I think you give what you get. Some other people had previous experiences to compare this cruise to. I think we did so well because we were very appreciative of all the pampering. Most likely we will compare future cruises (which there definitely will be - we're hooked) but I also hope that we can experience new adventures with the same awe as we did on this voyage. And because the crew were from all over, some sending money home to their families, others just enjoying the experience, and even though they were totally professional and well trained, we never felt like we were looked down upon even when we weren't sure which fork to use or what kind of food was on the menus as can so often happen in fine dining restaurants on shore.

Don't miss the night time shows. If you don't go to port in Cozumel, the pool is practically empty and the Solarium is like a ghost town - which is nice, if you want a bit of peace and quiet (I did). Make sure you go to a forward deck around 6 PM when you depart Tampa to watch the ship going under the Skyway Bridge. Very cool.

Don’t get sick! My wife got sick on the cruise and ended up in a Tampa hospital for 2 days before she could fly home. It’s taken her 7-10 days to recover. Doctor on ship is $195 to consult. We brought our own meds which was our saving grace. Plan accordingly.

Don't buy any drink packages unless you intend to drink tons of liquid. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, water, and lemonade are included. Determine how much you would need to drink every day of Pop and Specialty Coffees (and Alcoholic beverages if you drink those) in order to break even or get a price per item that you'd expect to pay if you purchased a single drink on land. I purchased two drink packages (minus alcohol), and it turned out, we could've done without. We did drink sodas and specialty coffees, but we didn't break even. The next RCCL cruise we did, we did not buy the drink packages, purchased drinks as we wanted them, and actually came out better cost-wise. Oh, if you're a Crown and Anchor Gold or Above, you'll get some freebies and two for ones to take advantage of. That can also help with the costs of drinks.

Get to the pool by 8am if you want a seat, and don't be afraid to order more than one entree...everyone likes to taste test.

A smaller ship may not have all the extras but leaving from Tampa was wonderful and going under the bridge was fun. The staff were amazing and loved all the glass. You were able to see the ocean from most common areas!
