The cruise is what YOU make it! by vstruchtemeyer

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

First and foremost, the ship is beautiful and very clean!!  The ports of call were everything that I hoped they would be, just wish that we could have stayed longer but isn't that they way it is with most cruiss.  My Stateroom attendents were wonderful, everything I asked for was taken care of.   The Captain was a very personable man, as was the Matradee (Blush) and our dining room servers.  Shortly after getting into our cabin, we received a notice that our table seating was changed.  We prefer a large table and asked for one, I went down to Customer Service and thought I had it straightened out, ony to find that I did not, once we were seated at out original table.  Come to find out it was a wedding party that needed our seats, it would have been nice to have been informed of this at the BEGINNING and maybe ASKED if we would mind moving.  Instead, we were BULLIED out of our seat by the Restaurant Supervior Marchin, it was embarrassing.  I will say that, we loved who we ended up seating with at the next table!!! Next, for being on Carnival's Flag Ship, I expected the Cruise Director and his assistant to be top notch.  Very Disappointing!!!  This is cruise number 17 for us, not all with Carnival.  I do feel that I know waht to expect, so if you take this trip to be entertained you will have to make that happen yourself.  Once you do that you will not be disappointed because the food and ship itself was wonderful.

Great Ports by TTower77

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

My daughter and I choose this cruise for the ports is was visiting as we have taken 3 other cruises

and have visited many caribbean ports. This ship visited Grand Turks, Dominican Republic (La Romana), Curacao and Aruba.  Grand Turks is a very small island (about 7 sq miles) but we had a good time on the island and the tour guide provided us a great stay. La Romana is a very poor port, most people on the boat stayed less than 2 hours on the island. La Romana does not have a lot to do and we didn't feel that safe in the city. Curacao  was a very good island to visit and we really enjoyed the tour of the island. The best island to visit on this tour was Aruba. This is a very upscale island with a very good economy with many things to do. If you are taking tours of the islands you visit, do not waste your money paying the inflated costs of Carnival (similar on all ships) for a tour of the island. Just catch a tour at the port when you leave the ship. This way you can decide when you want to leave the boat and the cost of the tour is about 60% cheaper, you see the same things on the island as we saw the offical tour buses at all of our stops. However if you want to take a special excursion like ATV, submarine, scuba diving, etc, I would recommend that you book through your ship as these are special tours and few ports freely offer these excursions without being booked on the ship.

The Breeze is not a big ship when comparing to some of the ships we have traveled with on Royal Caribbean but is th ebiggest ship in the Carnival fleet. The boat size effects the number of things they can provide. Th eonly entertainment worth entering on the boat was the George Lopez Comedy Club. There are four shows each night and they were all packed becuase there is so little quality adult entertainment on the ship. The casino was always packed each night as that was the one source of entertainment. However, in eight days many people paid a big price for this "entertainment".Other shows that were good was one hypnotis show and one movie night on the Lido deck. The other shows in the big theatre were usuallt scheduled during first dinner and most of the movies on the Lido deck were not very interesting to me.

The food on the ship varied greatly. The best deal on the ship was the nightly assigned dining food and we were lucky to get a great table full of fun people abd we also had a great waiter. The food on the ship was only average compared to RC and Celebrity but was the best on the ship we ate. The other food on the boat varied. The Italian restaurant on the ship that charges an extra $12 per person was good but not great. But the service was 5*. The food on th eLido deck was good enough to eat but was nothing special except for the "Guy's hamburger" and the "Deli". Guy's hamburger was really great but hardly healthy but what the heck, we were on a  cruise.

Th eone thing on Carnival better than RC was the interior cabins, they are significantly bigger and better, especially the shower size and bathroom. The beds were very comfortable, almost to comfortable as we struggled to leave th ebeds in th emorning as we sleep so well!

I have taken cruises on three cruise lines and would rate Carnival as the third best cruise line after RC and Celebrity. If RC would cruise to some better ports we will take them in the future, otherwise we will keep looking for a cruise line as good as them.

loved the Breeze by justcru20263914

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean

Had loads of fun on this ship the entertaiment was great, realy enjoyed the piano bar at night. The staff in our dinning room was realy great we were a party of 8 and the first night we did not all get our drinks at the same time some did not get until meal was over,  but the rest of the week the dinning room staff went above and beyond, our waiter was amazing funny and entertaining.our cleaning staff for our room was wonderful we had a balcony room would not go any other way.my only complaint ok maybe 2, was breakfast did not like the set up at all not enough station everything was in the same line if you wanted just fruit you felt bad if you jump in line just to grab fruit they had the eggs, cereal, yogurt bacon ex,ex, mostly all together. other cruise line we have been on they had lots of stations fruit bar salad bar egg, bacon.potatoes  ex,ex,ex sapparated so if you wanted something in particular  you just got it,just a thought. also to get drinks, staff on deck took a long time to get a drink was faster just to get up and get it your self.but overall experience would do a carnival cruise again

Cruise was great & service excellent !!!!!

One exception, outside bar areas on boat when at a table service was poor on securing drinks, in most cases needed

to go up to the bar to receive service !!

Very disappointed by CLN

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Food, service and entertainment horrible.  What a let down.  We had traveled on Carnival ships in the past but this was just a bad experience overall.  Too bad because the ship itself is very clean and nice, and the spa was wonderful.  We purchased a spa pass for the entire length of the cruise and we felt it was the only good thing about the whole vacation.  Dining room service was so poor and inattentive that we ended up eating elsewhere after the 2nd evening.  Even the Steakhouse with the 35.00 per person cover charge was a huge let down.  Never again for Carnival.

Ocean Suite by Lovecrusing2471

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Enjoyed cruise, the stay in Aruba was too short and too long in Curaçao.   Also two consecutive days at sea should have been split in the middle of the cruise.  Four day of ports in a row was very tiring.

Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Clean, beautiful ship.Food in Marketplace good-food in main dining room terrible-limited selections with the most  tasteless food in all of my 27 cruises. Drinks very skimpy, was told Carnival only allows 1 oz per drink (certainly not on other cruise lines). Specialty restaurant Fahrenheit very good however can not say the same for the Italian restaurant Cucina-terrible

Wonderful casino and great staff. Entertainment fair. Would not recommend this ship to friends.

Carnival Breeze Jan 2014...disappointment! by SusanG28

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

If you have not been on a cruise before this may have been a good cruise but having been on the Breeze last January we were very disappointed.  I think Carnival is trying to cut costs to be the cheapest in the industry but they have gone too far.  They no longer give you a map of the recommended stores/streets in the ports of call in the paper in your cabin, they ran out of this information at the port talk on board, and they didn't have this information at the exit when you got off the ship to go into the port. They no longer have a caribbean-style band that plays on the pool deck and the individual  performers seem to be of a lesser quality than in the past.  The "jumbo shrimp" on the menu in the main dining room for supper were anything but jumbo....everyone had to order seconds (we had 4 "normal" size shrimp for the main entree!).  We didn't go to any of the shows because we have seen them all before...and we heard there was no on-board orchestra.  The arrival and departure times didn't match up with island time if there was a difference....in the past we always had to reset our watches to match island time..this issue caused many people to be late for tours that were "island time" but the time posted that we could get off the ship was ship time which was 1 hour behind (these were trips that were not booked through Carnival)...I think they maybe were trying to punish us if you didn't book their excursions. They even have stopped giving you a receipt when you order a soda or a drink from the bar/bar servers so you have to be very aware of what you are charging and then go on-line and make sure the charges are correct.  On the positive side the embarkation process has continued to improve....basically no wait and very speedy boarding process. Also,  a shout out to the specialty photographer Gabor....we had a wonderful time with our private photo shoot and the pics were wonderful...made a wonderful 35th wedding anniversary memory!

Sailing the Southern Caribbean by Cosy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We don't normally sail Carnival as we are NCL lovers, but friends we have been trying to cruise with had already picked the ship and at the last minute we decided to make this our Christmas gift. First boarding they had sent an e-mail and asked us to arrive later than noon, we did not listen and had no trouble boarding by 1230. Normally we have a balcony cabin, but because of $$ we booked an inside cabin on deck 9 and were very pleased with the layout and our cabin guy, Javier was awesome. First the positives, the food was very good, the Blush dining room was where we ate and from the lobster to prime rib night to the fish, which my wife says was the freshest she's had, the meals were very good. We did book 2 specialty restaurants, the Steak house, which was good, but I would avoid since they served prime rib and offered a steak dinner on their everyday menu. The Italian was very good and well worth the $12. The stops, Grand Turks, small island, beach is right off the ship, Curacao, we did a tour with one of the bus company's right off the ship, well worth the $20 per person, about 3 hours took you to all the main spots including where the make the licquer. La Romana, in my opinion the cruiseline should skip this stop, very poorous, unless you book a ship tour, stay on board. Aruba, our favorite stop, beautiful beach, sand was soft, water was cool. Only negative was when breeze picked up you felt like you were in a sand storm.

Daytime activities seemed to be focused on bingo and numerous triva contests, of which we attended 2 and both were very lame. Not as many pools on this ship, not sure why, but the main pool did have a giant screen, which during the day showed some old VH1 Concerts, which were good and night time they would show 2 movies. Now the not so good, which was the entertainment, there was not 1 show that we enjoyed, and part of what I like about cruising is the shows at night. As the nights went on anytime I was in the elevator I would say. so what do you think of the ship? Everyone liked the ship but said the entertainment was lacking. They did have a new cruise director, not sure if this was his first ship, but he was lousy. The casino, where I spent a lot of time, was smaller than other ones at sea, but they took your money just as fast. Bar service was very slow in the casino, you were better getting the drink yourself. Finally the 2 best spots for dining were Guy's burger joint which always had a line, but don't be discouraged they move very quickly. And the pizza on 10 was awesome, thin crust, open 24 hours, but they were very SLOW, always had to wait. All in all we had a good time with friends but can't wait to get back to NCL.

Disappointed by DTY

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This cruise was for my 50th birthday, and I had a few friends come along. We paid over 4000.00 dollars per suite, and they were small. When you advertise a walkin closet, that is what it should be. The food was horrible, no variety, and the long lines for Mongolian Wok were an everyday thing. The staff was friendly, well most of them were, we loved the ones we had, they were super nice, in the dining room too. I chose this ship, because of the ports. I hated the Dominican Republic, and so did all my friends. I found that the people we came across were either pushy or rude. Then I am told by another passenger that all the nice places were on the other side of the island. We paid 40 dollars per couple for a 45 minute ride to nowhere. I loved the other three islands, especially Aruba, since that it my favorite anyway. I used to like Carnival, but I really don't think we will be sailing with them in the future, we are planning our next one right now, to try and make up for this one, and the entertainment wasn't good, and neither was the constant run of the same movies all week on the television. We could have overlooked all of that if the food had been good, but it wasn't so, thats it.

January cruise by Ankrus

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The performances wasn't for all, too similar and the same genre. No variations of the performances.

The Sapphire dining room was mediocre, the waiters were excellent though, very friendly and serviceminded.

We didn't find the interior to be attractive.

Food was good.

Too many kids in both pools and (fat) people so we could't go in there. Been to other cruises where there was a pool only for adults.

Room service - Excellent - and cabins.

As a Swede we think it unappetizingly when people "overload" their plates with excessive amounts of food and throw half it away.

Overall it was a good cruise and we are satisfied.

This was a great cruise.  Nice new ship.  Incredible shows, food and state rooms.  Service was first class all the way.  The spa was very luxurious and well worth the VIP memebship.  I will take this ship anywhere it goes.

Title is now shared with Mexican cruise for the worst by sdborn

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The ship creaked ALL night, keeping us awake.  We had a balcony which might have made a difference, but sleeping was difficult.  The food was average at best.  They ran out of Budwiser with 2 full sea days to go.  I have never had a problem with any of the staff, but was snapped at twice, once at the bar and once at the restaurant (and they were not even open).

The staff that cleaned the cabin were great and so was the staff that delivered coffee in the morning.

Now that Carnival is not going to Europe, and after sailing with them 6 times with them, I think that this will be my last Carnival cruise.

THE BEAUTIFUL AN ELEGANTLY SIMPLE INTERIOUR WAS SHOWING A NEW AND UPSCALE  DECORATING. THE FOOD WAS GOOD AND ONLY TOO BIG  PORTIONS FOR MY TASTE. THE SHOWS WERE GREAT BUT SHOTER THEN BEFORE ON MY EARLIER CRUISES.

THE STAFF FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL, SPECIALLY CHULEKORN IN THE "YOUR TIME"  DININGROOM  (654-660),

SICERELY, ANNE-MARIE GUDGIN    VIFP#0099821475   Have recommended this to many, as it was the best of my 15 cruises

Carnival Breeze 12/15-21 by Tisseel

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean

The Breeze is a nice ship but I wasn't overly impressed with it. The Waterworks were a nice touch, but other kids areas such as miniature golf seemed pieced together without much thought about flow. This is a minor complaint, but kind of led the meh feeling throughout the cruise. The entertainment shows were fun, the bars were good, and the prices on the ship were all reasonable for the most part.

The staff is amazing, never have a complaint about them.

The only other thing that disappointed me was that the food was mediocre at best. I understand there will be a loss in quality when cooking for so many people, but the blandness and lack of flavor, especially in the desserts was noticeable.

A great ship by KevandJotimes2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean

The crew was excellent. The food was amazing and the activities were fabulous. There was so much to do and see that I felt like I was going to miss something. The water slides, mini golf and the ropes course kept our kids busy all day. They had the best time going back and forth between all of them (OK, I liked them, too). With two sea days they had plenty to keep them (ages 11 and 13) busy the whole time.

The food was great with options changing often. The Blue Iguana burrito bar was incredible and the Taste Station is a "must do". Guy's Burger Joint was just as good as all of the reviews say it is.
