Review summary
The lack of good service on this cruise was ridiculous! Workers pushing carts would plow you down if you didn’t get out of the way! Who ever shouted the loudest got served next at bars because there was no orderly que. The much-marketed Guy Fieri BBQ restaurant was closed most of the days of our cruise. The food in the buffet was horrible…it was over cooked or undercooked, meat or chicken was dry. There was little to no Gluten Free options and staff was not educated about GF. Items were labeled “Gluten Free” but they were obviously contaminated because my wife suffered for two weeks after the cruise. (My wife has celiac disease). The expensive alcoholic drinks had little to no alcohol…a real ripoff. DO NOT BUY THE BEVERAGE PLAN!!! We had a beverage plan and you had to go to one of the BARS to get a beverage…and that meant waiting in no organized line to get a beverage. When you finally got the attention of a bartender they seemed putout by having to get you a “free” soft drink that was part of the beverage package. In addition, there was NO place to get a soft drink in the large Buffet restaurant!!! Again you had to go way outside the restaurant to find one of the bars! [I requested a refund from Carnival but they didn’t care…they said “beverage plans aren’t refundable once ship sails”.] DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON AN INTERNET PLAN!! We purchased an internet plan just to stay on top of our emails and news. It only worked about 20% of the time at best! And when you did get connected it was very slow! We even took our devices to Guest Services and they couldn’t figure anything out. [I must tell you that Carnival did refund the price of the internet package after I wrote two emails and threatened legal action…but don’t waste your time] On the only positive note, I will say that our Cabin Attendant was great! Just enough interaction to help us with anything we needed! And he was always available when we had to call him. There are WAY too many excellent cruise lines operating so we won’t ever be using Carnival again!Embarkation
