Review summary

When it was all said and done this was one of our favorite cruises to date. Good friends, cold drinks (the drink package helps) and good food.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
I have always given 5 stars to the embarkation process but not this time. We went with another family and they had the check in slot right after ours, the same thing happened in reverse with them last year. We ran into some heavy traffic right at the port and were running a few minutes behind. We walked in with the other family and they walked right in and we were sent to the an EXTREMELY long line. They were on board with drink in hand before we were through security. Ridiculous!! We should have been allowed to stay together.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Good food…Guy’s Burgers!!! Never disappoints. Blue Iguana was on point once again. We tried the pasta bar and it was delicious. We ate in the dining room most nights and have a great time.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Used the aft pool a few times. Nothing out of the ordinary except a few kids with goggles and a lack of spacial awareness.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The big shows were limited. We saw the same show last time but the bells and whistles were missing. The performers sat on bar stools on stage. Not sure if there technical issues that forced this but it was a little disappointing. The couple we cruised with were picked for the love and marriage show…what a blast!!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Bar staff, dining room staff and cabin staff all did a great job.

Clean oceanview room.

Ship tip

The Dream does not have a RedFrog Pub. That has been our go to bar on the Vista and the Breeze. It was kind of difficult to find that place where you can just relax, talk or even play a game. We chose the Ocean Plaza as our place but it was so full most of the time with trivia and live music (which we loved). We had to get there early and hope for the best.

Ports of call

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

5 out of 5
Private island didn’t disappoint. Clear water and soft sand!!! The only gripe would be that we had the drink package but it didn’t work off the ship. But they did charge my sign and sail card for any drink we purchased. Curious!?!? Doesn’t make sense to me but oh well. I think we spent 2-3 hours on the island and then got back on the ship. Pretty darn cool place!!

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

5 out of 5
We chose to just get off and walk around the small area of shops right off the boat. We bought some spiced rum and had some Bahamian beers…YUMMY!!

Key West, Florida

5 out of 5
It was 90 degrees with an index of 110. We loved walking down Duval street and having key lime pie shots!! We actually got back on the ship to cool off before going para sailing. Checked that off the bucket list and it did not disappoint. It was amazing how quiet and peaceful it was up in the air!!

Nassau, Bahamas

5 out of 5
Snorkeling was awesome although my wife would disagree due to high winds and really choppy water (I looked up at one point and was the last one in the water…they were all waiting on me so they could get into the rum punch..oops!!) liked walking around the shops outside the fenced area.

Galveston, Texas
