My family had fun. I was disappointed in comparison to competitors cruse lines. Just seamed under staffed. The ship seamed like it need upgrades and maintenance.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
The embarkation went smooth. The individuals that help my family were nice and helpful.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The main dining experience was fun our waiter was very nice and funny I would like to give Wewe praise. The specialty restaurants were also good. The buffet my family and my self tried it once and was not impressed with the freshness or the options.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
Pools were ok too small for the amount of people on the ship. Needed more activity for such a long trip.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
The bands that performed in the small satellite activity areas were ok. The main performance was subpar to other cruse lines I have been on. I felt like I was watching a corny lip sink contest.
Service and Staff
2 out of 5
Every one for the most part was friendly. They seamed over worked. There was never enough bar tenders. Every place I went to get a drink I had to stand in line. The bartenders were trying to keep up there was just not enough of them to keep up with demand.
Ship Quality
1 out of 5
I was not a fan of the lay out of the ship. It was not very open feeling. I did not like having to walk through the smoking casino to walk through the main levels of the ship. The air conditioning was not able to keep the rooms cool. The shower would not drain properly. The mattress on the beds were lumpy and very uncomfortable. The staff did a good job of keeping things whipped down.
Cabin / Stateroom
2 out of 5
The cabin was clean the size was sufficient for me a 2 teen daughters. Definitely need a remodel. The beds were horrible the air conditioning would not keep the room cool. The shower would not drain properly.
Ship tip
Choose Royal Caribbean. There ships are more open concept there are more activities and the services is much faster.
Michael’s comment was right on target! Just returned from Carnival’s Celebration and it’s wonderful! Research the ships before you book. There’s something for everyone on Carnival.
Been on several cruises with shower drain problems. Just let your steward know and it will get fixed. Any time we have an issue with our cabin we just tell our steward and he/she makes sure it gets fixed, regardless of the cruise line.
Yeah, I've been on the Dream and I think this is a fair personal opinion of the ship. Carnival does do some things better than the others, but as of late, food definitely does not seem to be one of them
Thanks for the review and the details. For those reading who are new or newer to cruising, not all ships are the same, so the tip about royal’s ships being more open concept, that is true to some in comparison, but not all. Do your research on ships before booking to make sure they offer what you want.
