Review summary

This Cruise was for my husband and I's anniversary, It was his first cruise and his last on Carnival.  We left on Saturday and by Wednesday our hallway smelled of sewage and lasted until the last day. We were given a  free coupon for pictures and because the gentlemen behind the counter didn't want to reprint, we were able to use the coupon. The food choices were horrible and not many other items to choose from. Carnival made it so you can't smoke on the balcony, however, why should I have to share the smoking deck with someone smoking pot, and security just walked by as he rolled a joint. I twisted my knee on the stairs due to having to use them so many times, because 3 of the 6 elevators had x's on them. Was not impressed at all with this cruise ship.

Jus me.... I agree with good vs bad reviews. I read alot of good before we went but when we got back alot of people has similar reviews as mine. When I called customer service it was not to "get anything" it was to let them know that they had issues. But yet again she was argumentative and didn't understand why I would call and complain and not want something. I said because these things need to be addressed and corrected for people who may be first time goers that you ruined from ever coming back. I personally know service is much better or can be and that added to my disappointment. You may never notice if service is better but you definitely notice when it's worse.

Segovia.... if I were exaggerating my experience for whatever reason you believe I'd talk a Lil smack here and hop my ass back on a boat out of Galveston like nothing, but I'm so seriously disappointed from my March trip that my next TWO sailings I will drive from Texas to Miami to sail on a different cruise line for one.... and on a ship I had a wonderful time on that now sails out of Florida. All to avoid stepping foot back on this ship! So of driving over 2000 miles out of my way when I live 30 miles from the port of Galveston doesn't tell you I was beyond pissed idk what type of expectations you have but I expect service, kindness, not to be lied to, to have a fully functional ship ect. And as far as the people who sailed after June there would have been different staff. When we were on the sweet ladies in the pub said they only had a few months before they changed out staff for breaks and alot of people on the freedom were on last term contracts meaning basically they put in a notice to not stay so yes I'm sure it changed buy don't questions experience because yours wasn't bad

We just came back from the cruise Oct 29, and it was amazing the staff was great!! We stayed on the 6th floor with Harry being our steward. We enjoyed every bit of the cruise, every night at dinner you had different choices of food, the Lido deck 9 always had food you couldn't go wrong anywhere. But most definitely the staff was truly wonderful they all made sure everything was going great for you. Our first cruise we enjoyed it and already booked for next year 2017.

Just be careful about NCL... they are known for "nickel and diming."

Very well said Creis60.    a review is just one persons opinion of what happened to them on that one cruse in that one cabin and with that one set of MDR staff....... so people in different cabins MDR seating and different dates of sailing will all have different issues.

I have found that a hard core group of Carnival cruisers attack anyone that gives a bad review.

A bad review is as important as a good one to give a fully rounded idea of the ship.   If all we got were good reviews then checking reviews would  be useless.

It simply amazes me how some of you jump to conclusions regarding the disposition of someone giving a review on this site. Just because they experienced problems on their cruise and choose to let others know does not make them an unhappy person. Everyone has a different idea of what fun is for them, what their taste is in food etc. etc etc. a cruise can be different for each person on the ship.

Sailed her September 24. Have sailed Princess, RCCL and NCL. We loved Freedom and had no real issues.

Wow seriously?! We went on Freedom October 8th and loved everything about it! I've been on 6 other ships and both my husband and I liked this one the best.

We were on the Freedom in September, loved it.

Shelenac, sorry to say but it sounds like your exaggerating and making a huge deal of nothing. I find it hard to believe all staff was rude, maybe you came across one or even two (and that's pushing it) but all? Those people work very hard to please all guests and if you ask me (previous cruiser with carnival but diet time user on this app) they do a great job! Sorry about your "experience"

We were on freedom in march and we had the same issues. Crappy service at all of the bar except the red frog they were great. Elevators out if service also. Food was not at all comparable to previous cruise on the magic. The staff was not helpful and rude. Couldn't use and coupons on the photos. Was charged 120$ above the listed price on massages and didn't get to book on my anniversary cause supposedly they were booked solid so we done it on a sooner date only to find the spa doin half price therapy all day and had noone. I addresses all of my issues with carnival and was rudely told well too bad you're not gonna get any money back. I was seriously offended since that was not my intention. My intention was to simply voice how disappointed I was. We booked our family vacation of 7 for Dec on NCL and told carnival to stick it. They called me to follow up on my inquiry about a Christmas cruise and I said no thanks. So they emailed me an apology and 15% off a future cruise. Again I ignored it. I wasn't asking to be bought. I wasn't happy with the experience. My husband decided we would try again and booked next April on the magic. I'll try carnival again but I wouldn't set foot back on the freedom even if it were 100% free

Did you notify Carnival about these issues? If so, did you receive response from Carnival?

I was on the Freedom left on Oct 8th and had the time of my life! There was so much to do I didn't have time to get into the pool or hot tub! We loved the food and had no problems with elevators! You must not be a very happy person not to do nothing but complain! Go somewhere on plane, train, bus or drive next time!

I'm sorry about your experience but I have been on Freedom twice this year (may and july) and I am booked on her again in January....I LOVE the food, the staff and the ship. There is a rule to no smoking on the balconies but not everyone gets caught, if they do they pay the consequences.

banaford    8 years ago

All cruise lines have changed to no smoking on balconies. Just FYI for future cruise on another line.
