Review summary

We are exploring an Alaska cruise with our 18 year old grand daughter, who has not cruised before. We most definitely will be looking at itineraries on Carnival. Carnival certainly lives up to it's slogan of "Funtastic" cruising. Every one of our five Carnival Cruises has been the funnest of all of our cruise experiences. We will be back and we will bring family with us.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Outstanding! We are seasoned cruisers and I don't recall EVER having a faster embarkation experience. It was literally flawless.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Very good! I was impressed that during our dining experiences we received Lobster (Twice), Filet Mignon, Escargot among several other great dishes.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We relaxed. But, it is VERY noteworthy that we sailed to celebrate a significant birthday and our 52nd Wedding Anniversary. We had an awesome time and sincerely appreciate the celebrations our wait staff provided to us. It was fun and most appreciated. There is a lengthy back story here if anyone is interested. In 2017, my wife and I sailed on a Princess cruise to celebrate our 50th Anniversary. As we are Platinum members on Princess we had our travel agent request a birthday and anniversary celebration package. They did NOTHING whatsoever to acknowledge us. We came away very disappointed because I spent a good deal of money to purchase a suite for my wife and did what ever I could think of to honor our marriage. So, after a good deal of reflection we decided to try again on Carnival Glory. It was an overall awesome experience. We had a great wait staff who were fun for us at every turn. Their acknowledgement of each patron was always with care and expediency. Our staff were Primrose, Daisy and I am sorry I can not recall our head waiters name but he was great too. We sat at the early dining in the Platinum dining room at table 621. Thank You Carnival! Sincerely, Robert and Pam Baldwin

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We watched several shows at various venues. They were all very professional and good entertainment. We would also like to acknowledge "Cookie", the Ship's Social Director. He always made every activity very fun and entertaining. We could rely on his guidance and information as he directed us or provided social leadership. He really did help make the trip a 5 star event.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Our room stewards were very good. Adi and his female assistant let us have our privacy but kept our room in good condition. If we asked for something they got it for us. I rated this a 4 because we shouldn't have to ask for ice or water refills. We have sailed 18 cruises and there were many times these services were automatically provided. So, we don't know if this was the steward's issue OR is this another aspect where cruise companies are cutting back on simple services.

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
On the inside the Glory looked polished and clean However, on the outside it looks like a rust bucket. This again may be an issue where cruise companies are cutting back on services but it looks embarrassing. We sailed on the Glory just a few years ago and we do not recall such obvious rust issues around the perimeter of the ship. The total ship's exterior needs a good polishing and painting.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
It was good for a Balcony Cabin.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Excellent, Very Efficient. Initially we were somewhat concerned about the disembarkation going too fast so that we did not have time for breakfast before our long wait at the airport. But, as it turned out it was just as efficient as embarkation and went very smoothly.

The need to request ice on Carnival started a few years ago. We have also seen it Princess. We enjoyed this sailing as well.
