Review summary

Fantastic cruise to just get away! Key West is historically rich and the Bahamas are famously beautiful! A trip you will not regret!!!

Embarkation

Very smooth. We got our COVid test done at the port which helps with standing in long lines. You basically move to the front and get to wait in chairs longer.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Main dining room was ok. Buffets and Steakhouse were great. The pasta bar is not well organized. We gave up. Unfortunately it’s not really a buffet and the way it was organized on the ship was not worth the time.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We played trivia and attended shows. While there is a lot of trivia, I still wish there was more.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Comedy shows were good. I always find the main stage shows sub-par, but that is with any cruise line. Some of the live musicians were uncomfortable to listen to. Kind of pitchy.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff I was directly in contact with was excellent with the exception of the pasta bar. That came down to organization from top down and not the direct staff. They were still polite and friendly.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
It’s time for dry dock to update the lighting in some areas. Fixture of LED and different color temp fluorescents around the ship (elevators). I enjoy the layout of the Dream class. I find them easy to navigate. The ship I felt was kept clean like I said it’s an older ship and is due for some dry dock time.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Loved the cabin. Spent a lot of time there and on the balcony just relaxing away from the crowds and enjoying the ocean in peace.

Ship tip

Get breakfast tacos and burritos from Blue Iguana.

Ports of call

Key West, Florida

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

The island has suffered damage over the years and tourism is down a lot. It’s sad to see all the hotels and resorts closed. We did the Jeep excursion and the jeeps are old. The listing made it sound like it would be a little different than it turned out to be. We had fun though. Guide was great and the beach was great. The “lunch” left much to be desired.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island) Did not visit port

Wish we had based off what everyone said.

Nassau, Bahamas

Went to Blue Lagoon and had a blast. Don’t go for the food though.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
This was frustrating. A lot of improvements have been made to the process as a whole, but staff was not monitoring the forward elevators being used for disembarkation. People were riding up to ride back down. When you are on deck 11 of 12 it makes it near impossible to catch a ride when this occurs. Carnival should have made sure no one was doing this on those elevators. After 45 minutes of waiting I decided to carry two large 35-40lbs roller bags down from 11 to 3.
