Review summary
A woman killed herself while my family and I was on our cruise. Though I feel for the family I am not happy that all I got back was $50 and 25% off the next cruise. I still have nightmares from seeing them pull her dead body out of the ocean. I cannot say that I plan to sail back with Carnival may try Royal Caribbean therefore the 25% will not benefit me. We never got to go to the Grand Cayman.

Hi -
As disturbing as any tragedy is, I agree with previous statements that no one forced you to watch them pull this poor woman's body from the ocean. I work in health care and do not share people's morbid curiosity as to occurrences like this. I see enough pain and suffering because of my work. You just can't unsee something so my advice is always to find something else to do rather than just stand and stare.
As for the change in your itinerary, Carnival was rather generous in adding a discount on a future cruise. While refunding the port charge is standard, the future cruise discount is not. Perhaps with some additional time, you can find more to have enjoyable memories about.

Not fair to blame Carnival for a passenger jumping off the ship to kill herself. A death on a cruise always puts a damper on the cruise.
When I was on RCI Song Of America a gentleman at the next table dropped into his dinner plate, just face down "Thunk". The ship doctor was called and they tried to revive him with CPR and cardiac paddles, Nothing worked he was dead.
I did not expect any credit or money from RCI, I felt terminable for the family and the crew.
Maybe you should think of others. It is so common for people to die on a ship that the ships have morgue storage.
