Review summary

I chose this cruise for it's low price which was a mistake. They charge for room service if you want hot food. The buffet was terrible! I have never spit out so much food in my life! The sit down restaurants were very snooty. Hostesses acted like you were bothering them. Carnival did not post anywhere that there were 2 formal nights yet they refused service to everyone dressed casually. The entire staff was poorly trained. I was cut off over 50 times by staff who expected you to get out of their way, it should be the other way around. The food was terrible to mediocre everywhere except Guys burgers which was great,

luggage was left in the hallway not placed in the room. No one even knocked, I found it there in the morning!

For 7 days no one on picked up the phone NO SERVICE for anything. My neighbor was smoking on the balcony all the time. Security was not listed on the phone, if it was, they too probably would not answer. Never saw a security guard anywhere.

The fire drill was not proper as they did not require you to bring your life jacket. I found them very hard to get on as I am a large person.

People were complaining at the spa for being charged when they only came in for the free consultations offered. I am monitoring my card and will protest if they try that with me.

The comedians were good but all other entertainment was terrible.

Movies being played broke down often

My first excursion was canceled and they did not tell me. I only found out after searching for 30 minutes for someone who knew anything. Gave us no time to book another.

their private island stop - terrible food. over crowded, and no shopping worth your time.

I last sailed with Princess. Their Alaskan was incredible! Great staff (porter gave me his cell and ALWAYS answered if we needed anything, Room service was free and great food. Most food was good. None of the above problems were experienced with Princess. Will use them for the next cruise.

Wow, please don't sail Carnival again! I encounter enough haters in my daily life, don't need you on my vacation also. I always see a few on the ships, I just laugh and walk away. People it's a vacation, if you have no vacation mode stay home.

dwoodgar49    8 years ago

Thanks for telling him, so I don't have to. Sounds like he was expecting to be led around by his nose ring. Good grief, nothing is perfect. I had a clogged shower drain, so called maintenance. They came within 15 minutes and fixed the drain in 10 minutes, no problem. Should I complain because the drain was clogged? Come on man, pack a collared shirt and long pants for those 2 formal nights.

mfjkmfjk    8 years ago

The porter gave him their personal cell phone number??? Big deal, there aren't any PORTERS on the ship, there're in the ports to get your luggage to and from the ship. I agree he needs to stay away from CCL, spend a lot of extra $$$$ with the other more upscale (we've cruised them before, upscale just a nice word for SNOOTY) cruise lines.

majack16    8 years ago

no reason to bash the guy for him posting his experience. that's the purpose of this site. some people are high maintenance and some aren't. move on if you don't like his comment. he may have helped other high maintenance people out by posting his experience.

carnival is a great cruise line won't go with another line ya ya CARNIVAL

Cynthiajean    8 years ago

For people like you there is a cruise line called NCL lots of food on board--- but for myself I loved the Glory did a journey cruise in Oct and had a great time---- as for the room we alyays get an inside and it's just fine for average size people!

missysmith1028    8 years ago

Guys burgers were the bomb!! I wouldn't even be that hungry and still had to have one! lol....Also the Glory was a great ship, never a dull moment!

mbp666    8 years ago

Thanks Banaford & TeresaC1963! Now I'm really psyched!!! Love Guy! Cool!

Oceans65    8 years ago

TeresaC1963    8 years ago

Why shouldn't it? The topic was how terrible the Glory is. Many disagreed and the conversation evolved to the good things. That's an improvement I would say. Lol

Oceans65    8 years ago

WOW. this got off topic. LOL

TeresaC1963    8 years ago

Me too mbp. Then Banaford keeps making it worse by talking about the delicious foods and he is right about Guys; it's different than 5 Guys. I'm with you, not impressed by their burgers at all. I so love their fries though and they make a pretty good grilled cheese. Lol

banaford    8 years ago

It is not Five Guys. We have that in our town as well. It is Guys Burgers (Guy Fieri -dinner drivins and dives) Try it anyway. And enjoy the melting cake. Have a great cruise.

mbp666    8 years ago

Lol, I'm guessing the Five Guys on board tastes different than that of the ones I've been to in PA, OH & IL....I'm just not impressed. Now if they had a Burgatory, then you have an amazing burger!! Gonna try some of that melting chocolate cake everyone is raving about!! So excited!! Dieting & listening to all of the fab food options is killing me!! hahahaaa

Hrhartman    8 years ago

It never ceases to amaze me how someone can turn a magnificent experience into !@#$%^&*. In 14 cruises, we have combined not had the negative experience this guy had on one. This includes dodging a hurricane on one of them. Glory -- Here we come in 15 days! Yeaaaa.

portosolcruiser    8 years ago

Where are your friends Moe and Curly. Larry you obviously have no idea what happens on a cruise. Stay home

djheather    8 years ago

been on glory, was a great time! my luggage was placed I need my room. the food was excellent! the people and staff were great! recommend glory!

DreamBigandGo    8 years ago

we are going on the Glory in September. this will be rhe first time on the Glory but have never had a bad experience with any other carnival ships

racinmom    8 years ago

Nice to hear positive things for a change

kevinandlynn    8 years ago

we just got back from a 10 day cruise on the glory. the staff was awsome, the food was great. you can order as much as you want at dinner. we actually had 3 formal nights. we did not realize the 3rd one until we walked in and saw the tablecloths. my husband was in shorts and I was in jeans. our waiter said "no problems, have a seat". this is our 5th criuse on carnival and never had a bad experience.

arogers12    8 years ago

it's obvious this guy has never been on a cruise in his life!

bN1viyXMzR1nVoqVvomGAc2yb    8 years ago

I am only in my cabin to sleep and get dressed I love people so I have to go where the people are that's having fun Carnival is known for the fun ship and they do there best to provide that but like everything in life there always a bad egg to try to spoil the fun

mikerdesi    8 years ago

that's true

firemanbobswife    8 years ago

Well I would be very upset if the neighbor was smoking on the balcony as it is not allowed. I would have let my room steward know and they would make sure it was addressed.

mikerdesi    8 years ago

I wanna know why does he care what the person next door was doing. i am not even in my cabin half the time on a cruise

bN1viyXMzR1nVoqVvomGAc2yb    8 years ago

so right Mikerdesi I for one don't want to see security that means something terrible went wrong

mikerdesi    8 years ago

and security wasn't listed on his phone and didn't see security. isn't that a good thing not seeing security??

mikerdesi    8 years ago

and his luggage wasn't in the cabin and there was to many people on the island for him

mikerdesi    8 years ago

Hahaha iheart. no he just couldn't get to the food fast enough the staff was in his way. he must be a real joy to cruise with.

Iheartsailnsand    8 years ago

I'm curious...why didn't you complain about the toilet flushing too loud, the staff's accents, or your undies not being ironed daily? I'm so sad that I'm cruising in 15 days and you're not there to brighten my vacation with your positive disposition and ability to make lemonade out of bananas.

amandalipke    8 years ago

I am guessing that no matter what happened on this cruise you would not have been happy. A little reading before your trip & you would have known about the 2nd formal night. I have been on 3 cruises with carnival & I have only once had something I didn't like in the mdr the waiter brought me something new right away. People that deliver luggage don't have access to your room. Get over it!

Oceans65    8 years ago

I'm going on the Glory in April and I'm going to have an exceptional time. Especially knowing this party pooper won't be on bored sacking all the fun out of the air with his BS negativity.

lklitsch    8 years ago

we were on the Glory last May...14 of us...we had a great time and service.

bN1viyXMzR1nVoqVvomGAc2yb    8 years ago

I was on the Glory July 2015 loved everything about her I don't know why all the complaints always cruise Carnival have 4 more cruises booked right now all with Carnival

missysmith1028    8 years ago

our steward was beyond super...it was our 1st cruise so I thought that is what they did. Glad to know not to expect that next time..thanks!

DreamBigandGo    8 years ago

I been on 10 carnival cruises and never had luggage placed inside. Yall must of had an excellent steward

firemanbobswife    8 years ago

Then that was your Room Steward being nice. It is only delivered to the outside of the room.

missysmith1028    8 years ago

when we sailed In October on the Glory, yes our luggage was put in our room on our bed.

DreamBigandGo    8 years ago

luggage is never placed inside and u should should not cruise anymore. everything you complained about has no merit. I'm sure there is no pleasing you.

gatoraugustine    8 years ago

We've been on the Glory several times and it is great.

mike55    8 years ago

Yes chocolate melting cake is why we have to lose four pounds before our trip. Leave February 20th on the Conquest. Will be great to get out of this weather for a while.

firemanbobswife    8 years ago

What I likes most about the ship is being off work and not having to cook or clean :) The Crew is super friendly and they always greet you with a hello. I just love cruising so it's hard to point out specifics.

missysmith1028    8 years ago

Did I hear chocolate melting cake?? lol

missysmith1028    8 years ago

we went on the Glory in October. ...loved it....everything and everyone is so upbeat!! Except for larrymarano. !! haha!! we really didn't have any issues except being sad when it was time to leave. There is always something fun to do, or just sit and do nothing and watch the people. The drinks were awesome and guys burgers were out of this world...

mikerdesi    8 years ago

I know so true I'm trying to figure out what shore excursions to do. the way this lady makes carnival sound it's so awefull. I have only been on one cruise before it was royal Caribbean and it was a smaller ship I believe.

TNTGreen    8 years ago

Me too Teresac1963! Trying to drop another 6-10lbs. Down 60 since given birth in July. I'm so hungry right now.

TeresaC1963    8 years ago

Thanks Banaford for not mentioning them. Lol

banaford    8 years ago

mikerdesi, if you are a beer guy, try thirsty frog. Read your fun times for everything going on. Then good luck deciding what to do. And remember you are on vacation. relax...have fun!

mikerdesi    8 years ago

mmm I'm getting hungry now lol

banaford    8 years ago

Teresac1963, lol so sorry...then I won't mention blue iguana or the chocolate melting cake.

mikerdesi    8 years ago

well anyone who went on glory was curious lol. looks like a fun ship and heard guys burgers are amazing

TeresaC1963    8 years ago

Banaford shame on you for bringing up Guys when I'm sitting here starving trying to lose weight before my cruise in May. Lol. I can't wait to try Guys.

banaford    8 years ago

I am notgatoraugustine, but we have been on Glory 5 times. So we like it. Try a guys burger! yum-yum

mikerdesi    8 years ago

Oh also fireman bobs wife and racingmom what did you enjoy most on the ship

mikerdesi    8 years ago

I'm going on the glory in 9 days noticed gatoraugustine cruised on the ship before. did you have a good time any tips?

mikerdesi    8 years ago

I can see it now her knocking over the staff so she can get her food

Kdorville    8 years ago

This is ridiculous. Complaints after complaints. Oh my.

racinmom    8 years ago

You haven't had to bring your Life Jacket in years

firemanbobswife    8 years ago

I have been on the Glory 6 times and enjoyed each one of my cruises.

firemanbobswife    8 years ago

Luggage has NEVER been placed in the rooms on any of my cruises. This includes Celebrity. Didn't you think to look outside your door? Weren't you wondering where your stuff was? The smoking issue could have been handled by your room steward. Due to safety hazards - think people tripping over the straps to the life jackets - they are no longer brought to muster. This is common on other cruises.

firemanbobswife    8 years ago

Room service is free. There is a separate section for the pay items. We have had nothing but excellent service in the MDR. Elegant evening is mentioned in the Fun Times, on the free Hub App, and also on the sign out front of the MDR. Glad to see they are sticking to the dress code.

TeresaC1963    8 years ago

It's common knowledge and on Carnival FAQs that there are 2 formal nights on 7 day cruises. Guess you should have informed then that you can't read so they knew to personally tell you everything. Smh.

jameeconner    8 years ago

I see you only have 2 cruises posted to your Ship Mate. All cruise lines are different. EVERYONE has a different experience on them. I personally wouldn't cruise with Princess because I think the people that cruise with them are snotty.

banaford    8 years ago

lol...yep

mike55    8 years ago

Guess who owns Princess Cruise Lines

mikerdesi    8 years ago

the porter gave u his cell?? lol probably because you complain so much. and royal leaves suitcases outside as well. who rates the stupid safety thing they do at the start of a cruise lol

TNTGreen    8 years ago

You can't blame them for everything poor planning on your part.

TNTGreen    8 years ago

First and foremost you have to do your research. Which you obviously didn't do before cruising. If the cruise is over 5 days their are 2 formal nights it clearly states that on Carnival site. As well as the dress code for other nights. I've been on RC and they left the luggage outside the door so that's pretty normal. The lifejacket is not mandatory and should be stated in Fun Times.

banaford    8 years ago

Obviously you loose your reading ability while cruising. Almost ALL of above mentioned was in your funtimes, delivered to your room each evening. By law fire drills no longer require you take your life vest. Please do not cruise carnival again. Please look for a higher price line cruise. One that will more cater to your needs.

missysmith1028    8 years ago

What a complainer. ....we were on there in October and the cruise was wonderful , the food was fine and on formal night, yes you could dress casual, just no cut off jean shorts. the staff was very friendly and made sure everyone had a good experience. You need to get a grip!
