The staff was amazing! The others guests were a lot of fun! The ports were very nice. The only disappointment was the weather for our two days at sea heading home. It was cloudy, windy, and raining. So we bellied up to the bar and drank our blues away!!!

Freedom cruise by wonderwoman241

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean

Have not cruised in 5 years, was nice to be back!  everything was great except the chicken in the main dining room, it was pretty bad.  All the other food was great.  And the burgers at Guy's drive in are exceptional!

Carnival is cheapening the crusing experience by rickkcsa

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean

The most outstanding thing of the cruise are the people and staff aboard the ship.

The ports of call were quite enjoyable, however the favored one on this cruise was Ocho Rios, Jamiaca.  The people of that town stood out in friendliness, helpfulness, and an overall sense of welcome they projected to the visitors.

The Carnival corporation, however, has seriously tarnished the cruising experience in several ways.  The most outstanding is the  doing away with simple table cloths on the tables, other than 'Cruise Elegant' nights.

On the 'Cruise Elegant' nights, I saw everything from blue jeans to tee shirts and ball caps.  In other words, there was no support from management regarding those of us who wished to participate in the elegance that was at one time, prevalent in cruising.

Carnival has cheapened the cruising experience by doing away with evening shows and entertainment in the big theatre.  Carnival has degraded the food quality by changing to a different brand butter, and to add further insult, Carnival keeps drastically increasing prices for staterooms, and charging more and more for things on the ship.

In other words, Carnival Corporation is now stooping to nickel and diming every cruise passenger to death, just to fatten their pockets.

Carnival is certainly no longer the "Fun Ship".

Great for some "down" time :) by sandilee79

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The cruise overall was great. Service for the stateroom was fantastic! Food was great, service in all food areas was great. Cleanliness was very good. The atmosphere was good. The only thing that we didn't like, was the "shopping savings book" was a waste of $25 and of our time attending the "show". The other entertainment including the bingo games (our first time ever playing) was great. This was both my husbands and my first cruise and we are looking forward to our next with Carnival Cruises.

Consistent value for the price by GloryChaser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The service was great. The food was excellent. The ship was clean and well-maintained. The staff was attentive. The excursions we took exceeded our expectations. And, above all, the price was very very reasonable. We keep coming back to Carnival because the value we receive for our investment is outstanding.

Our Cruise Director and The Fizzy Pop Band was the Best Ever! by cammyharrison

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Malcolm "Woo Hoo" C'mere Burn was the most entertaining Cruise Director we have ever been around.  He was hilarious!  His humor was quick, witty and current!  He has an amazing ability to engage with others! He made all of the events he hosted more enjoyable! We laughed the whole time watching his facial expressions and hearing his spontaneous comments!  He is our Favorite! In addition to Malcolm's amusing interactions, The Fizzy Pop Band had the most talented artists.  Diana and Mateo were amazing singers who were able to perform a variety of genre from country to pop, old and new songs.  Many of the songs they sang sounded better then the original recording artist.  The only negative thought is that it will be difficult if not impossible to exceed the talent and abilities of all of these wonderful people. Unfortunately, we brought some friends who were first time cruisers so they are going to have very high expectations for their next cruise!   What a great experience!

Wish ship had more things to do. Needed more than just hot tubs and pools. Overall it was nice. Had a relaxing time. Jamaica was not as nice as the other two ports. Had great time in cozumel and grand cayman.  Would love to return. Our waiter  at dining room was incredibly loved him.

Our First Cruise by kennyd48

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our first cruise was amazing! Meredith Jester made the process of booking very easy. She was very knowledgeable and willing to answer the many questions I had, which were several! The accommodations were large and very clean. Our steward, JoJo, was wonderful. We looked forward to the animals he left for us every day. Also, he left us spa gift cards for our birthdays! The breakfast buffet was very good; lunch and dinner buffets just okay. Guy's burgers were delicious. We were a bit disappointed that the other restaurants closed by 3. We also enjoyed the Posh dining room. The servers there were great as well as the food. Please do something about the iced tea. I drink a gallon a day at home and the tea on the ship was disgusting! We loved the entertainment; from the comedy club, to the 70's nightclub and the band in the atrium (simply amazing). We will definitely cruise again!!

Wouldn't Recommend this ship! by crystal0108

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This Cruise was for my husband and I's anniversary, It was his first cruise and his last on Carnival.  We left on Saturday and by Wednesday our hallway smelled of sewage and lasted until the last day. We were given a  free coupon for pictures and because the gentlemen behind the counter didn't want to reprint, we were able to use the coupon. The food choices were horrible and not many other items to choose from. Carnival made it so you can't smoke on the balcony, however, why should I have to share the smoking deck with someone smoking pot, and security just walked by as he rolled a joint. I twisted my knee on the stairs due to having to use them so many times, because 3 of the 6 elevators had x's on them. Was not impressed at all with this cruise ship.

Had a blast! Not impressed with Jamaica though by twee4spurs

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)

I love to lay back and relax in the sun while sipping on tasty beverages.  This cruise fit the bill. An appropriate number of ship days vs on shore days.  The crew was friendly and outgoing.  Leizle (??) was wonderful!  She always had a smile on her face and was sure to let us know that she was there for anything we needed with our room.  The food was great!  I will not take another cruise that stops in Jamaica.  The country was not very appealing.

Nice Cruise by khopp

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Roatan was the best part of the cruise.  Also, the staff in the chic diningroom was exceptional.  Belize was nasty. The cruise was average.  Did see some not so clean areas on this ship.  This was a nice cruise but was not the best.

First time cruiser by lairdutemp

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

this was my first cruise and thanks to Carnival I'm hooked. The Freedom is awesome, the crew was fantastic. My Steward for my room Allan was right on it, my room was spotless, and to come back at night to the bed turned down was great. My favorite bartenders was Supha and Sompow at the Attrium bar, they knew who I was when I sat down at the bar. They rock.. And the dining experience in the Chic restaurant was outstanding, our waiter Israel made my day. He always was smiling and taking really good care of us. I loved it when they announced it was Showtime and all the waiters and hostess would come dancing down the aisles. I'm really impressed and looking forward to cruising with Carnival again.Love

Wonderful, Fun, Attentive Crew; Fun Activities on the Ship by johnnydavis

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our first cruise and we didn't know what to expect.  Therefore, we had no preconceived notions.  The porters were excellent and the wait staff in the Posh and the Chic were fabulous.  Malcolm was fun and funny.  He was everywhere helping in whatever capacity in which help was needed.  There was a little difficulty with debarkation such as long wait and some confusion about where to wait for our deck to be called.  But, hey, with that many people, it seemed to be par for the course (although it seemed that some other "seasoned" passengers were not happy).  The ship was always clean and having housekeeping come twice a day was totally surprising!

One of us uses a CPAP machine and there were no plugs next to the bed. In fact, the entire cabin only had one place to plug into.  None in the bathroom, either.  So, we had to string the cord across the bed and on the floor.  It barely reached and was a fall hazard when we got up at night to the bathroom.

The food was always good, no matter where we ate. The mixed drinks were very well done.

We thought we had booked two of our excursions through Carnival.  We did not realize that we were being directed to when we clicked on a link to book them.  After we arrived on the ship, we realized that there were Carnival excursions.  That is the way to go because one of our excursions did not turn out the way we were hoping.  We went to San Pueblo in Belize via small airplanes through Ecological Tours (that may not be the correct name). The people that took us by plane and by car to and from the airport were very good....but we were dropped off and didn't know what to do.  We didn't know how to go see the birds, etc., that we thought we were going to see...so we just walked around the streets to see how the people live, had lunch and then left.

One place that we did book through Carnival was at Roatan island.  An hour of our time was spent in driving there and back.  It was a nice resort (Princess Myan, I believe), but we were constantly harassed by vendors....the worst ones were the massage ladies.  They would not take no for an answer, even massaging my shoulders even after I asked them to stop.  They even followed me into the ocean.Angry

But, overall what we experienced on the ship was a positive experience.  Love Carnival's Freedom.Love

cruise by glendab3242

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

All staff were excellent. Eduardo and Yousuf in the dining room were outstanding and went over and above to assure we had a wonderful dining experience. Our stateroom not so good. The shower leaked really bad. It drained very slowly and when the water was turned off you could watch the water fill the entire bathroom floor. The smoke from the casino filled the entire fifth floor. It seemed like the exhaust fans were not working properly.

1st timer!! by jdrjas

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My wife and I had a great time; it was both our 1st time taking a cruise. We really didn't have any expectations but we didn't have any issues with anything. All staff was friendly and professional. Everything ran smoothly, and made our vacation awesome. We had the BEST waiter (Dani from Peru) for breakfast and dinner everyday.

This was my second cruise,My first cruise was on Carnival Extacasy,It was very nice boat and cruise,The Freedom needs some improvement.I took my Sisters, all 60 years and above on this cruise for my 60 th birthday, all we found with no faults was the staff, they were great,The food was less desirable,Didnt like the choice of music,Not enough country music,to much loud rock and roll,The beds were very hard, our back hurt every morning, getting out of bed,I know we are getting older, but still not any comfort.Dont like to complain, but needs some changes,                                                                                       Thanks Judy Hyde
