eric, entertainment director of our cruise, amazing, energetic, super, he's in the right career 👏.  What an amazing team of housekeeping, love when we wake up in the morning and they so happy and pleasant. Food was delicious and a plus because we didn't get sick from the food, Thank you to the chef for making our vacation hearthy.  Our personal chef Roney from pizza pirate great personality and always with a smile, we can't wait to eat more Pizza from him 👏😋. Another team from the restaurant Mr.  worachart AND his crew amazing service and love their dance 💃🏻. We are so happy and ready for our next cruise and become Cruise experts and masters. Thank you to carnival and to everyone who was part of our Family Vacation. Big Smile

A Christmas Family Cruise Wunderba!! by kristam48

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Where to begin our family (15 of us in total) cruised on Carnival Glory for a wonderful 7-Day Caribbean Adventure!! This itinerary had 4 ports in 3 different countries; Dominican USVI Caicos &Turks and San Juan. We did excursions on almost every port. Some of them were booked through the cruise line other ones we booked on our  own (either to save money or to have a different flavor and experience than the cruises Excursions ) I think my favorite ports were Amber Cove Dominican Republic in Puerto Plata and then Grand Turk of the islands.

There are so many things to do on board the ship especially on full sailing days. Parties Comedy Casinos theaters or dancing. Our family loved going to the comedy clubs. we had children in our group so we would go to the earlier family-friendly and when the kids went to bed and were with one of the sitters the rest of us would go to one of the adult only shows and really enjoyed it.  in the theaters they have other shows like Las Vegas themed nightclub shows. They also have family friendly shows and game shows. The kids have Club Carnival which includes activities with day care in different hours of the day and after care for later Club. some of this is free and some of it includes an additional fee. The kids go into appropriate age groups.

Back to the excursions there were so many choices my husband and I love to snorkel so we did a couple of the excursions that included driving to a beach or hiking through the river going to the 27 Falls of Damajagua in Amber Cove (that was the best Excursion ever )! We booked on our own thru Iguana Mamma. When we were in Grand Turk that's where my husband and I rented a 4-wheel drive ATV and explored the whole Island. The island itself is only about 3 miles long so we spent several hours riding all around and then went to a secluded beach for a real piece of paradise.

While we were in San Juan I really enjoyed seeing the artist out on the the port walkway and seeing some the local culture. **Helpful hint there's a CVS as soon as you get off the boats on the main street along the port drive. There we also went to The Big Fort ** a good thing to note is the Parks and Recreation run a Free Shuttle running from the port to both of the forts and stopping at the Cathedral and returning you to the cruise port.

While in Saint Thomas many members of the family booked a tour with Godfrey tours which was off on our own again. This tour was really great. The director driver who was the owner knows all about the island as a local.  Our ship came  in late. Many of the cruises excursions had to be cancelled. Godfrey guy knew we were coming late. He specifically waited for us at port. We got our full tour and I think even a little bit longer than had been planned. He worked late for us and brought us right back to the cruise port. He stopped at several places on the way back so we could have time to shop. He also took us to two different beaches. Some of our group stayed at the beach. The rest of the group did other shopping and returned to the port. He was very flexible and quite organized with dropping everybody off and to do two different parts of a tour with our large group. The beach crew were picked up later and returned to port with plenty of time to spare!

On the ship we had a wonderful cabin Steward. We were on the Riviera deck (deck 1)  Arwin was our room Steward. He was just fantastic and genuine. Whenever we came back from an Excursion our ice bucket would be full  and of course our beds were made with some kind of towel creature waiting for us. In the main dining room or maitre d Armand aka "Tiger" did a fantastic job with our group of 15. We were spread out over two tables. Tiger and his team were just constantly checking on us and getting our food out at nearly the same time which I think was quite a good feat. Because we cruised at Christmas time we felt we should give both our cabin Steward and our Maitre d a small little gift. They were both very moved by the little gestures of the small gifts. Most of the employees on the cruise lines are away from their families during the holidays which is the busiest cruising time for all of the ships. At the end of the cruise we gave a tip to both of them for their outstanding service!!

I as the rest of the family thoroughly enjoyed this cruise and the specific itinerary. The only thing I would do different is to not cruise on such a big holiday. All of the ports are very busy. I think I like doing  Christmas in one of our family's  homes. Happy Cruising!!

Asst fresh fruit platter room service ^^

Mother Nature Was Busy - Cruise Was Great by SirCruiseUhLot

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was a great cruise, the ship has tons of accommodations and the staff was more than attentive.  The entertainment was good and the days were filled with activities, more than you can get to unless you are on a regimented schedule. As with other cruises there was more than enough food to blow your diet, the BBQ restaurant had a very short window for our itinerary, but we were still able to get in on the last at sea day. As the subject states once out of Miami,

the winds were really high, in some cases limiting access to the highest points of the ship but this was not a reflection on the Carnival or AA for that matter. On the days it rained outside activities were moved inside...in some case schedule changes were not even noticeable to us.   The ports of call were great, and the ships staff put a lot of focus on making sure you were aware of the time (ship's time) to avoid watching a sail away from the pier. Eric the cruise director was literally everywhere on the ship and interacted with the guest on a regular basis, I saw him walking around the ship almost daily.  Overall great time and a great way to spend our Christmas.

Aside from the weather causing the ship to rock a lot it was a wonderful time.  This wasn't my first cruise, but probably one of the best thus far.
