Review summary

Overall our experience was a good one. It would have been much better if children on the cruise would have been supervised a little more closely as there was a lot of running up and down hallways and banging on walls. Also, I feel there should be separate evening entertainment for children. There were many large groups of families on this cruise and their children took over the Karaoke on most nights. It would also be nice if guests in cabins with overhead galley were warned as there was a lot of banging and noise throughout the night making it impossible to get sleep.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food was very good on this cruise.

Onboard Activities

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Entertainment does not get an excellent from me because children took over evening entertainment in some areas especially the Karaoke. There should be a curfew for small children or separate evening entertainment for them.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Romiel Lucero, James and Katherine were exceptional and really made our experience excellent.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Some areas on the Lido deck were not very clean, especially the windows. We saw some mustard smears and hand prints on the windows.

Cabin / Stateroom

1 out of 5
We did not get a single good night sleep. There was banging and noise overhead all night long. I could not figure out why until I realized our cabin was located underneath a galley. I understand the crew needs to work at all hours of the night but they should take into consideration the fact that guests are trying to get sleep during the night and be a little more careful as they go about their work.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

Cozumel, Mexico

Belize City, Belize

We went on the Xunantunich Mayan Ruins and although there is a 2 hour trip to get there it was worth it.

Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

3 out of 5
Not much to do there and we were afraid to take a cab into town as we heard there had been some crime against tourists there.

George Town, Grand Cayman Did not visit port

Our cruise did not make it to Grand Cayman as we were delayed because of man overboard.

When booking a ship cabin is like buying a home,  Location, Location, Location.   I always have the deck plans up on my computer when I'm booking a cabin so I can see what is over it, next to it and under it.   Many travel sites show the deck plans.

I wondered that same thing stacyg. I was told by my rep at Carnival that as long as the kids are out of school to anticipate them also cruising. I asked about a cruise around the holidays and was told that was a super busy time for them. So basically before school lets out is the best time to go.

Has anyone ever gone on a cruise during Christmas week? I'm going this December - wondering if it will be a lot of kids as well?

I do agree that the kids were out of control and the parents ignored their poor behavior (if you're referring mainly to the Ledo deck main pool). Sadly their parents were right there. I just removed myself from that area and went to the adults only pool near the pizza restaurant. It was much better there. So was the Serenity Deck area. i brought a small fan to drown out the hallway noise.

We always go when kids are in school. Some kids are still there but not as many.

I agree that the kids should be supervised but I don't feel that that responsibility should fall on the Carnival team. Unfortunately there are parents that literally go on vacation (mentally & physically) when they have their children with them. Even though the family is on vacation the parents should still supervise and discipline their children. I myself as a parent supervised my children so no to disrupt anyone else's vacation. Everyone pays good money and waits months in anticipation for their vacation to come and then the day arrives and you can't enjoy yourself because you're annoyed from the unsupervised children. not to mention what if they get hurt? will you blame carnival? So please... just watch your kids! If not leave them at home where they can run around!

We always book our cruises when kids are in school. We did book a cruise Thanksgiving week and it turned out to be a cruise from hell. Many children off for the week and on the cruise. They took over the ship.
