This was our first time away at Christmas and we knew that it would be very different. The cruise itself was brilliant and we thoroughly enjoyed it and the ship was very well decorated. Carols were sung and Santa came on Xmas Eve to give toys to the children. However, it did feel very different as Xmas day was just like another day. As UK passengers, we were definitely in the minority and as the Americans don't celebrate as much as we do and for this holiday, this was felt. To cruise during this holiday was our choice so no issues with all this but we are unlikely to cruise again over Christmas.

Would have liked to have received the medallion prior to boarding as all US passengers did as didn't notice a real difference from the last cruise.

The main dining rooms and specialty restaurants were great. We only used the buffet for breakfast and the odd lunch which were fine but didn't have dinner here so can't fully review.
Onboard Activities

We used the pools and participated in trivia which were our choices. Happy with all we saw and did. Also went to an enrichment lecture which was well attended and very interesting.
Entertainment

The shows we went to were brilliant but would have liked more variety with the onboard acts around the ship. Appreciate over the holidays, there was less chance of extra acts coming on board and the musicians that were there were very good.

Service and Staff

We couldn't fault any of the service staff. Each and every one of them constantly had a smile on their face and a friendly word for everyone. They worked hard the whole time and you never saw anyone stood around doing nothing. They're a credit to Princess and often the reason passengers chose to use this cruise line.
Ship Quality

No issues with the layout and if you had any issues, the medallion and the portals soon helped out. The areas we saw were all clean and working and the public toilets were spotless and well maintained at all times.
Cabin / Stateroom

The cabin was the same as our other cruises on Princess (our only cruise line) which we found to be great. It was plenty large enough for us and we had no issues with storage.
Ship tip
Get to the theatre early for the shows you want to see as they get very busy.
We'd seen too many articles and heard from several friends that this island was not particularly safe so decided not to venture outside the gated area.
We enjoyed this island very much and put it on a par with Curacao. The beach was great and the excursion on the kuku kunuka bus to get there was terrific fun.
