The Food and Shows was horrible also be careful with the slippery floor in the Market Place! by anabencomo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We cruise every year and unfortunately we were not impressed by the Carnival Breeze at all!.  We had high expectations of the trip considering the fact that the ship is relatively new but we were very disappointed.  We traveled with 2 other couples and they felt the same way.   Among many cruises we have taken in the past, we have done 3 day voyages and the quality of their food was by far better than this 8 day cruise.

Our waiter James was exceptional and served us very well but the Food was horrible!  His two assitants were also not good which made James job much harder so we appreciate his efforts.

The shows were boring and mediocre to say the Least!

Lastly, I fell almost 4 times in the Market Place where they serve breakfast and lunch because the floor is Super slippery!!!!  I am a healthy fit 46 year woman can't imagine the older passengers when they walked on that floor.  I am sure they have had many reported falls.

We usually prefer Carnival over Royal Caribbean but this trip was a true disappointment!

Breeze May 10-18 2014 - fantastic! by Jeffatpas

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

First time on Dream class ship. Didn't know what to expect and there were some surprises. In general all was typical Carnival. Clean ship, friendly staff, good food, excellent balcony cabin 6287, great ports (at least those that I got off at). Casino staff was adept at taking my money with a smile ;-). The surprise was that I had expected lines and other crowding on this bigger ship based on reviews from others. Really found none of that and might have been based on less than full passenger load. Was never able to find out how full the ship really was. The ocean plaza concept is interesting but seemed totally underutilized. Not often there was anyone there along with the indoor portion of red frog pub. Seemed like a waste of space. Maybe ok on inclement days which are not many in the Caribbean. Overall I would recommend the ship and would go back.

Carnival is a contender... by tc5252

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I was hesitant to try a Carnival cruise but was encouraged by a family member to try this newer ship, The Breeze.  I'm glad I did.  Although the new ship designs do not cater to the types of lounges and entertainment that an older adult is looking for, we were able to get past that and have a very good time.  The service was impeccable, and our cabin (a cove balcony cabin on Deck 2) was roomy, clean and well maintained.  The food was good, and the service in the dining room was excellent (after we asked to be reseated from a very undesirable location).  I would recommend this ship to families as there are a lot of activities.  However, there were still plenty of quiet places to curl up in the sun with a good book.  Overall, a very nice cruise at a good value!

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Food in main dinning was luke warm at best .Only ate in dinning room 2 times. Waiters were very good but did not ask us what we wanted to drink for dinner, had to tell them ourselves. Entertainment in theater was so loud it hurt your ears. Comedians in lounge were very funny. We went to the shows most nights they had a show.

Fun cruise with great service and friendly staff! by naturalfoods4li

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our first cruise, and we loved it!  The boat was nice and the service was friendly.  Everytime we walked down the hallway we were greeted with "Good morning!" or "Have fun!"  Our evening dining room service at the "Blush" restaurant was excellent with Adrian, Grace and Iwayan (sp?).  We would barely finish one item when the next was placed before us!  Morning service at the same restaurant wasn't quite as friendly or speedy, but the food was great.  Our stops at Key West, Grand Cayman and Cozumel were all pretty awesome.  Parasailing in Key West was a blast.  The dolphin watch was okay, and it ended with snorkeling at the small reef, which has uncolorful, small fish, and I wouldn't recommend that.  Sting Ray City was our favorite and Grand Cayman snorkeling was very awesome!  Lots of fish and colors.  Cozumel waters ranged from sapphire blue to turquoise and the snorkel tour was deep, so less color, but still pretty cool.  The ship was clean, the service was quick and friendly.  We loved the towel creations left every day on our freshly made bed (made TWICE a day if needed!).  They left little chocolates too, which was a nice touch, but they were a bit waxy. New towels were plentiful.  The shows were so-so, but still filled the time on sea days.  Tandoor restaurant was delicious if you like food from India.  Guys burgers were pretty good.  The buffet always had a lot of options.  Our favorite food was in the dining room though...and you could order as much as you wanted to.  I gained 6 pounds (but lost it in a week...so it was totally worth it!).  The servers actually sing songs to you and once even got on small table tops to dance to "Gangnam Style".  It was pretty funny!  You are seated with others you don't know, and we enjoyed getting to know 2 other couples. We never went to clubs, casinos or bars, since that isn't our thing, but the bars were very pretty with lights and nice colors.  The "Dive-in" movie was kind of unique and fun.  If you didn't want to watch outside, they played the same movies on your TV.  We played miniature gold and bean bag toss, which were fun to pass the time on the final sea day.  Our sailing was quite smooth and we didn't suffer with any sea-sickness.  The final sea day was quite windy though, which made some people sick, which was pretty stinky down the hall when they were cleaning the carpets in a room where someone had been sick...thankfully not close to our room.  We were in room 7389, which was pretty quiet, unless you were out on the balcony.  We had loud neighbors on one side and smokers who polluted the air even outside.  Balcony rooms are permitted to smoke on the balcony, so if you are allergic, you may not appreciate that.  It kind of ruins the whole "fresh sea air" thing!  Maybe they should create a smoking place at the back of the boat, so non-smokers don't have to inhale second hand smoke.  Anyway, they are always having photo ops to take your picture, which will cost you, but could be fun if you get some nice shots.  Ours didn't turn out great, which wasn't there fault though.  The weight room is nice, but no fan!  I could only stand it once.  Fans would be easy to install...or just plug in.  We never took advantage of massages, so I can't tell you about that.  I'm sure it is heavenly!  We cruised in May, so it wasn't booked solid.  There never seemed to be a problem getting into entertainment for us.  We had early dinner, and that may have helped.  The Hasbro Game was kind of fun.  The welcome show too.  The juggling act was just so-so.  One nice thing would have been if they would have planned the fancy dinner nights (2) on the same days as sea days.  It would have made it less rushed to get ready.  Maybe it was because it was a 6 day cruise instead of 7?  I'm not sure.  The balcony rooms are spacious enough.  The bathroom is a bit small and the shower is hard to shave legs in, but at least they are private.  We made do.  The toilet will suck your arm down it despite it's tiny hole! haha! The TV is personalized for you and you can use it to get a lot of information.  There is also a seated area with a light up mirror that can be used for makeup and a blow dryer in the drawer.  Two robes are there for your use as well, which was nice.  There is plenty of room for your luggage.  Ours was pretty big luggage (over 29") and one didn't quite allow the cupboard to close, so we left it in the room, which was fine.  No one had their hand out for extra tips for room service or any other service, which was nice.  No guilt!  Tips can be paid in advance, which is what we did and we loved that.  If you don't like the service you can let them know before leaving the boat though, and get a reduction in tips from your bill.  There is a little convenience store on board, but VERY pricey!  We didn't need the shuttle service, which costs, because Alamo in Miami will shuttle you free to the boat.  We flew into Ft. Lauderdale the night before and drove to Miami (less than an hour) and saved a lot on our flight.  The car was only $25 and the shuttle to the pier from Alamo was free.  On the way back, the car was about $55 or so.  Same free shuttle picks you up right at the dock though.  We tipped a dollar a bag.  Overall, we loved our first cruise with Carnival and we would do it again!

Not So Breezy! by Oceanaddict7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Let me start by saying we have sailed on Carnival many times! and have always had a great time and loved the food! Here is out honest review!

The ship: It was nice as expected! You hardly noticed so many people on board, had to hand it to them on the layout of the ship! all the public areas were kept clean!

The Food: We lived on Guys Burgers and Pizza! We normally do not eat that sort of thing but it was the only tasteful food onboard! We quit eating in the dining room and then they served the exact same thing at the SMALL dinner buffet EVERY SINGLE night! the steak tasted like dried out dog food! which was odd all there other ships it was great! "We have never disliked Carnivals food" this was a big let down!

FYI: Every cruise we have been on when we leave MEXICO there is a Mexican buffet! We asked where this would be held on the ship as we usually do they told us Lido at 11pm we got there they only serve CHIPS AND SALSA!!! Really??? we had not eaten! pizza again!!

The staff: They were all very friendly and ready to help! besides some of the workers in the buffet area who had to cook the omlets and stir fry! They always seemed upset or mad every day! they never smiled once!

Problems: We had a problem with the AC in our room it was addressed right away!

Worth Mentioning: Our room steward was AWESOME!

The entertainment: The female who performed in the comedy show was AWESOME! all the others not so great!

The show in the theater:  I was in shock by the lack of talent in there the female singing was so off pitch and singing way behind the beat.. "I'm a singer myself which is why maybe I noticed it" couldnt really stand to listen so we left.

There was however a lady singing and playing a guitar in the atruim! She was great and had alot of talent!

This ship was PARTY PARTY which is okay if your into that sort of thing! It became over excessive at times, like the ladys with the thongs parading for miss carnival breeze in front of children! I didn't have children with me, but if I had that would not be a message I would want to send my daughter or son! there were kids all out on lido for the deck partys till late with some drunk adults dancing all on each other I didnt find that appropriate either for kids! I understand everyone wants to have a good time! I do myself! but tastfully! ;) this in my opinion was like a spring break party directed by Carnival!

I would'nt reccommend this ship unless you want to eat burgers and pizza all week "which was really good by the way"!  Also would'nt recommend if you have children! unless you want them at a spring break party!

The ports were fantastic as always!

This boat rocked more then any other Carnival ship I have ever been on! even in small swells this ship was rocking! if your prone to sea sickness STAY CLEAR of the Breeze! "I have never got sick and I got sick this time!

The End: They should refund some of my money for starving for 6 days. I actually lost weight on this cruise!

Not what Carnival used to be.... by joodlan1956

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The ship was beautiful...staff was extremely kind and courteous.

My stateroom was immaculate every day....waiters in the Blush dining room were wonderful.

Had an aft balcony, very very noisy at night.

The food left much to be desired.  Steaks were very poor quality meat...very tough.  They tend to reuse the prior nights meat in a different preparation. Some meals were good, others not.

Guy's Burger Joint was fantastic! I ate there most afternoons because lines were much too long at Mongolian Wok...Barbecue. For lunch it was either pizza or a burger, unless you want to wait 20 minutes in line.

I had the late dinner seating....not coordinated with the shows in the evening...you had to eat and run.  Shows were great but way too short.

Dominica needs to be off of one of the ports, unless you want to pay money to escape the filthy port you pull into. I didn't get off the ship here....no where to go. Very disappointing.

I have only sailed with Carnival (7 cruises)...but I feel they are cutting costs at the passengers expense. They're just not what they used to be.

Unsure if I will use them again.....

poor rating on food and time of entertainments by carolbutterfly

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

who ever heard of losing weight on a cruise -- the food was terrible, served barely warm and usually cold with the meat not thoroughly done and the vegetables raw  --- the entertainment shows was scheduled too close so could not eat at early dining and make the shows and then had to wait several hours to see the next one...........  the announcements for disembarkment was not helpful as too far apart and no updates so everyone disregarded the "number" they was given and Jammed the waiting area -- took twice as long to get off............   could never "catch" tour director in to get refund on purchased liqor as found cheaper on land than on ship...........

Not that amazing.... by sjmelvin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

It was okay but nothing amazing and the ship, whilst new, was styled in the same old Carnival layout. Nothing mind-blowing. It was CARINVAL FUN, however, for the most part the trip was mediocre. The Junior Suite was small as well and not like the staterooms on the mega ships.

Awesome by FamilyCarnival

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Western

a great experience, the ship is new with a lot of updated ideas on board;

the decor is contemporary, the water slides are awesome! the food is great, we had an early seating and we loved it this time! perfect timing for everything; make sure you watch the announcements for the times of the open venues, activiities, and shows; def book your shore excursions before you leave because they do sell out fast when you are on board do not wait until you are on board!

Dave's Review by dshaw91

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Ship facilities, food and service were very good, but was greatly dsiappointed with the entertainment. It was geared to a much younger generation.

The 8 young people that were the heart of the entertainment group appeared to have little talent and experience, and the sets and scenery consisted primarily of Flashing lights and filmed background. The music in all the presentation was very similar, very loud and noisy

All 8 of the people at our table expressed the same feeling about the entertainment. Two of the solo acts were very low quality, with minimum talent and entertainment value. These acts did not compare with similar acts viewed on other cruise lines ( Costa, Celebrity, and Royal Caribbean). All at our table felt there was a minimal flow of information, especially from the cruise director.

Parking experience at the Port of Miami was huge hassel taking us over an hour to get a parking space after being directed to 4 different parking garages.

Had the best time ever except for Jamaica by tattoomyninja

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The Breeze is the best ship I have been on so far.  15 Cruises and counting. Great staff, activities and food.  This ship has more food choices available than any other Carnival ship I have been on.  Now for Jamaica,  I have been there several times to be able to go to other ports that I have not visited.  The people there are very rude but always have there hand out for a dollar.  This past trip our tour guide was complaining that it took 134 of their dollars to make one American dollar.  Not seeing that it is Visitors that help keep Jamaica afloat.  They refused to stamp my passport, it took longer to sit back in a chair and complain about having to stamp it than it would have been to stamp it. Next time I go to the island, I will not give them a dime but visit an American run hotel and give them my money to sit by the pool.

The cruise is what YOU make it! by vstruchtemeyer

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

First and foremost, the ship is beautiful and very clean!!  The ports of call were everything that I hoped they would be, just wish that we could have stayed longer but isn't that they way it is with most cruiss.  My Stateroom attendents were wonderful, everything I asked for was taken care of.   The Captain was a very personable man, as was the Matradee (Blush) and our dining room servers.  Shortly after getting into our cabin, we received a notice that our table seating was changed.  We prefer a large table and asked for one, I went down to Customer Service and thought I had it straightened out, ony to find that I did not, once we were seated at out original table.  Come to find out it was a wedding party that needed our seats, it would have been nice to have been informed of this at the BEGINNING and maybe ASKED if we would mind moving.  Instead, we were BULLIED out of our seat by the Restaurant Supervior Marchin, it was embarrassing.  I will say that, we loved who we ended up seating with at the next table!!! Next, for being on Carnival's Flag Ship, I expected the Cruise Director and his assistant to be top notch.  Very Disappointing!!!  This is cruise number 17 for us, not all with Carnival.  I do feel that I know waht to expect, so if you take this trip to be entertained you will have to make that happen yourself.  Once you do that you will not be disappointed because the food and ship itself was wonderful.

Great Ports by TTower77

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

My daughter and I choose this cruise for the ports is was visiting as we have taken 3 other cruises

and have visited many caribbean ports. This ship visited Grand Turks, Dominican Republic (La Romana), Curacao and Aruba.  Grand Turks is a very small island (about 7 sq miles) but we had a good time on the island and the tour guide provided us a great stay. La Romana is a very poor port, most people on the boat stayed less than 2 hours on the island. La Romana does not have a lot to do and we didn't feel that safe in the city. Curacao  was a very good island to visit and we really enjoyed the tour of the island. The best island to visit on this tour was Aruba. This is a very upscale island with a very good economy with many things to do. If you are taking tours of the islands you visit, do not waste your money paying the inflated costs of Carnival (similar on all ships) for a tour of the island. Just catch a tour at the port when you leave the ship. This way you can decide when you want to leave the boat and the cost of the tour is about 60% cheaper, you see the same things on the island as we saw the offical tour buses at all of our stops. However if you want to take a special excursion like ATV, submarine, scuba diving, etc, I would recommend that you book through your ship as these are special tours and few ports freely offer these excursions without being booked on the ship.

The Breeze is not a big ship when comparing to some of the ships we have traveled with on Royal Caribbean but is th ebiggest ship in the Carnival fleet. The boat size effects the number of things they can provide. Th eonly entertainment worth entering on the boat was the George Lopez Comedy Club. There are four shows each night and they were all packed becuase there is so little quality adult entertainment on the ship. The casino was always packed each night as that was the one source of entertainment. However, in eight days many people paid a big price for this "entertainment".Other shows that were good was one hypnotis show and one movie night on the Lido deck. The other shows in the big theatre were usuallt scheduled during first dinner and most of the movies on the Lido deck were not very interesting to me.

The food on the ship varied greatly. The best deal on the ship was the nightly assigned dining food and we were lucky to get a great table full of fun people abd we also had a great waiter. The food on the ship was only average compared to RC and Celebrity but was the best on the ship we ate. The other food on the boat varied. The Italian restaurant on the ship that charges an extra $12 per person was good but not great. But the service was 5*. The food on th eLido deck was good enough to eat but was nothing special except for the "Guy's hamburger" and the "Deli". Guy's hamburger was really great but hardly healthy but what the heck, we were on a  cruise.

Th eone thing on Carnival better than RC was the interior cabins, they are significantly bigger and better, especially the shower size and bathroom. The beds were very comfortable, almost to comfortable as we struggled to leave th ebeds in th emorning as we sleep so well!

I have taken cruises on three cruise lines and would rate Carnival as the third best cruise line after RC and Celebrity. If RC would cruise to some better ports we will take them in the future, otherwise we will keep looking for a cruise line as good as them.

loved the Breeze by justcru20263914

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean

Had loads of fun on this ship the entertaiment was great, realy enjoyed the piano bar at night. The staff in our dinning room was realy great we were a party of 8 and the first night we did not all get our drinks at the same time some did not get until meal was over,  but the rest of the week the dinning room staff went above and beyond, our waiter was amazing funny and entertaining.our cleaning staff for our room was wonderful we had a balcony room would not go any other way.my only complaint ok maybe 2, was breakfast did not like the set up at all not enough station everything was in the same line if you wanted just fruit you felt bad if you jump in line just to grab fruit they had the eggs, cereal, yogurt bacon ex,ex, mostly all together. other cruise line we have been on they had lots of stations fruit bar salad bar egg, bacon.potatoes  ex,ex,ex sapparated so if you wanted something in particular  you just got it,just a thought. also to get drinks, staff on deck took a long time to get a drink was faster just to get up and get it your self.but overall experience would do a carnival cruise again
