Review summary

Yes this ship was a little disappointing.  It must be an older ship, because some things were in need of repair.  Windows were filthy, and paint was peeling.  Food was mediocre.  I think Carnival is spending their money on the newer mega ships rather then keeping the rest of the fleet in shape. Most likely my last Carnival Cruise.

Grand Turk Island

Nothing to do here. There are a few shops that look like they were placed there only because the cruise ship comes to port.

Oranjestad, Aruba

Great excursion in Aruba

So you can remove them before embarkation & just give cash to people??

regardless of how you choose to pay your tips, you will be charged for one day late each evening, unless you tale them off. you always have the option to adjust the amount or remove them all together prior to disembarkation day.

I always prepay my gratuities. That is my preference. It beats having to cough up the additional cash. They normally charge your sign and sail as stated by the 2nd day. If you chose to add cash to your S&S the gratuity will be deducted from your cash balance. If your S&S is linked to a debit/ credit card the amount will be charged to that card on file.

I'm a little perplexed, we just came back from our cruise August 15 - 23, 2015 and found the ship in excellent condition. No wear and tear, very clean, staff and food amazing. This Carnival cruise was one of the best. Have been on the Legend, Valor, Glory and Freedom. Loved it loved it

I am on an 8 day cruise so I know the gratuities are 96.00 pp. they said they will charge 192.00 to our sign and sail.

Hmm..what do you mean you remove it ? I'm cruising in few weeks and I was told that the gratuities are added at the end of your cruise.

The gratuities are added to your account pretty much right away. They have a certain amount times by the number of days. I always remove from my bill and give cash so I know it goes directly to them.

Can someone tell me when their gratuities were taken off their sign and sail card? Before the cruise or last night? Getting different awnsers from carnival themselves!!! Lol.

It was too bad that you didn't enjoy your cruise.  Grand Turk is a favorite port of mine.  I love the beach, the pool, the music at Margaritaville and the shops.  I have bought jewelry, clothing and other items in the stores over time.  They don't hassle you.  I even enjoy the NASA exhibits and Ron Jon's.  It is always fun to watch the flow riders, too.  Sorry to read that it wasn't fun for you. I think that you will have a better time on a newer ship.  Thanks for telling us about your experience. I hope that your future cruises meet your expectations.
