It was a great cruise. We are Elite so we really enjoy the perks...free internet, laundry service to name a few things. I feel Princess have the best of any cruise line.
Trans Atlantic cruises are a very favorite. I love all of the sea days. I LOVE Europe. The ports we visited were so nice. I also loved having two sea days before disembarkation
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We were one of the first couples on the ship who were on the Emerald Deck. There was a slight problem though. I have an artificial hip, so the scanner went off which was unusual. I ended up finally taking off my shes/necklace.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
They repeated so many dishes, and some of the menus there was nothing either of us liked so we went to the buffet and had good food. We did eat in Planks (Barbecue) and Steamers (Seafood) The food was excellent and the $12 cover charge was MUCH more reasonable than the $29 charge for Crown Grill/Sabatini's.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
We are big Trivia game players. We met two other couples so the six of us were a team for the entire cruise
Princess has NO wall climbing, water slides which even if available, I would NOT use.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
For as long as this cruise was, the entertainment was mediocre. The entertainers never put on a second show. I can do without the Princess Singers/Dancers. I don't like them.
Children's Programs
No kids with us.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Our room steward was one of the best we have had. He got us everything we asked for. There were ALWAYS fresh towels etc. every time we turned around. Room Service sucked. I had hurt my knee and called for some ice to ice it with. The female who answered the phone was totally rude. When I complained, the room service manager came up and apologized and brought us a plate of chocolates. We had the BEST cruise director/staff ever.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
THe layout is good. Since this was my 18th Princess cruise, I pretty much know where everything on these ships are.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
This was our seventh time on her and the cabins are in deep need of updating carpets, furnishings, drapes showers. The new bedding, mattress's and pillows are wonderful.
Ship tip
We love Princess, but she is starting to show the wear and tear of so many cruises
We came a day early, so we took the train to Portsmouth home of the British Navel ports. There we toured the HMS Victory (The Battle of Trafalgar...Nelson vs. Napoleon then went on another ship the HMS Warrior circa 1860, and finished going on a submarine. We had a B & B there.
We did a tour. Fir, an old town first we went to Damme, Belgium and walked around, then went to Bruge where we toured a castle (Het Kasteel Von Loppen ) and finished by going to a Belgium Chocolate Factory and of course we bought some,
We did the Northbound TA in April, and went to Paris. The bus ride was 6 hours total, so not much of Paris was seen. This time, we took a taxi (50 Euros per couple to Hon Fleur, France. It was a quaint lovely town. I dearly loved it.
WE just did the Hop on Hop Off Bus. I had hurt my knee and I didn't want to risk walking on it so we stayed on the bus all day and did two different routes.
