Review summary

I feel Carnival Glory is on its last legs. Though the staff and food were outstanding, the ship was outdated. I have taken 8 different cruises out of 8 different ports and none were worse than New Orleans. I find Carnival to blame as they have people disembarking at the same time embarking on the next cruise all happening at once. They shouldn't have people coming to embark on the outgoing ship until at least 1pm. This would alleviate the traffic congestion. Yes Carnival would lose that revenue from the bars from cruisers waiting for their rooms, but it would immediately improve the atmosphere of the boarding process.

Embarkation

1 out of 5
Horrible! New Orleans Terminal is a complete joke! Took 1 1/2 hours to get to terminal from French Quarter Hotel.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food was excellent.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Older ship. Spa nice. Lot of wasted space and small lounges closed.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Comedians ok, stage shows below par.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff did wonderful job.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Clean but slightly worn down. Pool lavatories were disgusting.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Room fine, but old style shower curtain was a disappointment.

Ship tip

Unless you want to spend most of your cruise waiting in line for food, plan on eating either earlier or later than the normal times to eat.

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

4 out of 5
Mardi Gras was fun, but terminal problems keep it from 5 stars.

Key West, Florida

5 out of 5
Always fun in Key West. Took Conch Train which was relaxing and educational. Normally I don't do the tourist stuff, but this was unique and affordable.

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island Did not visit port

Cool and cloudy day. Did not get off ship.

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
Took shuttle boat to Paradise Island. Ok.

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
Once again, wait for Uber more than 1 hour due to how terminal is set up.

I believe I read that the Glory will be dry docked in 2024 for a facelift. I will be on her in June hope to have a great time.

Appreciate your details. I assume you meant having all the people in the area at the same time. Usually there’s about an hour after the last passenger leaves the ship on one sailing before the first arrives on board for the next one (notice I said usually). Sorry you were disappointed.

We sailed out of New Orleans last July and it was quick and easy.

Thanks for sharing. We arrive at the port early but have never been allowed to embark as others are disembarking.

41 cruises and we’ve never had people disembarking/embarking at the same time. Strange. Hope you enjoyed your cruise despite the negatives.

I recently read that the Glory is planned to go into dry dock in the spring of 2024 to get its updates. I hope so, I got married on the Glory and can’t wait to cruise with her again on an anniversary. 🥰
