First Cruise by juliegarri

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship is beautiful.  The only thing that you need to be aware of is the excursions.  Please know where you are to go as we were directed to wrong location and almost missed our bus.  It is a little disorganized.

Amazing time, Great People, Decent Food by anthonyumlauf

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

There was always something going on.  This was our first cruise and we'll definitely go again.  We're glad we got the balcony room.  The cleaning people kept the room spotless.  All of the waitstaff was very friendly.  But the food could have been a little better.  It was very good, but not great.  I still ate a ton!  The breakfast was nothing to brag about.  But there was something for everyone in all departments.  We left the kids at home, but it was very kid friendly.  There was also a "serenity" deck for 21+ that was very quiet.  The comedy acts were great, the shopping was fantastic, and there was so much to do.  Certainly not enough time, even though it was a week long.  Even the port excursions were awesome and reasonably priced.  I'd recommend to anyone and will bring the kids next time.

A little disappointing! by rtkg2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

First of all, our experience in booking the cruise through was excellent in all respects, but the cruise itself was disappointing.  We had cruised Carnival in excess of 20 times prior to this cruise, and are Plantium in Carnival's VIFP Club.  20 friends and relatives had booked this cruise, and we decided to join them, and looked forward to it for months.  It became apparent almost immediately that the service and amenities on Carnival are not what we had experienced in the past.  The cabin steward acted like it was a chore to service the cabin.  It took until day 3 for him to bring a sharps container for my husband's insulin needles, and we had to request glasses for the bathroom - took 2 days.  Getting the ice bucket filled also seemed to be a chore for him.  On the Lido deck the first morning, all of the tables were filled with dirty dishes.  Everyone was sliding dirty dishes out of the way, to sit and eat in one little corner of a table.  As Platinum guests, Carnival gave us a tray of strawberries on the first formal night.  It was delivered to our cabin, and the strawberries were inedible -- mushy and starting to mold!  There are no more chocolates on the pillow at night, and if you want the cabin freshened up more than once a day, you have to request it.  Dining room food was good with a nice selection, and the Pasta Bella for lunch was delightful.  The ports were a lot of fun, and we went on tours in 2 ports out of the 3.  We booked our tours outside of Carnival and had a great experience with both.  In the 3rd port, we went sightseeing on our own.  The embarkation process was excellent, which made up for the debarkation process being the worst ever!  Again, I want to stress that did an excellent job in handling the booking arrangements, and I want to give a special thanks to Angela Dawson for her exceptional customer service.

Cruise Critique by chucklein

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall, a very good week.  Wonderful musical productions.  As always, food was plentiful....the quality was mixed, however.  Service and friendliness was excellent.  My wife has health issues and we did not leave the ship.It is convenient to cruise out of New Orleans, as it is an easy two hour drive from our home in Lafayette, LA.

One point of clarification.  I thought that we were to receive on board credits.  I asked about the same, and was advised to contact you after the cruise. Your thoughts and guidance?

Thanks.

Chuck Lein

Very windy by crescenttruss

I know Carnival can't stop the wind from blowing but the high winds the first two days was a bummer. After that the wind laid down a bit and it was much nicer.

Amazing Experience!!! Decent Food!!!! Great Staff!!! by jiteshkunder

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The highlight of this cruise was the Staff. They were very courteous and provided great service. The rooms were good and clean. The food was good but a little more spice could have gone a long way. I did not like the fact that the most of food options were restricted during the day until 3.00 PM. The desserts were amazing. The shows were great. Again, It would be ideal to take the service / housekeeping / food staff to any vacation. A big thumbs up.

Family vacation by tanadrake

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Took my mother in law and two sons (9 and 10) for spring break vacation. We had an awesome time with plenty to eat, drink, and do for everyone!! This was our first cruise so I learned a lot about what to do and what not to do. I would probably book less activity on excursions and just get off the boat to sightsee close to port as it is nerve racking and a bit too much to do when trying to fit so many activities into short periods of time.  However, excursion employees and Carnival do a great job of helping first timers get where they need to be and when. I booked our cabins on the 6th deck thinking that would be centrally located and easy to get to. It was a good location but next time I will book deck 7 or higher because the 6 th deck is above all the nightclubs and the noise was a little bothersome. If you are not a light sleeper it won't be a problem as it is not really bad but next time I will choose another deck.  All in all it was the best time we have ever had and my kids are already begging to go again!Happy

Disappointed by angelafye

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was my second cruise aboard Carnival Dream but 5th cruise overall and I have to admit I was very disappointed this time. My husband and I were most disappointed in the food, he had only one meal he enjoyed but I had none. The dos was what I was probably most looking forward to, but I was completely let down. One night we ordered the Bolganese Lasagna and the meat was raw, other tables around us were complaining as well. Although they did offer to bring another dish I was so disgusted I didn't want anything else. The 24 hour room service menu was disappointing as well. There are a few sandwiches on the menu but if you want pizza or quesadilla or a couple of other choices you had to pay extra. The lines in the buffet dining choice (the gathering) were ridiculously long, I have never waited so long in any line on any other ship before, even on much bigger ships. The two pools on the ship are small and so overcrowded I didn't even consider using them. If you want a lounge chair to lay out on a sea day you better get up at 7:30 am and get it then otherwise there will be no chairs available, and if you want to use Serenity area (adults only area) you need to be there even earlier. The entertainment was good, we did enjoy the comedy shows. The service in the main dining hall and stateroom steward were also very disappointing. I will definitely be cruising with Royal Caribbean from now on

Mediocre Service by ladyc444

The Cove balcony stateroom was great but service was somewhere between fair to poor.  I would not use Carnival again.  Princess and Royal Carribean were much better.

Bennett trip by bebennett

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

boarding the ship was quick and easy. The inside room was , ok, but would not

get one under the gallery, next time.  There was always noise in the am. The ride

was smooth, the room was ok, and the cleaning person, did a great job. It was always clean, and I looked forward to see the towel animals, at turn down. A+

I wish there was more time on land and less time at sea.  The food was great, but

wish I had tried the steak place on the upper deck, earlier in the week.  The food

was great and so was the price.  There were some places that the smoking, was

a little bother.  The shows were also great.  We had a late dinner schedule , which

caused us to miss some shows.  The weather you provided was great.  We will be back, and bring more family.

   Thanks again

Went on a vacation with my family and mother by janelizlee

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had a fanastic time! Although we went on a cruise for the fourth time with the young kids, we brought my mother along, it was her first time. She enjoyed it and had a good experience. My oldest one is five years old, there is limited excursion activities for kids aged five and under.

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I'm very upset that when I booked the trip I wasn't informed of the amenities on the ship, for example if you stay on the spa level you get discounts at the spa😳😳 actually, on the cruise ( that ship) has one of the only two for Carnival has that special spa!! Carnival Dream and Carnival Magic  I would have just appreciated the information

and, the service on that ship up around the pool was awful, they are so understaffed

18-21 year olds. Casino by annamariemullie

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We took our3-18 yr old granddaughters on a cruise for graduation. They weren't allowed in O2 Club because "too old" and not old enough to go into adult clubs to drink because underage. ( But yet allowed into casino to gamble and spend money. ) Although we allowed them to gamble but after a short time the smoke smell around them and on their clothes was horrible ! Even walking thru the casino during active hours seemed a respiratory effort.  We feel free  activities for 18-21 yr olds were limited . Our grandkids were interested in meeting new friends but were lead to either younger or older activities or groups. Would be nice if there was a dance/meeting area for this age group.    Mahogany Bay Beach over crowded. Saw teenager almost drown! Life guards did great but hard to get to her cause sooo many people!

Cruising the Caribbean by maxwelljr

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The cruise was OK, the Comedy Club was great. The food was lacking and the timing for guests returning to the ship from excursions no access to the buffet due to closing early. The excursions with the Horseback riding was terrible and the pool in the rainforest was not that great either. Shopping in Honduras was good for finding local made items, but lacking in Belize and Cozumel in the duty free shops. Not enough shopping places on the Dream. Sad

Deceiving by victordonna

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Up to $700 hundred dollars off your cruise...BS

We got a whopping $50 bucks, also got stuck in a room on deck 2 right above the engines, our porthole window view was of nothing but propeller wake.Pretty lame

Found out the next day we could have paid a few bucks more and book directly through Carnival, and get a better room. We called Cheap Cruise back and they would not let us out of the booking..

Lesson learn will not use Cheap Cruises again

Western Caribbean by kjones684

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

We had a wonderful time! We thoroughly enjoyed each shore excursion and loved our time on board as well.  We made to each port, even though the seas were a bit rough.  Our Captain was spectacular.
