Our First Cruise by elforbes07

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

WOW! AWESOME! FANTASTIC!

Just a few words to express what a great time we had on our very first cruise!  Princess was the best!

We had a wonderful crew, we met lots of people and made some new friends.  The food and service was excellent!  There was lots of fun entertainment, shows, shopping and excursion to choose from.

We spent a lot of time at the art auction and saw some beautiful pieces of art. Lots of laughs at the "Egg Drop" event for kids and families.

As I review my pictures from the cruise, I want to go cruise again and again!

We will be back!

A Lovely Family Cruise by Skelly69400870

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our son and his wife, 11 year old daughter, and 6 year old son accompanied us, grandma and grandpa, on this Western Caribbean cruise.  It was a new experience for them and they really enjoyed the snorkelling excursions and  onboard activities.  I am a well seasoned cruiser with limited mobility and would have appreciated some adult only pool time, some assistance securing on deck seating for the movies under the stars and other acitivites there.   I was very disappointed in the ever increasing emphasis on shopping, especially on shore in Belize.  How about setting up some information booths about the history of the islands onshore.  I also would have enjoyed some onboard lectures about the ports of call.  The ship's crew and staff were always friendly and accommodating.  All in all a great cruise.

I took a friend on this cruise and we had a great time.

Everyone was wonderful and everything was great.  Weather was even cooperative.

I would recommend this trip to anyone and would repeat it again.

Actually I did the exact cruise and ship in January and repeated it again less then 3 months later

Wonderful Trip! by tleepreston

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had a great time on our trip on the Caribbean Princess.  We had a wonderful waiter (Alex), fantastic cabin purser (Angelo), relaxing massages and treatments at the Spa (Sheril),  great tour guides on our excursions and super stage shows.  Food was delicious, activities on ship were fun and exciting.  Pools and deck time was so relaxing.  I even did my first 5K for Susan G. Komen!  All in all it was a great trip and we are planning another cruise.  Thanks for everything!

Princess cruise by chucksladek

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The overall cruise was very good. The food was some of the best we have had aboard any cruiseliner and was highlighted by the freshness and preparation. The ports were only average, especialy since we have been to Cozumel a number of times. The weather turned out OK with a couple of rain days. I definitely would recommend this cruise to anyone who has not traveled to the destinitions before. Leaving from Houston was extremely easy and our arrival and departure were seemless.

This was my first time on the Princess Cruise line. I was very impressed. The food was great, the staff were wonderful. I will definitely be looking at other cruises with Princess. Thank you for a wonderful week. I thought the movie screen was genius! I have cruised 3 other lines and none compare to this one.

Family outing by wesbell

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Ship too big, library too small. We only took this so our family could join us, which is why we sailed out of Houston, they could drive there, and we had to go this week because it was spring break for our grandson in school. Otherwise, we choose smaller ships, more adult activites.

fantastic cruise. everything we had hoped for. by pswanda

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Nicole Peterson from was wonderful in assisting us in the planning of our vacation.  I will definitely use this company again for our next cruise. We had a great time. Shore excursions were booked with Shoreexcursionsgroup.com.  Every thing was well planned, and everything ran smoothly. The guides were very knowledgeable and accommodating, and a lot of fun. We thoroughly enjoyed snorkeling in Cozumel, and  the island tour, monkey zoo and iguana farm on Roatan. It is absolutely breathtaking there.  The local people were wonderful. Belize was an unspoiled paradise, and we loved the tour, and the Mayan Ruins. The people of Belize were warm and welcoming, and we purchased some of the locally made wares.

The staff of the Caribbean Princess treated us like we were royalty, and they could not do enough for us. We will definitely cruise with Princess again.

Laid Back by belliott03

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our first time on Princess. I liked that people weren't "in your face" pushing drinks. Easy to find if you wanted one, but not constantly all over you. Sort of missed the "party atmosphere" that is immediate when boarding some other lines. Princess didn't start the party until after the safety briefing. Probably sensible - but I still missed the band on deck. We took shore excursions in each port and I was very happy that the tour operators did not make extra stops for the sole purposes of selling you tacky souvenirs or drinks, which has been the case when we've been on other cruise lines. The food was good, service was unobtrusive, although I'd say the room stewards might have been a bit overzealous. (Not everything that looks like trash actually is trash.) I noticed the lack of cutely folded towels, but I didn't miss it. The chocolates were still there. I expected the walking/jogging track to be on the sports deck but it wasn't. I didn't like that it had stairs. Small problem. We'll cruise with Princess again.

Great Time but ship needs some overhauling by love2cruize

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had a wonderful time, the staff was excellent and extremely attentive -- they seemed to know what we needed before we knew that we needed it. They all went above and beyond our expectations. The food was excellent. Entertainment was very good, but limited in space (small stage), so no big productions. The balcony cabin is a bit small, but the closet is huge -- more than enough room

The only problems we noticed: 1) The safe is exceptionally small; 2) There are many visible rust spots (rather disconcerting, but no problems); 3) The Xunantunich Mayan Ruins tour filled up way too soon; don't know if Princess can do anything about this other than to pressure them to add more tours: Many people were waitlisted and some couldn't even get on the waitlist. We  couldn't even find a local tour to visit this place. At the least, Princess should tell passengers to sign up for this excursion early as it fills up quickly.

Wonderful time from beginning to end by Nan2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The food was great as was the service.  VIP treatment from the time we arrived.  I recommend cruising out of Houston any time.  The special dinner and service for our 50th wedding anniversary was first class.  This was our balcony view.

First Time on a Cruise by AlaskaCruisers2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was the first cruise my wife and I have taken and we were very impressed.  After taking with others it seems Princess is one of the better cruise lines to sail with.  Will most likely do it again.

Carribbean Princess - Disappointment by want2wander

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Carribbean Princess cruise stared on wrong track with virus out break and fog delay.

Understanding all that, there were many issues with this cruise especiaaly poor quality of the food served at dinner.

We had an excellent dinner in the Crown restaurant while having to send back meat in the main dining room.

One should be pay $25 daily to get a good dinner in the evening.

The ship had over 3100 passengers and there were lines everywhere- for buffets; shows and any time dining to name a few.

The cabins were smaller than other cruise lines we have sailed with.

We enjoyed the fellow passengers we met as well as the entertainment. The ports were fine also.

Princess various  charges and policies ere very annoying and we will choose a cruise where many of the annoying fees are included.

I do realize we had a very late start and there may have been more crew ill than they chose to reveal- the quality of the meats served were very poor and disappointing.

We waited 15 years to sail Princess again(excellent Alaska cruise)  and will have no plans for future Princess cruises.

huury up and wait by oldiebutgoodie

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Well, it didn't look good in the beginning. We finally set sail around five hours late. Embarking was smooth and painless. Once under way we were informed we would steam to Roatan and then come back to Belize and Coz. This was a very good plan and it gave us max time at each stop.

It was obvious the crew was taking extraordinary care in protecting our health. This slowed down the food on the Lido but it was worth it. The young lady who cared for our room was impeccable. Our wait staff was also above reproach. The food in the dining room Palm was extremely well prepared and the selection each night was mind wrenching. So many goodies so little time. The Maitre d's singing was most enjoyable.   All in all the cruise portion of the trip was deligtfull. We will not hesitate to cruise with you again.

Now  a couple suggestions. Roatan sucks. I can't say any more. Belize and Coz was very nice. Even the tender ride was as painless as it could be.

Since we were on heighten alert for Narvo we all were interested in the instruction from the bridge. I am 75 and like most of the passengers our age it is difficult to hear. The Captains remarks and instuctions were unintelligible. Although his command of english may be very good his thick accent on a noisy ship didn't work. We had to get an interpretation from a crew member. Suggest when you have instructions of a medical nature you let the head of the medical team make them and let a junior officer make all others.

Otherwise we returned home safe and sound. Disembarked easily with minimum delays. As I said we will probable go along for the ride with you again.

Thank You

Cruise ship needs updates and a different port with no delays. by joycelauber

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We were disappointed with the ship overall.  It truly needs updating.  Also the biggest problem was the delay bording in Houston.  The fog caused the ship to be delayed coming into port, which happens regularly at this new Houston Pier.  Very unorganized,  we borded around 5 or 6:00 pm  We did not leave port til 11:00pm  Dinner was interupted by the safety drill   It was a terrible day.  Our ports of call were switched around because of the delay   Also they had the virus  aboard the ship on the previous cruise.  We also had people getting sick all through the cruise.  They were really trying to sanitize everything.  I think because of all the extra people needed in the buffet line to serve everyone all service on the ship was hampered.  They did their best, but it was different from any cruise I have ever been on.  I would never go out of the Houston Port again.  I have been on several different cruise lines and I have to say I was not impressed with Princess this time.  I have cruised 3 times with them and this was so different.  Sorry just being truthful

Overall a very nice 7 day cruise by Chelveston

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

After the unfortunate delay boarding the ship at the Port of Houston, we began a very nice cruise.  The crew were all great people providing excellent service.  Entertainment was enjoyable.  We did the anytime dining which turned out to be best, good food, good seating, and great service.  We liked the buffet although it is organized much differently from the other cruises we have been on, meaning you do not simply go to the various dish counters and serve yourself, only a server can give you anything, even a bread roll.  No trays for your dishes, but who cares, worked out OK anyway, like on Norwegian ships.  Ports are at very backward 3rd world countries, but can be fun and the weather was nice, mostly.  We were somewhat unerved on a van excursion when the driver stopped at a remote gas station/store.  Two men with slinged shotguns were apparently doing a kind of security watch.  Just keeping the store secure I guess.  Belize, we road in a van for about 45 minutes or more over a very rough road to see some Mayan ruins.  Then it rained...  Depending on your interests, check tours, places, what is offered before you go off the ship.  Some just walking around the local town is OK as in Cozumel.  Once is good enough, fun on the ship.

Try another cruise line! by Karenak

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Not sure if the staff is overworked, but most of them seemed unhappy to be there.  We were unble to go to Roatan due to weather, but I think they may have this problem more often then not. Thought the entertainment was lacking. Really the only plus was the dinners(food) the waiters were just making sure you got feed and were on you way. Our room was ok and kept well. I probably would try another cruise line next time.

Disappointed ! by TexCruisers

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I guess you can say you have no control over the weather and we understand those situations,  but we didn't think the food was as good as other cruise lines, the ship was older ,needs some updating, repairs and cleaning . One of 5 elevators was always out of order and not easily accessible for the older passengers or handicapped , the  public restrooms always seem to be under maintence or out of order . Some parts of ship smelled of sewage, left over items from previous cruisers  were left  in stateroom refrigators and on dresser shelves. Nightly shows were not good, poor quality. Unable to go into port one day due to  bad weather, expected to have extra activities on board to make up for the down time . Staterooms  small and balcony very  small and not very private,.  Houston cruise terminal was good, easy to get to and well organized. Will not be cruising with this cruise line again.
