Once you get away from the port, the cruise is decent. Wasn’t our favorite but we’ve had worse. First time cruiser, every other Carnival port is so much better to cruise from. You will like the ship as long as you haven’t been on any other Carnival ship. The Glory is in serious need of a refurbishment/upgrade, looking old and not kept up. The crew needs some attitude adjustment, but get better closer to tip time. Ask for Lionel in the MDR, Joshua in Pixels, make sure your cabin steward is Serafin and ask Lucy the Comedy show MC to say “Maximum” (her Brittish accent is SO cute!).
Embarkation

Port of New Orleans is a complete sh!t show! HORRIBLE! 2 cruise ships disembarking while next cruise’s guests showing up. Uber’s won’t even accept you ride request, cause they spend an hour in traffic. Or you have to walk 4 blocks at least, with all your luggage, to get a ride share or taxi. We absolutely will never cruise from New Orleans again!

Same ole same dinners in MDR, but was prepared well.

Funny how the same 8 to 10 people sit in the hot tubs all day drinking, and no one has to get out and pee?? Pool’s always crowded, with chair hogs towels out at 6am on the dot. Love the new Deal or No Deal game. Shows are getting better. Disappointed they moved Love and Marriage show to 9:30 at night (due to adult content).

First couple days, crew was grumpy as hell! Snapping and making Snide comments. Warmed up over time and by the end, tip time, was over the top. Joshua and Jay At Pixels are ALL ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE! Lionel and Ayu Made in MDU, table 443, are AMAZING! Serafin, cabin steward extraordinaire, was over the top fantastic!

If this was your first cruise, the Glory would impress you, but not bring you back again. If you’ve been on any other Carnival ship, it would be outdated and disappointing. Needs an overhaul, badly.
First thing you have to do is go to Rip Ty’d brewery!!! FABULOUS craft beers, the owner gives the tours and greets guests at the door. Second thing you have to do is swim with the pigs. I know, sounds weird, my wife and I(in our 50’s) and our kids (20’s) LOVED it!!! After that, Pearl island was great, good food and STRONG drinks. Back in Nassau, locals can not wait for the passengers to leave. Port Authority officials are indiscriminately A-Holes, asking for passports and IDs just to throw their power around. Didn’t happen to us but we watched it a few times, especially the drunker passengers.
Beautiful port, lots to do and see. Love the vibe. Sorta get the feeling from brief interactions with locals that “cruise people” are not their favorite kind of tourists. We did the Conch Train, and LOVED IT! Gabriel was our conductor for the first trip around, and was the BEST!!! If your train isn’t being steered by Gabriel, get off and find his. You are welcome!!
Horrible port, multiple ships disembarking and embarking at same time. Port workers are so rude, unenthusiastic, unengaged incompetent! You might think there’s a competition to see who can be the rudest!
Industrial port, nothing to see beyond the cruise passenger shopping area. You have to get out to the resort area, and it is beautiful. We did a day pass at Lighthouse Pointe Grand Lucayan. Absolutely recommend this resort! They say they only sell 25 passes a day, that’s an absolute lie. But still worth it.
I have to agree with you on the Uber. This first one cancelled our request. We waited over an hour for the second one to arrive and then he literally complained the whole trip about how he wasn't going to make any money on our trip. My sister is an Uber driver in KC. She just sat there and bit her tongue.
Mardi Gras season is Not the time to cruise out of New Orleans. The Mardi Gras Krewes store the floats in the area close to the Port and with the Parades the increased traffic is a logistics nightmare.
Thanks for the review. Must have been just a bad day for the port of New Orleans. Have sailed out of the port of New Orleans several times and have never had an issue. Glad you enjoyed your cruise.
