Review summary

To say that my husband and I enjoyed our first cruise is an understatement. We started talking about when we could cruise again on the plane home. The Carnival Glory is a great ship, not too big and not too small. We found that no matter if you liked to hit the casino or just wanted to chill in the whirlpool there was something for everyone on this ship. We did learn that next time we want a cabin more mid-ship rather than being so far aft. If you do go on this ship, I hope you get Benni as a steward. Benni really took care of us and was such a nice man.

One thing we did was purchase Carnival's Faster to the Fun program, while a little expensive it was totally worth it. We were on the ship and more importantly off the ship quicker than most of our shipmates. When we cruise with Carnival we will always try to get in on this program.

Overall we would cruise again on this ship and will cruise again with Carnival in the future.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Don't miss dinner in the dining room, the food was really good. If you like your dessert, order a 2nd or go to the Lido Deck later as we found they had smaller portions of the desserts.

Ship Quality

It seemed every time I looked up somebody was cleaning something on this ship, this crew worked hard.

Cabin / Stateroom

We had an ocean view cabin and were surprised it was larger than we expected and larger than the room we stayed in the night before in Miami. Being so far aft we did end up doing a fair bit of walking, and when the ship pulled into port we did feel the engines a good bit. Overall though I liked the cabin, with only other cabins above us we didn't have the noise that cabins in other parts of the ship had.

Ship tip

If you need a quiet whirlpool especially in the heat of the day, try going to the gym. There is a great whirlpool there only accessible through the locker rooms, it is rarely used and has a great view. Also at night both the serenity whirlpool and the aft whirlpools tended to be lightly used.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

Even with the cold ocean this was one of my favorite places on the trip. Get off the ship early and rent a clam shell if you want to stay out of the sun. The sand was so soft and with lunch provided we had a great beach day.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

If you are planning a water based excursion here, be sure to have a back up plan. Our first choice was cancelled and we ended up at the last minute on an excursion that wasn't that great. I liked the setup here as there are shops near the pier so you have time to shop and do an excursion if you choose. We actually shopped, came back to the ship and had lunch then went back out for our excursion.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

If you like history, take the Fortresses of San Juan tour. You will learn a lot about the forts and it is safer than going on your own.
