Review summary

First cruise for us. Got a bit bored with the sea passages but enjoyed all the fjords and ports of call. Enjoyed the organised trips we went on and equally enjoyed just wandering about the ports and villages where we paused. Liked the ship, the cabin and the food.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Slick handover of the car, bit of a wait to embark but no big deal.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Horizon was fine for breakfast - lots of choice. For dinner preferred Meridian to Peninsular and one night we tried Sindhu which was first class. Limelight Club was good but they should note that nouvelle cuisine went out of fashion in the 90s

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Claire Sweeney was excellent in the Limelight Club.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Faultless. Particular mention for Ryan, our cabin steward.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Everywhere immaculate. Could do with midships stairs but that's a minor point.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
I liked it. Comfy bed, good shower. Some rattling from the balcony door when at sea but that's not bad for Italian bodywork!

Ship tip

Make the most of the ports of call, embarking/disembarking was no problem.

Ports of call

Southampton (London), England

4 out of 5
Nice to have a different view of Southampton. Didn't do an excursion as that was taken care of by the drive from the M3 to the port.

Stavanger, Norway

4 out of 5
Didn't do an excursion; we wandered around getting the ambience, looking at the museums and people watched over a coffee and burger.

Flam

5 out of 5
Thoroughly enjoyed this port. Had a good explore of the waterside and had a trip on the Flam railway which I would recommend - the train stops at a very photogenic waterfall (Kjosfossen).

Aurland Did not visit port

Ship did not stop.

Cruise Sognefjord

5 out of 5
Very photogenic scenery.

Olden, Norway

4 out of 5
Port is a bit of a walk to the village. Went on the coach trip to the Kjenndal glacier 'finger' in the Jostedal national park. This was awesome - I can't imagine what a sight of the main glacier is like.

Bergen, Norway

4 out of 5
Ship was moored fairly close to Bryggen. had a look at the old buildings and then took the Floibanen funicular up Mt. Floyen which has good views and goats. Then had a moose burger in the fish market.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
A bit of waiting but quicker than expected.
