Good ship, and large enough but not crowded at all. Struggled to find correct dining rooms.

The Caribbean Princess is a great ship. It is one of the largest in the Princess fleet and it offers a lot of ammenities. We really liked Movie Under the Stars and the specialty dining restaurant-Sterling Steakhouse.

Best Deal in Cruising! by BenjaminG

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

My wife and I sailed on November 5 from Port Everglades on the Carribean Princess. for those of you that drive to the port, it is just off Florida's Turnpike, very convenient on and off the highway. The port itself is easily found with little blue "ship" signs pointing you to your destination. Port everglades has excellent security in that you must show your cruise tickets and I.D. just to enter past the main gate. immediately I felt at ease knowin our new truck would be sitting in their parking garage for a week. Parking is $12.00/day. No security patrol there, but a reasonable sherriff's dept. presence. We arrived at the port and walked a short distance to the elevator down to the main level, accross one road and directly on to the embarkation building ramp. very speedy and easy access. those wanting even easier access can drop off their luggage curbside, where a porter will eagerly accept $1.00 per bag at your discretion, and then continue on to the parking garage. We waited approximately one-half hour from the time we arrived at the ramp until the doors opened to accept us. Another twenty-five minute wait did not seem unreasonable as we were probably 800th in line. Princess does a good job of routing cruisers to the proper staging area, and within 15 minutes of entering the building we were up the ramp and on the Ship. Pacific Princess is 952 ft long and 18 levels of cruising heaven. We were escorted to our stateroom on Caribe level 10 and opened the door to c406 to find a reasonably sized stateroom and huge balcony (approx 8'x8'). We noticed that not all levels shared this balcony size, so Caribe is a good choice if presented with the option. The ship departed Ft. Lauderdale promptly at 5:00PM and we followed one ship out of the mouth of the port and led out another. (busy day) Time for a quick tour of the ship: (at this point in most seasoned cruisers first hour on the ship, it is a mad dash to the excursion desk. Not so for us with Princess.com online excursion reservations.) we found our way to 15th level where we found three pools, several hot-tubs, two large buffets(already in full swing) and The Princess exclusive "Movies under the Stars" an enormous 10x30 LED movie screen above the center pool. It should be called "Movies all The Time" as most days there was some form of entertainment playing as early as 8:00 AM for kids, progressing throughout the day with screenings of live concert classics and family movies with later screenings leaning more toward PG-13 type flicks. One can see the screen in the direct sunlight with no problems-very impressive indeed! Two rather rough days at sea found a few passengers, including my wife, a little queasy. A word to the sea-sick prone: most cruise lines no longer offer the "patch" as it has 24-72 hr side effects for some. If you are concerned-see a doctor before you leave on your cruise. They do sell dramamine at the ship's store, but that leaves most drowsy. My wife toook meclazine and it fixed her right up. First stop: St. Martin (St. Maarten) WOW! A new-looking pier held three very large ships including Royal's Navigator and Carnival's Triumph along with what appeared to be a 10 million dollar yacht named Sunshine with room to spare. St. Martin is well thought out as virtually everything is within a few minutes walk. Shopping is superb, the beach is gorgeous, the water is brilliant emerald and in my opinion the best shore excursion anywhere is right here: Americas Cup 12 metre challenge. Wow, you must try it! Next Day is St. Thomas, USVI. Not a nice as St. Martin, but well wort the visit, some of the best jewelry prices around, and Magan's Bay Beach makes it all worth it. Another day at sea, on to beautiful Princess Cay for another day on the beach and home the next day for a perfect 7 day cruise!

Great Cruise/Bad Service by RobertD20

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was our 2nd family & friends cruise and the overall experiance was great!! However, the dining room staff was not accomadating or understanding. On the last formal night, 14 of us dressed in formal attire had pictures takenand then went to diner. We went to the Coral dining room. When we arrived we were told it would take about 15 min. to seat all of us together. After waiting almost 20 min. we were led into the dining room and were seated at 3 different tables, next to each other. That was ok. But shortly after being seated, we were told that 2 tables would have to be moved. At that point we were seperated. In order not to make a sceen and create a bad situation for the other people in the dining room, we complied. We complained to the manager of the dining room to no avail. This my be our last cruise on the Caribbean Princess. That is a shame because up to that point we were having one of the best family reunions ever. The rest of the ships company were just fabulous....

Our First Cruise by JaneD6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was our first cruise and it exceeded our expectations. The stateroom was comfortable, roomy and clean. We loved having a balcony and the views of the ocean sunsets. Our ships offered anytime dining which we found great because we were not locked into specific seating times, and were also able to dine with different people each time, which was fun. The Horizon Court and Cafe Carribe buffets had a generous variety of delicious food with different themes each night. We also loved the movies under the stars, and the variety of evening shows. The ship offered so many great activities and choices for nightlife we couldn't do it all! The cabin steward and in fact the entire crew treated us like royalty. We cant wait to sail Princess again!

a great vacation by LindaE5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

the ship was beautiful and this is my tenth cruise. first time on princess.i was impressed by the cabins except the bathrooms were alittle small, balcony was beautiful. the food was very good and you could eat 24-7 unlike other ships i have been on. lots of activities throughout the ship. great new years party one of the nights. one big difference than other ships - there is always something going on all hours! we were anytime dining and we never had to wait and always got a table for two but we did go early around 5:30. the ports were wonderful. st, martaan was wonderful. we went on shore excursion to the french side to a beach it was beautiful and well organized, we used the new express checkout and were off the ship by 8:30. overall experience excellent.

Cruise of a lifetime by RebeccaF3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship was outstanding. There was not enough time in the week to fully experience everything it had to offer. Upon returning home you want to cruise on the Caribbean Princess again just to find those missed treasures.

One of our better cruises. by TimothyE1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was our twenty-fifth cruise and one of our best. From the most outstanding features of food variety, quality and quantity, overall staff friendliness and the abundant use of marble and wood made this ship one of the most beautiful we have sailed. The showroom entertainment was lacking and left a lot to be desired.

A Big Ship by GrahamP

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our first cruise on Princess ships. Larger ship that we usually use but we chose it because there were reasonably priced handicapped cabins with balconies - unusual in our experience, Cabin was excellent and cabin steward was very good. Traditional dining was full so we had to take open dining. Not as good. Too much waiting between courses and the waiters were often distracted by the varied needs at tables in different stages of eating. Checkin at the Port was bad. We were directed to a table for handicapped but after a long wait at the table a checkin person walking by told us the table was no longer being manned. Moved to another line with an unnecesssary wait. We filled out a lengthy online form prior to the trip, but the checkin person told us that that information was not available to them and was kept in California. No apparent need or use for the form we filled in and submitted online.

Wife's Anniversary Cruise by WilliamH16

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Overall experience was excellent. Would prefer less crowding on pool decks and breakfast buffets, but still handled well for number of passangers. Port stops seemed a little rushed. Would like longer stops in St. Thomas and St. Martin. If need be, skip Princess Cay, which wasn't that exciting. Beaches were rocky and hard to walk on.

Adequate but certainly exceptional. by BillG11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We have only cruised once prior to this 14 years ago on Royal Caribbean and felt it was terrific. We found our experience on the Caribbean Princess to be adequate but certainly not exceptional. We had expected a Hilton, Hyatt, Westin quality experience but felt this was more Holiday Inn. The constant sales pitches for PCL's sponsored port shops, tables set up in the atrium with jewelry and watches and 3 or 4 portrait centers set up in the atrium created in the words of a veteran cruiser we met a "mercenary" atmosphere. In addition, we do not tolerate cigarette smoking well at all and despite there being designated smoking areas we continually encountered second hand smoke in nonsmoking areas.

Interesting Cruise by HelenaP1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The ship was very nice and had many places to hang out including many pool areas to choose from. What was disturbing was the fact that there were so many lounges and bars with the same type of music. Too much smoking, no entertainment for latinos, tacky saloon events, less than avareage singers and dancers. I would not cruise with princess if I take my teenage and 20 yr old children. I found the night life boring. Casino was 21 and over and was totally dead by 1 am. I feel they are losing the interest of their guests due to the boring night life. After the shows you were so tired of walking around looking for something to do that we would end up in bed.

Cruising the Islands by DonnaA2

Easy on and odd the ship- both at the beginning and end of the cruise, and in ports. Lots to do on the ship- particularly liked the "movies under the stars" which was something we hadn't experienced before.

great vacation by MichelleZ2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I think the ship was keep clean, there was alot to do if you were interested and the shore excursions went off without a hitch ( that I saw). I liked that you had an option of dining rooms and time slots even though we picked 8pm at the Palm. I loved this smaller dining room-not as much hustle and bustle as other dining rooms I have eaten in.
